Motorola Defy :: Where Do Photo Attachments Go When Downloaded
Aug 31, 2011
Just bought a Defy today and am still learning how to use it! Someone SMS'd me some photos and I pressed "download" but now can't find where they are saved. Have looked in the gallery but nothing there. how i retrieve or even view the photos?!
When I open an email attachment, such as an xls or pdf, I get a message saying the document/item has been stored in my phone's downloads folder. However, said folder does not seem to exist. I have something called Downloads in the app drawer, but those email attachments aren't in there. I frequently need quick access to these items when I'm out and away from my desktop, and I don't want to dig through a bunch of past emails to re-download the attachment.
I have set up 3 of my mail boxes on my C6-01. However whenever I receive a mail with attachments, I cant download or open them. It tries to download, stays at zero percent and then says "unable to perform operation"! Whats the use of such rush mail service which according to me is ridiculous. So if you want to download such attachments you either need to open your mail on PC or using browsers on your phone like opera mini. I just dont understand whether this is a bug or has been designed like that. I guess this problem has come up after Anna update
Each time I try to send or forward an email, I get this message: "No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft."Yet when I check my online services and connections, everything appears to be "On."
Likewise, when I try to open a photo attachment (as I have done many times in the past), I get this message: "More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found."
None of the information I've found under Support addresses these particular issues.
I received a picture via email on my phone and I can set the image as my wallpaper, but I cant see it in my photo album - any ideas how I can save images from e-mail attachments directly into the album - or browse ones that I have received
My phone has multiple resets ad the direction of Motorola, and has been in for a circuit board replacement. Now the screen still freezes and the reception is hopeless.I am sure this handset is a lemon. It is still under warranty, 11 months old.
setting up auto-fetching applies to all email accounts. I swear on my 2.1 Spice XT300, the auto-retrieval was by email address (and also the smallest interval between fetches was 5 minutes, not 15 like on the Defy). I have never used 2.1 on the Defy; mine was original 2.2.1.
I updated to Froyo via Motorola website but it hasn't worked. My phone still shows firmware 2.1.1. Tried to update again via Motorola website but it now tells me that there are no updates for my phone.....I presume that it somehow detects that my phone previously downloaded froyo update.
My Defy is denied application on the market with no reason that I understand. Some apps are not visible from the phone, and are said "non compatible" from the market website. Sometime the website talks of country restriction while they should not be.
I have had my defy now for a few months, and I have been pretty happy with it (babyproof smartphone!)Unfortunately, its becoming more and more unreliable, and am having to reboot it regularly. This weekend is the worst. Here are some of the things it is doing:
all apps keep freezing and crashing (no fancy apps, mostly use it for twitter, facebook etc).phone keeps freezing and being unresponsible on the home screen keep getting an 'emergency calls only' notification, which then clears straight away when i go into notifications.mms photos - both sent and received take up to 5 days to be visible. until then they are just flagged as 'downloading'. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 5 days to download a 27kb file. After rebooting, I did have a gmail widget require a forced close immediately. I was never using that widget anyway, and couldn't see it, so I uninstalled it. Now on rebooting I have to force close Google Services Framework. I have decided that looks reasonably important and useful and have declined to uninstall that so far.
I have a my Defy & XT and as of 9:22 am the weather widget hasn't udated and I've turned the phone off and on etc and then I deleted my location and tried to readd it and it said something like.. location information cannot be found (not sure off hand).. I don't know what to do but it won't let me add any loactions but apps from the market work.
Business emails that usually show text in the message, don't show up on the Droid's email program. Instead, they show up with a blank message body and an htm doc attachment that can only be opened by downloading it and going into the messaging folder to open. If you try to open through the email they just pull up the Google browser which does not read the file. Is there an alternative email program or web browser that will allow either the message to appear in the email body (like it does on iPhones I have tried) or a browser that can read an htm file?
PDF and DOC attachments are no longer opening on my xoom (wi-fi only). It used to ask what program I wanted to use to open the attachment. Now the screen goes slightly gray and the attachment does not open in any program.
I am unable to download, view or save zip attachments. I cannot do it in gmail or the stock email app using a pop account. There is no view, preview, download, or save button. There is only an "info" button in both the gmail and stock email apps. When I select "Info" it says this file cannot be downloaded or saved.
I have tried several different file managers including ES, Astro, AndroZip and All Downloads but still get the same result. All other attachments work fine
I have a Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi and if I receive an email with a link or a pdf attachment, if I click on the link the screen dims and nothing happens. Same thing if I click view to look at a pdf attachment.
I cannot save attachments to the phone or to my external SD card, which is not encrypted. I have no Exchange 2010 security policies blocking attachments. ICS is not set to encrypt anything. I use NitroDesk TouchDown, which also has no saving restrictions or encryption set.I go through the process of Save, or Save All, and try to save, or create a new folder in which to save, and then click to save the file. I can see the new folder I created, but there is never a file saved. Rebooting does not make it show, nor does dismounting and remounting the SD card.Probably related to the above problem, if I have an email in TD with an attachment, for example a DOCX file, I can open it in Documents to Go, but if I do a Save As from there, it will not let me save it anywhere. If I use Docs to Go and create a new Word doc, I can save it anywhere I choose, so it is as though TD will not let me manipulate my attachments.
If I open up Gallery I have the option of chosing my Motocast files on my pc. But if I'm in email and want to add an attachment, if I select Gallery it only shows me the pics on my phone - no option to select Motocast files. Is that the way it's supposed to be or do I need to change something. It sure would be nice to access those files for attachments.
Perhaps I'm not doing things correctly, but I've noticed that when I receive a calendar invitation which contains attached documents from my work Exchange account, I can't retrieve the attachments except under specific circumstances.
When I receive an invitation and it is still in my email inbox, there is a link to the attachment. If I click it then before looking at the event details, I can view and save the attachment (I have automatic download of attachments turned off - I need to turn it on and see what happens). In the above case, If I go to view the event in my calendar first and accept the invitation, the item is removed from my inbox and any attachments are no longer accessible. In all cases, events in my calendar with attached documents do not show any attached documents. I've not found a way to get access to attachments that I know are in Calendar entries from work.
Is this pilot error or a "feature" of the email and calendar client apps?
I am unable to view e-mail attachments at my hotmail account. As i open them, i get the 'Fetching attachment' notification followed by 'This attachment cannot be displayed'. I never had any such issues with LG Optimus V. Also that when i forward the attachment to my gmail account, i have no issues opening it.
got the 3.2 update for my 3g Xoom. And now when using my exchange account I can no longer view attachments from email. I have to save the file to the device and view with the aid of a file reader. It worked flawlessly before but now seem broken.
Is anyone else having any problems sending texts with attachments? I am using Handscent and Go SMS Pro in addition to the standard text program that came with my bionic. For some reason lately, I can't to get an attachment to go through (video or picture) for any of the text programs on the bionic. It runs, and runs, and runs (and uses up battery power) but it never seems to go through most of the time. At other times, it goes through (video) with no problems.
