Received the following message this morning: Motorola XOOM Software Update, A critical software update 65.1.17.en.03 (50.2mb) is available. Plug in the tablet to ensure the battery is not drained during download. It is also recommended to download over a high speed network or WiFi. I ran the update & after restart my XOOM had upgraded from 3.1 to 3.2, However, I don't have any mobile internet The Mobile Networks option is greyed out - And the IMEI numbers etc. have been erased.
Others may have asked this but I can't find an answer that works for my Xoom. I have a 3G Xoom operating on 3.1 but it won't recognise the SIM card.
I have:
Tried turning the unit off and repowering it - no success Tried using the SIM card from my mobile phone - no success Removed the SIM and resinserted it - no success When I look at Settings/Wireless and Networks/Mobile Network Settings, I have Data Enabled checked.
If i open the SIM card slot, I immediately get a message "SIM error - A SIM card error has occured. A mobile data connection cannot be made until you insert a valid SIM and power cycle the device. Please contact Customer Care if the problem persists".
When I reinsert the SIM, I get a triangle with an exclamation mark in the bottom right corner saying "No Service - Selected network (Vodafone AU) unavailable". Now when I go back to Settings/Wireless and Networks, the Mobile Network Settings option is greyed out an unavailable.
When I turn the Xoom off and then restart it, that Mobile Network Settings option is available again. MASSIVELY frustrated as I can't find out whether it's a setting that needs adjusting, whether it's the Xoom itself, a 3.1 problem.
My 3G XOOM (MZ601) is having a small issue since the 3.2 upgrade that if i have the XOOM at home connected to my WiFi, then take it out with me, it refuses to connect/switch to my Mobile network without a restart. Once I have done this it works fine, but it's a bit of a pain having to turn it off and on again every time I leave the house.
I'm trying to find the best option for mobile internet access for my Xoom.I've ordered the D-Link DAP350 to be able to get wifi from wired internet, but am looking for a router that will accept an onlocked 3.5G modem. So, I looked at the CNet CQR-981 that will accept a USB modem (which the DAP350 apparently does not)The problem as I see it is that they all need some form of setting up/driver, and those will not be available for Andriod-or am I missing something? BTW, I've tried tethering my Xoom to my Nokia N8 both with wifi and BT.
Some web sites default me to the mobile version instead of the full version. Some have a link to select the full web site but many do not. Typing in the full web address does not help with these web sites. If there is some way to override this selection of the mobile version
I have a bb curve 3g n sky wireless broadband and router but when I try to connect to the wifi it asks me to enter a code into my router and I'm not able to do that!? How do I connect?
Just received my Curve today. Not sure if this is to do with my service provider or the handset itself! I am also a bit of a techno-phobe!I cannot connect to the internet! On my old LG Ku990 i could easily connect to the web with no need to set anything up and got charged per data received (this actually was included in my free calls). I had such high hopes for the curve to be better than that! I do not know how to set up my curve to be able to acces the web. on the set up menu all the options i have are for a wi-fi connection to my home braodband wireless router. Why can't i just connect via the phone as i could on my old LG? When i try and connect to my home broadband it asks for a PSK code and i do not know what this is or where to find it!Is it possible to connect to the web without using my home broadband router?Any help will be much appreciated as i am dying to use this new phone to the best of its ability!
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
my 9300 won't pick up my home router. It picks up other people's around me but when it scans it doesn't find mine. I have had it connected in the past and have tried the reboot (taking out the battery whilst still on) but it didn't improve, I have tried to connect via WPS and manually. My play book is connected and the router is fine.
OK, this might sound like a silly Q, but when I connect my BB 9700 to my home broadband router via wi-fi, are all browsing data downloads automatically directed via the wi-fi, rather than via my carrier's network, or is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?
Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.
I would like to buy the XOOM speaker dock and play music from my XOOM on a daily basis.... I'm worried about having it plugged (and charging) in too much and that I might GREATLY reduce the battery life by charging my XOOM too much.
I upgraded my OS to 5.0 for use with Verizon Broadband tethering. It no longer could connect.I called Verizon and they recommended a downgrade to the old OS.It works again. Sounds like this is a known issue for 5.0 with the Verizon broadband tether. Is there a fix in the works from BlackBerry?I liked what 5.0 had to offer, but can't upgrade again until this is fixed as I need to tether for work.
hi guys, this time..i have a very unique question, guys,i took out the simcard on my broadband n inserted it into my phone, all is well,i mean i can eneble the data n ya,i can use the internet,fb,twitter...but when i enter the market n start downloading or updating the files, theres an error where the files cant be downloaded nor updated,y?
Can anyone recommend an app that will allow me to show .ppt files diretly on the Xoom non-US model? I had an idea it was possible with an app included in US Xooms but not to us outside the USA.
This post is for all of us who bought the Xoom because 4g speed was an important factor to us. We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
I have an unlocked Motorola Q9h and T-mobile updated my phone with the correct settings after I contacted customer care. However, I was still unable to send or receive MMS messages (yes, they are a part of my plan). I always receive the message "could not send or receive all messages." I was told after that this particular phone just won't send or receive MMS messages on the T-mobile network. I'm not sure I believe that. I was wondering if anyone else on this forum has this problem, or knows how to fix the problem.
This is my first post and I'm not too familiar with the cell phone industry, so bear with me.I have a chance to get a good deal on an unlocked Motorola Milestone from someone. Will it work with simple mobile? What do I have to do to make it work? What are my other prepaid options for unlimited talk/text/web with this phone? I'm in Nashville Tn. and T-Mobile coverage is pretty good hear.
A friend is looking to get an unlocked V3xx to use on T-Mobile. I remember in the past, non-TMO Motorola phones would sometimes act weird with voicemails. They'd get a text and not properly show the little VM icon, and you would need to do seem editing to get it to work.Is this also the case with V3xx or will it work as is?
