View 9 RepliesI've read a few threads about people wanting to change there default apps, and as I've just set Opera Mobile as my default web browser, thought I'd let people know in case they weren't aware you could do it
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've installed the Opera Mobile 10 browser and have set it as the default browser in the default programs menu. Still it does not seem to be the default browser. It seems as if the phone just ignores this setting. If I go to internet from the Media menu (upright corner) etc. I still get the Nokia browser.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow do I set opera mobile as the default browser on a Nokia N900? I want all websites, e.g. links in emails, etc. to automatically open in opera mobile not in microb.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI changed the Default applications | Browsing internet setting from Web to Opera Mini. This does not seem to affect anything. Unless I actually start Opera Mobile, any application that has a URL link will start the default N97 browser instead of Opera Mobile.
Is there something else I need to do in order to change the default browser on the N97?
How can one make Opera mobile to be the phone's default browser so that it opens vs Nokia browser when clicked on a link in emails? Nokia web browser opens despite Opera is set as default?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if the Goog is working on a permanent way to identify the browser on a Xoom as a desktop device and not a mobile device?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just updated to 3.1 and my tablet has now slowed right down. It now takes time for the tablet to realise I am trying to switch screen if I try and swipe between home screens, but the graphics are faster than previously which is odd. The major problem for me is that typing has slowed down and become less responsive. I just tried to buy an app from the Android market, and it couldn't keep up with me putting my card number in. I then tried to type in other applications to see if it was just typing generally that was causing the problem which it is. Restart did not fix it either. This effectively makes the tablet unusable for me as the typing speed is unreasonably slow.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhey friends,i wanted to know if there is any way of switching opera mini browser to default browser as the nokia browser is much slower than the opera mini. I would also like to know what is making thw nokia browser so slow compared to others.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe bottom bar (Start Bar, Tool Bar, whatever it's called) continues to cause problems for me while typing. The keyboard comes up, and when I hit bottom-row keys often times my finger will either hit, or register as hitting, the Start Bar. Mid-sentence I often find myself looking at my Home screen, or I'm suddenly in another app.
Is there a setting somewhere such that when the keyboar pops up it will cover the Start Bar? I just got my Xoom and love it apart from this.
The browser on my Nokia 701 is great -certainly much better than past versions- but websites 'see' it as a full size browser and so deliver it full size web pages. I have found this leads to much dragging and zooming. If the site also has pop-ups (which can fully obscure the screen!) this can lead to misclicks, impossible to navigate sites etc. Also full size webpages are slow to load and more expensive on data.
This issue has led me to either manually navigating to the mobile versions of the websites I like (bit of a pain) or to simply use the Opera Mini browser instead. The Opera browser is free and websites 'recognise' it as a mobile browser. This means without any work when I surf I instantly get the mobile version of the website I want (assuming one exists), easy to navigate and fast (and so cheaper) to load. In many cases this works much better for me.
So I think Nokia have missed a trick here. Maybe they should offer a feature whereby the user can tell their browser to find either mobile-friendly pages or normal ones. They could even add in a second browser shortcut, one which launches the Nokia browser in a 'mobile' mode.
Now running a 701, beautiful phone to handle and use...now that it has stopped sending my personal information to Nokia via 360Panel [rolls eyes]
Received the following message this morning: Motorola XOOM Software Update, A critical software update 65.1.17.en.03 (50.2mb) is available. Plug in the tablet to ensure the battery is not drained during download. It is also recommended to download over a high speed network or WiFi. I ran the update & after restart my XOOM had upgraded from 3.1 to 3.2, However, I don't have any mobile internet The Mobile Networks option is greyed out - And the IMEI numbers etc. have been erased.
View 10 Replies View Relatedafter reading the thread about apps running in the background i removed some i don't use, now periodically as im reading a website the whole browser wil just close and i go back to the 'desktop' if thats what its called.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am coming to the conclusion that the perfect browser for the XOOM does not exist.Dolphin HD seems to be using the same flakey rendering as the stock browser.Skyfire is also using the same flakey engine and I believe that is because Flash won't work with anything else.Opera is extremely stable but won't allow me to post on these forums and they have removed flash support because they cannot make it work right.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my Xoom around the beginning of June it is the wi-fi version, the reason for my post is the browser has been crashing.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been trying out different types of internet browsers: the native version, opera, firefox, dolphin and skyfire.Reason being is because I am investigating the cause of the random reboots my device is facing.I've tried to reduce all settings: No bluetooth, removed syncing, no location information. Now the device is able to do most basic things and not experiencing any reboots. However as soon as I start web surfing it's just a matter of minutes before the whole tablet crashes. What web browser do you think (or know) will provide the most stable experience for the xoom 2?
View 14 Replies View RelatedOthers may have asked this but I can't find an answer that works for my Xoom. I have a 3G Xoom operating on 3.1 but it won't recognise the SIM card.
I have:
Tried turning the unit off and repowering it - no success Tried using the SIM card from my mobile phone - no success Removed the SIM and resinserted it - no success When I look at Settings/Wireless and Networks/Mobile Network Settings, I have Data Enabled checked.
If i open the SIM card slot, I immediately get a message "SIM error - A SIM card error has occured. A mobile data connection cannot be made until you insert a valid SIM and power cycle the device. Please contact Customer Care if the problem persists".
When I reinsert the SIM, I get a triangle with an exclamation mark in the bottom right corner saying "No Service - Selected network (Vodafone AU) unavailable". Now when I go back to Settings/Wireless and Networks, the Mobile Network Settings option is greyed out an unavailable.
When I turn the Xoom off and then restart it, that Mobile Network Settings option is available again. MASSIVELY frustrated as I can't find out whether it's a setting that needs adjusting, whether it's the Xoom itself, a 3.1 problem.
My 3G XOOM (MZ601) is having a small issue since the 3.2 upgrade that if i have the XOOM at home connected to my WiFi, then take it out with me, it refuses to connect/switch to my Mobile network without a restart. Once I have done this it works fine, but it's a bit of a pain having to turn it off and on again every time I leave the house.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't use Opera mini web browser at all! It loads and finally throws up the following error:"Failed to connect to the Internet."It's frustrating coz I was (am) able to use Opera mini without any glitch on N73.

Xoom tablet with Android 3.2.1 With the Xoom display horizontal, when you touch (click) some links in the browser the screen just goes dim and does nothing. If you then rotate the Xoom to cause it to display in the vertical mode you can then see the popup window and interact with it.Those popup windows are off the bottom of the screen when in horizontal display mode. Because the popup window has taken the focus away from the main page you cannot even scroll the page up to reveal the popup. It just seems like the Xoom browser has dimmed and frozen. An example link is if you do a Google search for a town, say Sheridan WY, and on the search results page touch (click) the result that shows a Google map of the town. The Xoom's browser will dim and nothing will happen. If you rotate the Xoom to vertical you ca then see the popup.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI notice that when I go to certain websites, there's a modal popup, telling me if I want to use tapatalk. If I choose OK, market apps open and one can purchase the app.I do have the popup blocker set to enabled and have the the UA string set to Deskto. t's annoying, and you gotta pay for the tapatalk app too. Is there a way to block this pop up from happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 3G Verizon Xoom on 3.1. I've noticed an issue since I got the tablet a few months ago; every once in a while, when opening a URL from outside the browser, the screen will flicker, like the connection to the LCD has gone bad. It is corrected by tilting the tablet to change the orientation from landscape to portrait, and then everything is fine. The issue only happens when opening the browser from inside another app - by clicking on a link in the gmail app, for instance.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery morning the Dolphin browser pops up a message about backing up bookmarks to the SD card and asks if I want to have a try. It mentions backing up to the SD card and since there is no SD card in the Xoom ( although they call memory SD card ), are they talking about backing up to an actual SD card or are they referring to what shows in the Xoom as sdcard?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a web developer wanting to debug web pages inside the Xoom web browser.I have a particular issue in which I have a page with a number of <select> lists, the first two lists allow me to choose values but the remaining lists do not - even though I know the lists contain values. I'm guessing that this could be a WebKit bug but am hoping there are some simple debug tools to assist me, similar to Google Chrome, but I have no idea where to find them. about:debug doesn't help much and view-source: doesn't work.
Have tried using Opera Mobile browser and the lists works without a problem and have tried Firefox but this was too buggy to test. Dolphin seems to exhibit the same issues as the default Xoom browser so I'm gessing it uses the same version of WebKit.Getting this working is a crucial part of my system and I do not want to recommend that the customer use iPads to get the most reliable web functionality. So, are there any debugging tools for web pages available on the Xoom?
Why does my browser keep force closing. It doesnt happen all the time but when it does, its so annoying because it doesnt show the last page I was on, ughhhhhh its so annoying.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else having issues with any (even aftermarket) browsers closing / force closing randomly and CONSTANTLY? Ever since the 3.1 update I can't use any browser because it just closes out. The stock browser doesn't show a forced close dialog after, but the aftermarket ones do. I could definitely use a hand in figuring this out so my tablet isn't almost uselss.
