I have checked the box to include facebook contacts on my phone so they appear in my contact list. Now one would think that when I tap on the link to their facebook page that's where I would go. However, I am always taken to my own profile, rather than the profile of the person I am clicking on.

Facebook allows users to call themselves whatever they want and unfortunately that is name that appears in my contact list instead of their proper name that I have put into contacts.For example, John Doe calls himself SuperJohn on Facebook and SuperJohn appears in my contact list, when that person calls or when I look them up to send a text message. Even after going into contacts and confirming their fname and lname is John Doe the phone insist on calling them SuperJohn. It wouldn't be so bad, but a Facebook name can be changed on a whim AND it makes voicedial impossible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to sync or rather resync facebook contacts back to your XPRT's contact list if lost. My son deleted my contacts and when I restored them from online back ups I noticed my facebooks were not there. Trying to remove the account to resync would not work. I received an error with each attempt. Like many users I use the Facebook app from Google's market. Even when I would force close the app it would still not remove my face book account. You cannot resync unless you remove the account. Open the facebook app and simply sign out of the app. do not close it but sign out by hitting the menu icon to the left of your home button on the touch scene. This will allow you to remove the Facebook account. It will warn you on sign out that all your Facebook data on your phone will be lost if you sign out. That is okay as soon as you log in and resync and reopen the app it will all come back.
Once you have logged out remove your account by going to My Accounts in the app drawer or from your phones settings through the menu button. Resettling your phone is not necessary but can be done at this point if you wish. Either way after this point you must add your facebook account back by going back to My Accounts. Once you add the email and password and it goes back to your accounts screen you will see two (2) facebook accounts. Click one and if it pulls up a blue and white screen to log into the facebook app stop. Hit the back button and click the other facebook account. The one you want will have a black Motorola XPRT system windows that says "sync contacts" just hit that sync button and it should as long as facebook and your MOTOBLUR app on facebook are both working resync you contacts adding them to your phones contacts.
So I tried what was suggested to me as far as adding my facebook account to the social networking app in my xprt and still the contacts have not linked. Nor did it give me a sync option when adding my facebook account. When I first purchased the xprt and added fb the contacts synced,I had to remove it and add it again do to being hacked. Could this be the reason? I know this is pretty ocd for something so small,I just really want my google contacts to sync with fb

I downloaded 3 of the free android market apps for the SMS backup, SMS backup +, backup to gmail, etc.I do see a folder created in my gmail but when i click on the actual thread of each SMS message, it only backs up what I sent -- NOT THE ENTIRE THREAD. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it? Or which app works best for the XPRT so that ALL SMS messages are backed up (the ones I receive and the ones I've sent)

Two weeks into using my new XPRT and now the green phone button does nothing, well almost nothing. After a power down and battery remove-replace, the first time I push the phone button the screen blinks, then nothing. Each push thereafter does nothing.If I use the phone dialer app it's the same thing. To make a call I have to either use my Voice Mail which works fine, and use the redial function from voice mail, or use Contacts to make a call. If I want to call a number not in a VM or in my contacts, it can't be done.Android 2.2.2

They'll show selected but won't actually link, even links I have previously selected, so I know they're good links. Closing the browser down & reopening fixes it. I haven't managed to suss a pattern to it yet so am a bit confused. Any ideas please because it's getting really annoying?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHere's an anomaly for ya. Whenever I browse the BlackBerry app catalog via my computer and click the "get this app" link, I get the email with the link attached no problem. Then I click on the link which prompts the Bberry browser. However, when I go to click the link that says "open in BlackBerry App World", the loading bar will appear on the bottom of the browser for a second and then....nothing happens.
So I checked all my permissions for the browser to ensure that everything is checked off (which it is). So I'm pretty sure that nothing is being inadvertantly blocked.
It looks like thip topic has already been dealt with, but I am experiencing similar problems with my (new) Atrix. Facebook messages do not load through Atrix's Motoblur's messaging widget. The updates seem to be fine, though the contact's pictures do not come up. I deleted group messages from my Facebook homepage (not all of them, just the visible ones on the front page) and I also checked my IMEI, but still nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had random issues with the fb app when on GB also, but now it wont start at all, or, it starts, then goes black and never recovers. finally about 10 - 15 minutes later I get a pop up message that the app has stopped responding and do I want to report it. Of course I report it every time.
I tried uninstalling the app completely but could not do it. I could only uninstall the upgrades made to it previously, so I tried that and then reinstalled the upgrades, but to no avail.
I did not realize that fb is a permanent app. I thought I could uninstall it completely, but I cannot. Has anyone else run into this with fb?
yes I did have other issues with ics and I have cache cleared and started uninstalling app's where possible. I have NOT tried a factory reset yet, but that may very well be next.
When ever I leave my house and go out of Wi/Fi range my phone does not access the internet. Even when I have full bars it doesnt work. Its not a sprint thing either because my parents phones and my frinds phones that are Sprint work just fine.

For example, when I go into my downloads and touch the screen to open (say) a PDF file, the screen goes dull and then returns to normal brightness and my file doesn't open. If I go into Documents to Go and open the PDF file it seems to work OK however?Same thing is happening with video files, for example I touch a video file to open it in VPlayer and, again, the screen goes dull and I can't access the video. Same with music whcih I can only access through the music player, not through other routes such as Astro file manager etc. Also when I try to open some links to websites embedded in emails etc the screen goes dull and then bright again and the links don't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI loved how my old iPhone made it easy to click on phone numbers, email addresses, and links in emails, texts, web pages, etc. especially when I wanted to click on an address to show it on the map. My Atrix has never done that. Until recently I thought it was just something I had to put up with.
However, I got so frustrated I finally went looking for an answer. Now it seems that my Atrix is supposed to work the same way, so I'm wondering what the problem is with mine. It gets phone numbers and email addresses in emails, but doesn't recognize addresses.
Is there a setting I'm missing, or do I have a problem? I'm using the Gmail app for email.
Unable to open any web links from an app or gmail ....started to happen a few minutes ago..these links are embedded in a email or from an app like pulse etc. I have stock broswer and dolphin HD ...and I select which one to displayed when the browser selection pop up window comes up.
Now the selection popup window does not come at all...and the screen goes about 50% dark and when touched anywhere on the screen ...it comes to normal brightness...
I have followed the instructions suggested and it there is no option for text in the (more) menu whether in browser or replying.And copying links seems to be entirely hit or miss as well. I am finding this quite frustrating while trying to share links.
