View 5 RepliesI own a French Retail A953 Milestone 2 and I'm looking forward to android 2.3 update. So, after followed the thread [URL]and it's on ! The update is here.Unfortunately when trying to update my mobile using MSU the answer is "no new update availlable yet for your mobile"...I'm using A953 with Android 2.2.2 and the system version is Version.62.4.24.A953.Retail.en.FR.

In Froyo, before the standard contacts facility was used, there was an ability to "link" duplicate contacts together to merge their details. Is that still possible in the Gingerbread world, and if so, how do you do it?
I upgraded to 2.3.4 Gingerbread about a week ago. System version is 64.1.22.A953.Retail.en.GB No problem for the first few days but since then the screen switches off randomly (that new CRT-style shutdown, very cute). I can be viewing Google Maps, or using the camera, or browsing the web...doesn't seem to be a single trigger. The screen turns off and if I switch it back on quickly it will switch off again; if I wait a few seconds and switch on then it stops freaking out and the screen stays on.I've been using Cloudskipper and WinAmp with the lockscreen features enabled (since the stock music player on Milestone2 doesn't show up on the lockscreen). Could these be the culprits - is there something unstable in 2.3's lock-screen?Screen timeout and security timeout are set to 60 minutes.

I've got an A953 (UK unlocked) and it upgraded to Gingerbread fine, and I can connect to the Internet on the phone. When I start Mobile Hotspot, my laptop can see the phone and connect to it (receive an IP address by DHCP). However I can't connect through the phone to the rest of the Internet.Does it have something to do with me being on T-Mobile USA? Unfortunately I'm not really able to test other options, but it would be good to know if it work successfully for others.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dutch Retail (Netherlands) MZ601 3G 32 GB Xoom. Since a few weeks I have been regulary hitting the "System Updates" option, but it kept telling me, "No update is neccessary".
However, since it was posted here that the ICS update should be available for Dutch Retail, I don't get ANY message anymore when hitting "System Updates". It just says "checking" for a second and then nothing.
Why is my completely perfect stock Xoom not getting its update?
Just wondering what version of Android is the Telus Milestone shipping with? Is is 1.6 Donut or 2.1 Éclair ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter spending 2 hours on the forums and 2 hrs on motorola website, downloading the motorola software update and finding that the updater says that your phone is up to date with 2.1 (where as the motorola site says 2.2 is now available) and browsing thru unending discussions, I was unable to update my Motorola milestone to Android 2.2. I last week sent my phone to the service center to ask them to update it to 2.2, they returned the phone saying it is up to date.I am sick of removing applications and always worrying about the remaining ROM availability. If the official version is not available in Dubai can someone tell me of a shop where I can get it updated, as I dont really understand the concept of rooting and stuff like that.
I have the Motorola Milestone X, an exact clone of the Droid X, but for the wireless company Alltel. I am wondering if I will be receving the gingerbread update like the Droid X users are?
View 15 Replies View RelatedWhen is it reasonable to expect the X2 to receive the update to Gingerbread not that the Droid X is receiving it in the field? As a consumer I would have expected the newest model of the Motorola family to have been shipped with Gingerbread but seing the old model Droid X receive it before the X2 is a little puzzling.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was a part of the testing group and could not get my phone updated through that. Now it is officially out and yet again, I cannot update my phone. Here is the problem once again: I plug my phone into my computer and start Motorola Software Update, which is up to date. It says it is going to update the software on my phone. My phone turns off and a screen comes up on my phone saying it is updating the software. A few seconds later it says the update is complete, and my phone reboots exactly the same. I have tried to update my phone like 8-10 times on different computers, etc. and nothing changes.

As per the original official update schedule of Motorola the update was due for this model(EUROPEAN EDITION) on Q4,2010.But this was not by Motorola.Hence on my enquiry Mark informed me that Motorola has revised the schedule and advised me to look for it.Hence I found out the the revised schedule of Q1,2011 and notice that the update has already started to roll out.But even after the end of one month after Q1,2011 I didn't receive the update.I use to check the update information in the phone everyday. It always says your systemis currently update.Whether Motorola will give me the 2.2 update ever? Will anyone of the Motorola officials or Mark himself will please clear my anxiety and advise me the steps to be taken further to get the update without anymore further delay.Further there is one more thing.Recently whenever I try for system updates in the phone by going to Settings>About Phone>System Updates a message appears "The device is unable to connect to server.Try again later.".But whenever I try again and again later the same message appears.Hence what I have to do to get the update if it has been aired? Is there any other way to find the update and download and install in the phone?the phone is connected to 2G and i can browse internet successfully.
This morning I was prompted to download & install the new update OTA. I have attempted to do so 4-5 times now. Each time, it completes the download, reboots the phone to start the update, then when the update progress bar is about 1/2 of the way through, an icon with an exclamation point appears & then the update stops. The phone proceeds to boot up like normal. After it finishes booting up it displays a message stating that the update failed.I really would like to NOT have to do a factory reset to my phone just to get the update to install

I recived an update after I un rooted and reset to factory settings but nothing Gingerbread related even after searching manually through the update check in "about phone". I am stuck on 2.2
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to update it through guides on the internet and I keep getting the same error which is:
"failed to verify whole-file signature"..The file is named update.zip (yes, i'm 100% sure it's not update. zip. zip). The file is in the root of the sd card. I can't figure out what's going wrong here.
I'm using a non-rooted device. I pulled the OTA update for gingerbread and it downloaded successfully. When it restarts it loads up to the boot screen and begins installation. It gets about 1/4 of the way before I get an exclamation error and the phone restarts. I've tried it multiple times and even formatted my phone before trying it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedBefore the update, my gallery used to be able to sort by folders that I organized through computer. However, after the update it seems like the gallery put all my pictures in the same folder and can only be sorted by date, name, etc but not by folders.
Is there a way to display in folders with the stock gallery? I think the new gallery update is so inconvenient!
I got the Gingerbread update the end of last week and for the most part everything is great. Phone is much more responsive overall and the Motoblur updates seem good as well. I am having one new problem though. Three times now I've unplugged my phone from the charger in the morning and it has been locked up. The green notification light is flashing so it's not totally dead. No combination of keys will wake it up though. Have to pull the battery to reset it (which is a pain with the Body Glove case).
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe release notes for Gingerbread make note of automatic dialing of conference call codes from the calendar entry:
Easy conference dialing allows you to dial the conference number and the meeting code will be automatically entered directly from your Calendar.
I have not be able to get this function to work, nor have I been able to find any references to it in the manuals or support sites. how the numbers have to be formated in the calendar entry?? Is the a 'special' field that they have to be entered?
Will there will international locale support with the Gingerbread update? I'm from Singapore, and my set has no Simplified Chinese locale available for selection in 2.2. add support for Asian languages in the next update.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had my DX2 for roughly three weeks, and for the most part, aside from some testing issues, it has been pretty good. With all of the information I've been reading, the OTA rollout of Gingerbread came out to the X1, but not the 2.That said, when are the updates going to come out for the 2? the fact that the companies are taking care of the earlier phone models, showing reward for loyalty, but the individuals who upgraded to the newest hardware are stuck waiting.Does anyone know when, or if we are getting the next OS?Are we moving directly to Honeycomb?I moved to a newer phone in lieu of rooting my DROID phone, and I'm happy that I did, but I am getting a little impatient. Also, I have no exposure to MOTOBLUR.Does my phone have it? Is it something I have to download? I've heard mixed reviews, but I would like to make the determination myself.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI manually pulled the gingerbread update from Systems Updates on my Droid X (stock, no root). The update was successful and today was the first day I needed to record a video using the camcorder application. I noticed that my phone defaults to DVD video quality and does not have the option for HD anymore. My wife has the same phone and we updated hers at the same time and she DOES have the HD option for the camcorder.
I have rebooted the phone as well as pulled the battery and let it sit for awhile all with no luck. Both have all the same version numbers except for PRL version, which I believeis just for roaming.
I've noticed that since the Gingerbread update, occasionally (perhaps three or four times over the past week or two) a stock widget or two disappears from my home (or other) screen. This never happened with Froyo. This morning my stock Bluetooth widget was gone and I had to reinstall it. I am almost religious about pressing the Power button while on my home page to blank the screen before placing my phone in its holster. That has always prevented inadvertent button presses on the screen.
View 13 Replies View RelatedOne thing my phone used to do flawlessly before the Gingerbread update was play music. I use Pandora, Google Music, Amazon music, etc and they all worked perfectly before the update.
Since the update listening to music has become a painful experience. Audio has become extremely glitchy to the point where its unlistenable (sputtering, skipping, etc if you are familiar with an Xrun that is how I would describe it). Usually this happens when I'm listing to music while working in other apps (ie, scrolling through a feed in tweetdeck) but it sometimes happens when playing music is the only thing I'm doing with the phone.
is there anything i can do to improve flash video playback? after the 2.2 update i was excited to be able to use flash on my phone, but video playback on it seems so bad that it's unwatchable.it's like a slideshow at best, and at worse i'm only getting one frame every thirty seconds or so. oddly enough the sound never skips or stutters at all.i've tried it over wifi and 3g. Internet videos in the native app and other non-flash streaming media seem to work perfectly.i'm using the stock browser with flash player 10.2.157.51 (the latest one available in the android market), and i've tried several different videos linked from m.flash.com
