View 6 RepliesI just bought an unlocked Telus Milestone. I'm still getting used to the phone but so far i'm really liking it. But for some reason it's not connecting to data. Did I miss something in settings?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI noticed I could create an AnyCut shortcut to SIM Toolkit on my Telus Milestone, unlocked and running with Fido. But when it launched, it immediately force closed. I think it's cause Fido doesn't use SIM apps.Anyway I backed it up with Titanium Backup and then I figured it was safe to uninstall the Toolkit with Titanium too, cause I could always put it back later. When I tried though, it turned out Titanium hadn't actually backed up the toolkit successfully. I have tried various approaches to reinstalling the various versions of Stk.apk that I can find on the web but they all fail - including adb push. The app is in my /system/app directory but still doesn't show in AnyCut or Manage Applications anymore.
So two questions - 1) can someone post their Stk.apk from Telus Milestone 2.1? 2) Any idea how to get it back in there?I'm asking because I'd like to take the phone on a trip to the US soon where I'll use my AT&T GoPhone SIM, and I think that provider does use SIM apps. Thanks!
Has anyone managed to get Google voice search working on a Telus Milestone? I cant find it on my phone.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI'm about to trade my Milestone for a brand new Xperia X10a because I'm going to be travelling later this year and I need that 2100MHz band. Can anyone confirm that this phone has the 2100MHz 3G band? Every website I've been to says that it only has 850/1900MHz but others on this board say otherwise.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI see so many threads where people are taking a Telus Motorola Milestone and trying to tweak it to run on Rogers network (at slower speeds than it would on Telus). Why are they just not going to Telus? Is there some other advantage to making the Motorola Milestone work with Rogers network? It just seems many people dislike Rogers - is there something about Telus and the Milestone I should know about? Maybe locked into a contract at Rogers... but it's not like the Moto hardware is cheap without contract through Telus (something like $599 CAN).
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just recently got a hold of a very new Telus Milestone 2.01. I need to back it up before updating to 2.1 just in case things don't go well.I have googled pretty much alot of sites but only "ROOTING" is all i find. Not interested in that, but just to back up the whole firmware for my own use. Im not interested also in using someone else's .sbf
View 2 Replies View RelatedDon't know if this is more appropriate for the Telus HSPA forum or Motorola. I'm going with Motorola because it's about unlocking the Milestone to use elsewhere. Please post in here if you obtained an unlock code for a Telus Milestone and it worked. Even better would be a screenshot or photo/video of the screen, showing your Milestone is running on a non-Telus operator (double bonus if it shows 3G/HSPA reception). Let us know if there were any specific options you had to choose when buying the unlock code to make sure it's for the correct Milestone.
Please *also* post in here if the unlock code *didn't* work and let us know who sold you the lemon.
I am looking for updating my Milestone to Androi 2.3 or Android 3. Does Androi 2.3 or Android 3.0 is availbale for Milestone in India.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat frequency bands will the Telus Moto Milestone support? All the info seems to indicate 850/1900 for 3G and no info on 2G except for rumors saying the same as the EU milestone or only 850/1900.I was hoping for at least tri-band 3G and quad-band 2G. I am sick and tired of these phones with weak-sauce frequency bands.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI know there is another thread about the Telus update that came out a few days ago, but that thread is more about issues installing the update.Like most of you, i looked for new features and have not really found any, but figure there must be some improvements in 32MB of fixes. One thing I have noticed is much better battery life. After 3 days, I have noticed that I have significantly more battery when I get home at night with my normal usage.I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same. Normally by the time I would get home, my phone would report under 15% or less. However I do have a Seidio extended battery (yeah the big honking one). The last few days I have had 40-50% battery left.
Since the milestone/droid has never recognized the extended battery's extra capacity, it reports battery % based on the standard battery size. So even though my battery would report 5%, I could run for 10-15 hours at 5%.So, is the battery life better with the update, or is the milestone now recognizing the extra capacity of the battery and just reporting it correctly.
I own a French Retail A953 Milestone 2 and I'm looking forward to android 2.3 update. So, after followed the thread [URL]and it's on ! The update is here.Unfortunately when trying to update my mobile using MSU the answer is "no new update availlable yet for your mobile"...I'm using A953 with Android 2.2.2 and the system version is Version.62.4.24.A953.Retail.en.FR.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't install Android 2.2 to my Milestone, using a computer running XP Pro SP 3. The installer runs for a minute, then shows a notepad file with this:
'check whether the specified hotfix exists in the target computer
strComputer = "."
Dim HotfixFound :HotfixFound = ""
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}! " _
[code]....
The hotfix it refers to is apparently a Vista Windows installer issue. I reinstalled windows installer just in case, and tried removing all Motorola related software from the computer then running the installer again.
I am undecided between these two phones.I currently have a Nokia E71 but would like a bigger screen and bigger keyboard. My priorities are a good imap idle email client (I don't mind paying for Profimail), sync with google calendar and managing contact groups. I don't care about facebook integration, camera etc.It seems both phones would meet my requirements; other than size (the Milestone has a bigger screen but is thinner) what would you say are the main differences, pros and cons of the two phones, and of Symbian S60 5th edition vs Android 2 in general?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to update it through guides on the internet and I keep getting the same error which is:
"failed to verify whole-file signature"..The file is named update.zip (yes, i'm 100% sure it's not update. zip. zip). The file is in the root of the sd card. I can't figure out what's going wrong here.
reinstalling android 2.2 on my milestone and please let me know from which site i can download the required media.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been reading a lot of posts on here and all the problems experienced with the Defy and different versions of Android that I am just wondering what really is the best version to use on the Defy that has the least problems?I have seen posts saying that 2.2 is buggy but not as buggy as 2.1. But now I have recently seen a post where the OP is wanting to downgrade from 2.2 I believe back down to 2.1 due to problems. What exactly is the issue, is it the operating system (software) or the actual phone itself (hardware)? Do these different versions of Android work any better on other phones like HTC, Samsung, etc or are there just as many bugs/hangs/freezes?For now I think I'm sticking with 2.1. I like my Defy but I'm not convinced I should buy a Motorola product again unless the Google takeover drastically improves their customer services and product support, especially after-sales.

It used to sync w/ google calendar and show the current date and upcoming scheduled events. Is it just me or is this a general issue which get addressed in a future update?

View 9 Replies View Relatedis there anything i can do to improve flash video playback? after the 2.2 update i was excited to be able to use flash on my phone, but video playback on it seems so bad that it's unwatchable.it's like a slideshow at best, and at worse i'm only getting one frame every thirty seconds or so. oddly enough the sound never skips or stutters at all.i've tried it over wifi and 3g. Internet videos in the native app and other non-flash streaming media seem to work perfectly.i'm using the stock browser with flash player 10.2.157.51 (the latest one available in the android market), and i've tried several different videos linked from m.flash.com
