I was a part of the testing group and could not get my phone updated through that. Now it is officially out and yet again, I cannot update my phone. Here is the problem once again: I plug my phone into my computer and start Motorola Software Update, which is up to date. It says it is going to update the software on my phone. My phone turns off and a screen comes up on my phone saying it is updating the software. A few seconds later it says the update is complete, and my phone reboots exactly the same. I have tried to update my phone like 8-10 times on different computers, etc. and nothing changes.
I just got this phone from someone who upgraded up. If I only want to use it for calls and texting and nothing else, should I update from its current system version 1.6 / Firmware version 1.5?If I wanted to do this manually, are system and firmware updates done separately and where are the download pages to do it manually? There are threads talking about how updates slowed down CLIQ MB200 phones. Do they slow down the basic functions of this phone? I see there are Android platform versions all the way up to 3.2. Is version 2.1 the last version compatible with MB200?Some threads compare updating this phone to installing Windows 7 or Vista on older computers - they would slow down basic functions on them so it's really not worth it to update. Is that comparison true when it comes to this first Android phone?
looking around here a couple days ago I saw talk about the update rolling out 'soon', and I decided to check my phone and see if it saw any updates. And it did, when I hit check for system updates it finds the one they were looking for testers for a couple weeks ago, only after I hit download (I've done it 3 times already) and it downloads, I hit install, and my phone powers off, it goes to the screen with the little box, and an arrow, and and android guy, and the progress bar only gets about half way before it suddenly reboots its self, and I'm still on the same version, with an update telling me it's available and if I want to download it when I go back into the about phone in settings
I'm just curious as I have checked for almost a full year now and there is no news about the cliq 2 getting an update, why is that? Also, will the cliq 2 have a chance of getting ICS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwhich)?
have been having some issues with my Cliq 2 for awhile. A few weeks ago it "ate" almost all my contacts and I since then it wouldn't let me add new contacts. I got a message about not being able to add contacts without an account but all acounts were signed in.So when i saw a new software update was available I was excited and hoping iI downloaded and installed it. Walked quickly through the family room features and then started getting repeated error from voice command (which I hadn't even tried to use). When I pulled the battery because I couldn't stop the error from coming up the phone will no longer start up. It is fully charged and will power up, give me the motoblur graphic and get to the hot pink 'work together' logo and freezes there. I'm totally lost as to what to do. Is my phone dead? What can I do to try and fix it?
I have a Motorola Cliq updated to 2.1.5 through T-mobile.Up until this weekend, I had no problem getting Data pushed through whether I was in my area or my boyfriends area (his is non 3G and he does NOT have WiFi) ...I was at his place this weekend, and my Data ONLY pushed through when I was in a WiFi area and I had WiFi enabled.he problem is, now that I'm home IN A 3G AREA my Data STILL only pushes through when WiFi is enabled. I get NO INTERNET CONNECTION at all.I can't even get my phone to be recognized through the Motorola Troubleshooter now when it IS plugged into my laptop via USB ....Hoping to avoid a reset, even though I have everything synched through my Blur acct and Gmail
I inherited a Cliq 2 from my father-in-law and I have a T-Mobile sim in it right now. When I look at the system version, it is saying 1.1.28. From all the info that I've read, the latest version is 1.1.30. I've tried doing a system update from the phone, but it tells me that I am up to date.
When is it reasonable to expect the X2 to receive the update to Gingerbread not that the Droid X is receiving it in the field? As a consumer I would have expected the newest model of the Motorola family to have been shipped with Gingerbread but seing the old model Droid X receive it before the X2 is a little puzzling.
I have a Middle East Region Motorola Atrix with froyo 2.2.2 As Gingerbread is released in US few days back so Can anybody tell me when NON US ATRIX phones are supposed to be updated to Gingerbread and do i have to update it through Software update tool or OTA update.
Late in the game, but I just updated my Cliq to 2.1. At first, the calendar was working fine, but now, it is having some issues. When I go into the calendar, it shows me a black screen with two options:"Showing events since Aug 23 2011. Tap for more.""Showing events until Aug 23 2011. Tap for more."Choosing either of those will take me to the Agenda View showing the most current events. But, If I choose to the month view, the date defaults to December of 1969. I would then need to press "Today" so that I can view the current month and year. I have searched around and looks like this has happened on the droid forum, but did not say whether if or how it was solved.
I bought a phone like 3 days ago and i was trying to update the phone, i tried to up system update to 1.32.24 but it say "The upgrade attempt has encountered an error due to failed log in" i did factory data reset like 3 times and still does work , i even made Motorola blur account on my phone
I have noticed that after the recent 2.2.2 download all the clock widgets on my Ciq 2 would not update in a timely manner. I tried a few of those. This includes the Motorola Date/Time widget. Many times the time displayed is running 10-15 minutes behind.
This morning I was prompted to download & install the new update OTA. I have attempted to do so 4-5 times now. Each time, it completes the download, reboots the phone to start the update, then when the update progress bar is about 1/2 of the way through, an icon with an exclamation point appears & then the update stops. The phone proceeds to boot up like normal. After it finishes booting up it displays a message stating that the update failed.I really would like to NOT have to do a factory reset to my phone just to get the update to install
I recently updated to 2.3 about two weeks ago. Everything was fine at first recently while typing every time I hit the space bar it takes the keyboard away. I've tried clearing the message cache.
Noticed that vzw started pushing the Gingerbread update to D2's and I decided to un root and try it out for myself. I recived an update after I un rooted and reset to factory settings but nothing Gingerbread related even after searching manually through the update check in "about phone". I am stuck on 2.2
The screen has been cracked recently, so my brother took it upon himself to buy me a Cliq (MB200) from someone off CraigsList for my birthday. I am not sure if this is the route I would had gone but it's not like he can take it back now. Luckily it is a Cliq with a T-Mobile emblem on it, which is my carrier, so there shouldnt be any problems. And it appears to be in excellent condition.OK, time to transfer the SIM card.First, we cannot get the newly purchased Cliq to recgognize my SIM card. It is an old T-Mo SIM card that has been transferred from A Samsung T-719 purchased in 2007 to a BB Pearl to a BB Curve and then to the Cliq2 bought in 2011. I do have newer SIM cards that have never been opened or activated, so that could be an option. But the SIM works fine in my Cliq2. But in the newly purchased Cliq we immediately get the "Please insert SIM card" message on the screen.Yes, we did do a factory reset and then re-tested the SIM.Wi-Fi works. We were curious if the SIM Card can't be read until we go through the Motoblur registration. Also, can the Motoblur info just be transferred from the Cliq2 to the SIM Card or SD Card so I don't have to login on the newly purchased Cliq?I forgot my Motoblur password and it is registered with an inactive email address, so a password recovery via email is not an option. Should I just open a new Motoblur account? Will it let me connect the same emails and social media accounts as the old Motoblur account?
I'm using a non-rooted device. I pulled the OTA update for gingerbread and it downloaded successfully. When it restarts it loads up to the boot screen and begins installation. It gets about 1/4 of the way before I get an exclamation error and the phone restarts. I've tried it multiple times and even formatted my phone before trying it.
Before the update, my gallery used to be able to sort by folders that I organized through computer. However, after the update it seems like the gallery put all my pictures in the same folder and can only be sorted by date, name, etc but not by folders.
Is there a way to display in folders with the stock gallery? I think the new gallery update is so inconvenient!
I got the Gingerbread update the end of last week and for the most part everything is great. Phone is much more responsive overall and the Motoblur updates seem good as well. I am having one new problem though. Three times now I've unplugged my phone from the charger in the morning and it has been locked up. The green notification light is flashing so it's not totally dead. No combination of keys will wake it up though. Have to pull the battery to reset it (which is a pain with the Body Glove case).
The release notes for Gingerbread make note of automatic dialing of conference call codes from the calendar entry:
Easy conference dialing allows you to dial the conference number and the meeting code will be automatically entered directly from your Calendar.
I have not be able to get this function to work, nor have I been able to find any references to it in the manuals or support sites. how the numbers have to be formated in the calendar entry?? Is the a 'special' field that they have to be entered?
Will there will international locale support with the Gingerbread update? I'm from Singapore, and my set has no Simplified Chinese locale available for selection in 2.2. add support for Asian languages in the next update.
I have had my DX2 for roughly three weeks, and for the most part, aside from some testing issues, it has been pretty good. With all of the information I've been reading, the OTA rollout of Gingerbread came out to the X1, but not the 2.That said, when are the updates going to come out for the 2? the fact that the companies are taking care of the earlier phone models, showing reward for loyalty, but the individuals who upgraded to the newest hardware are stuck waiting.Does anyone know when, or if we are getting the next OS?Are we moving directly to Honeycomb?I moved to a newer phone in lieu of rooting my DROID phone, and I'm happy that I did, but I am getting a little impatient. Also, I have no exposure to MOTOBLUR.Does my phone have it? Is it something I have to download? I've heard mixed reviews, but I would like to make the determination myself.
I manually pulled the gingerbread update from Systems Updates on my Droid X (stock, no root). The update was successful and today was the first day I needed to record a video using the camcorder application. I noticed that my phone defaults to DVD video quality and does not have the option for HD anymore. My wife has the same phone and we updated hers at the same time and she DOES have the HD option for the camcorder.
I have rebooted the phone as well as pulled the battery and let it sit for awhile all with no luck. Both have all the same version numbers except for PRL version, which I believeis just for roaming.
I've noticed that since the Gingerbread update, occasionally (perhaps three or four times over the past week or two) a stock widget or two disappears from my home (or other) screen. This never happened with Froyo. This morning my stock Bluetooth widget was gone and I had to reinstall it. I am almost religious about pressing the Power button while on my home page to blank the screen before placing my phone in its holster. That has always prevented inadvertent button presses on the screen.
One thing my phone used to do flawlessly before the Gingerbread update was play music. I use Pandora, Google Music, Amazon music, etc and they all worked perfectly before the update.
Since the update listening to music has become a painful experience. Audio has become extremely glitchy to the point where its unlistenable (sputtering, skipping, etc if you are familiar with an Xrun that is how I would describe it). Usually this happens when I'm listing to music while working in other apps (ie, scrolling through a feed in tweetdeck) but it sometimes happens when playing music is the only thing I'm doing with the phone.
I bought the Cliq 2 just yesterday after having my contract extended by two years. I am new to Android platform having switched from Blackberry. I was playing around with phone features and noticed that the scene mode in camera which was working yesterday is no longer accessible after the software update.
Before the gingerbread update, the LED worked great. It always blinked when I had a text message waiting for me, or anything else. After the gingerbread update, most of the time the LED won't blink if you lock the phone while still in the messaging app. It still works fine for everything else (Emails, calendar etc) but if you lock the phone before exiting out of the texting/messaging app, I would say %90 of the time the LED won't blink. If you exit the messaging app before you lock your phone, the LED works fine.
The LED worked great in froyo, sucks that's its kinda broken on gingerbread. Is this a known issue for Moto? Just adding in that I have already tried a factory reset and this did not resolve the issue.
