Motorola Droid X :: Started Flickering After Using Camera?
Apr 24, 2011
My Droid X started flickering on the screen after using the camera, does anyone know what that means? Either the menu options blink or the keyboard pops up out of nowhere. I've taken the batt & SD card out to reset, cut it off, waited, cut back on & still blinking at the bottom of the screen.
I noticed the screen started flickering on my blackberry 8520.Then all of a sudden it went off and I can't switch it back on again. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in again and that didn't work.
So my phone suddenly started flickering out of the blue. And had lines going down vertically. I restarted the phone and then the display was fine but the touch screen wouldn't work. Upon another restart it was just a blank screen with white vertical lines.
Figuring something must be wrong with the screen I ordered a new one, and upon install the new screen has the same problem. Blank screen vertical white lines. Not sure if another component is faulty.
I've recently bought a Defy+. Now that can hear a flickering noise when I turn on the camera. I tried tweaking the settings and everything but the problem is still there.
While my display is off, I've noticed these short bursts or flickering of my screen occuring every 15-20 seconds. Is this typical? It's been happening for the past few days and I have not downloaded any apps recently.
My Xperia Active is barely 3 weeks old, running Android version: 2.3.4 and latest build: 4.0.2.A.0.62. My screen brightness is kept at maximum, I have never dropped this phone or abused it and rest of it's functions are running fine. Barely a week in, it seemed to have a faintly flickering screen which I thought might have just been my eyes going. This week, the flickering has been replaced by what I would describe as "breathing" - screen brightness goes from max brightness (100%) to gradual dimness (about 78% brightness) to max brightness again - without me touching anything nor am I running out of power. This happens once in a while throught the day, not constantly. Rather alarming as I am getting very attached to this little phone.
I have been checking the SE forums since the 1st week of ownership, the flickering screen problem has been reported occuring to other SE phone models, including the Mini on which the Active has been based. I have wiped all data from my phone and gave it back to the seller for their tech to figure out. My last option if unrepairable, is to ask the seller to replace the unit. what causes the screen brightness to dim then brighten by itself (despite the latest build and software).
When looking at the Task Manager, I notice that there are multiple apps running that I never started. If I kill them or restart my phone, they come back.Amazon KindleBlockbusterGoToMeetingNFL FootballSlackerMaybe a few others.
About a week ago my Droid started blinking on and off randomly and now it will not turn on. When I plug it into the charger I can see light in the charger port. I bought the phone into my local verizon store and they tried a new battery and it still did not work.
So I've had the Turbo for about a month now and am extremely upset with the constant reboots. For the first few weeks the phone worked fine, nothing was out of the ordinary.
However, within this past week the phone has started freezing... I'll be using it and then suddenly the screen freezes and sits there and reboots itself. It does this a few times a day....
My upgrade to ICS a couple days ago went fine and I had no problems until last night when I rebooted my phone - just cuz - and then found that the only way BT now plays without stuttering is if I turn off wifi. No problem with 3G/4G, just wifi. I've removed and added both BT devices, rebooted the device again, and it makes no difference. Also stopped Bluetooth Share, cleared data - no change. Using the LG-HBS700 and the Motorola Elite Sliver. I can make a smart action to disable wifi when I turn on BT but that's got obvious drawbacks. I'm contemplating a factory reset but hate to do that if I don't need to.
I've had the Droid Turbo for a few months now, and the battery life has been great. It was the biggest reason I bought this phone in the first place. Over the past two days, however, the battery life has DRAMATICALLY downgraded. At 11 p.m. last night, I had 58% battery life with no apps running. The phone was in sleep mode. That much battery should have been able to get me through last night and ALL of TODAY. This morning, I check my phone, and I'm at 22% with the phone not in use for 8 hours.
All of the bells and whistles on this device are turned off. I don't have the reach out display thing turned on where it recognizes your movement. The screen is only taking up 30% of the battery draw. I have the bare minimum notifications turned on - the rest are off. My system did NOT update within the last two days. The battery simply seems to be freaking out.
So I preorder the RAZR and got it a day before the 11-11-11 launch. I had my phone setup and was about to go to bed and my device started a continuous reboot cycle that made the battery go dead by morning. I went to local store and the looked at it and said that they couldn't fix it will just give you a new one.I got a new RAZR and other that battery life issues which I am not happy about I can deal because I can have it charging in my office during the day. Well last night about 7 it started continuous reboot cycle this time I plugged it in and did a reset holding the power and the down volume. It been rebooting since last night I am not in my office with it plugged in.
My Razr has suddenly started the ringer volume bar coming up on the screen by itself. I can only get it off the screen by turning my phone off and then back on again. Then after a period of time, it comes back up again. This is killing my battery life.
Does Motorola intentionally make their new products inferior at release?I've been using a Droid and a Droid 2 for about 18 months.I shoot a lot of pictures outdoors, some macro, lots of nature and concerts.I also shoot indoors under challenging conditions (concert lighting.) They have both prtovided a passable point-and-shoot camera. The Droid 3 camera is dissapointing in that several important features have vanished:
-There is auto white balance, only a manual and difficult-to-use control. -The user can no longer set ISO -The user can no longer set EV -Focus is iffy under a variety of conditions -Photos have a bluish cast under most conditions, with and without flash
So instead of getting pretty good shots with a convenient camera, I'm getting washed-out, bluish garbage.(Issues with the video vs. Droid 2 also, in a separate post.)I want to know if Motorola intends to make the experience of this camera catch up with the spec soon, or if i should return my phone while I can still get something else from Verizon.
Screen has a line flickering through it, and the graphics also are starting to flicker. When I open the camera, the graphics invert to look like 'pop art', and then the camera crashes. When using other applications sometimes the app crashes, to a black screen and usually the graphics invert. The only way to rectify is to put the phone to sleep, then when i wake it up - its back to normal, until the next time...? Its becoming more and more frequent, and has been happening for 6 days now.
I used my Droid Turbo a month ago to shoot some outdoor pictures and the camera worked great. Today, however I attempted to use the camera and the app froze and the phone rebooted. I uninstalled the built-in camera updates and reinstalled them and the result was the same - load the app and the phone reboots. I tried installing another camera app and the result was the same as the built-in camera app.
My camera has started taken washed out pictures (the phone is only 7/8 weeks old)... This happened on my iPhone and it turned out I had not taken the protective sticky cover off...
I have looked hard at the lens and I can see that there 'could' be a plastic sticky protective cover as it 'looks' like there are scratch marks on it... But after trying to pick at the edges gently, nothing seems to start to remove...?????
I got a Xoom 2 ME a couple of days ago, and experienced flickering of the icons in the Market and the system hung a few times. I had to do a hard reset to get the tablet to respond to anything other than the off button.
Thinking this was a hardware fault, I returned the ME and got a 10.1 Xoom 2 instead (the ME was just a little too small for my eyes when viewing the Times newspaper).
Now I'm seeing exactly the same behaviour, so it looks like there it's a software issue...
I had a Motorola CLIQ for about a year already and after all the trouble i had with it...i dealt with it. Then last week my phone was totally messed up with the ghost screen problem (screen moves by itself). SO i called T-Mobile and like always the only thing to do is to reboot which i already did once when my phone was stuck on the moto blur screen. I asked for new one with my warranty. 5 days later (today) i get a new CLIQ. Started it up...waiting...Moto Blur sign in screen comes up...sign in...waiting...google sign in screen comes up...sign in...waiting...DONE! NOW I CAN FINALLY TEXT! i guessed wrong. The normal screen comes up with the green leaves with the old vesion of Android 1.5 (Cupcake) and then all of the sudden the screen turns black. The notification window (on the top) shows but under that its just black. 1 second later it shows the wallpaper...and then another second later it shows the black screen and has been doing that for 4 hours already. I pulled out the battery turned it off, charged it but nothing works and I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT ANOTHER 5 DAYS TO GET A NEW PHONE THATS ALREADY BROKEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. Is anyone having or had the same problem because i cant get anywhere through my phone. I also put a video since i dont see this problem anywhere in the forums.
My bold 9900 Camera recently started displaying a thin pink line across the screen horizontally. This affects both pictures and videos captured with the camera.
Here is a user installable faster camera until Moto fixes the speed of the current camera. It is installable under normla conditions (as long as you check install from unknown sources).
Back in August 2011, shortly after an OTA Update, I noticed the focus function was no longer working.Sometime around October, I finally was fed up enough that I tried to do something about the problem. Unfortunately, my warranty had expired in Sept. Verizon Tech Support suggested a factory reset, so I did this. With no apps installed, I first tested the camera, and the focus still did not work. I reloaded all my apps and set up the phone, and, of course, this made no difference. At this point, I gave up and assumed this functionality had failed.
In November, I realized that the focus feature had begun working again. The only thing I'm aware of having happened is that the phone fell off of a coffee table onto the floor the day before. The phone was in a case and the table was about 18" high. I am sure that I did not load or unload any apps during that time. I may have recieved an update to an app, but since the focus did not work after factory reset, I doubt this to be a factor. The focus feature has been working up until today! I used the focus on NYE and all was well. No changes from then to when I discovered focus to be dead again. Here's a list of what I've done after the 2nd failure of focus:Shut down/battery pull Uninstall Shop Savy (uses camera), shut down/battery pull Install Vignette Demo to see if that app could access the focus. Nope.Uninstall Vignette Demo, shut down/battery pull Clear Data for Camera App under App Management, shut down/battery pull Force Close, then clear data for Camera app, shut down/battery pull.Lighting, ambient temperature, with/without case, inside, outside, upside down (j/k) doesn't seem to help. Can one of the Motorola guys (or anyone who knows for sure) tell me how the focus works? Is it a mechancial thing or is it all digitial? My theory is that either something mechanical is stuck or some sort of electrical connection has lost continuity.
My camera on my new xt5 that I bought is not working it never worked even straight out of the box, is there an update or software patch that can fix this, I've tried everything resetting it twice taken out the sd card putting in a new one nothing works it just fails, when i touch the camera or camcorder button the screen just goes all black and stays like that indefinably... until I press the home button. Absolute failure.
While the Droid X2 is a nice phone, I've found another bug.Sometimes when I try to open my camera my phone will just hang at a black screen.I'll hear a click from the camera itself, but the phone stays on a black screen and sometimes I have to do a battery pull. I don't use the SD card that came with the phone, for what its worth.
I don't understand why Motorola decided to not include a camera button on the Droid 4 (or 3 for that matter). I use the camera button on my Droid whenever I want to take a picture, as it's a quick and easy way to do it. The Droid 4 requires me to go to the home screen, then to the app drawer if I don't have the shortcut.
