Motorola Droid Razr HD :: Lag When Moving To The Quick Settings Screen?
Dec 2, 2012Man, the battery on this phone is amazing. So much I love about it. However, I have noticed that there are times when I move from the default screen to the Quick Settings screen on the left, that there is significant lag. Once you move over, sliding back and forth is smoother. But that initial lag seems like a problem; I have a friend with a Droid Razr M that does not have this problem (he is on official Jelly Bean, think this makes a difference?) Does anyone else see this lag?

Oct 31, 2012I just upgraded from the RAZR to the RAZR Maxx HD and I am loving it.I have, though, missed some features and options and was hoping I was overlooking them.First, I noticed that you can add new home panels but is there a way to select which panel you want as the main home screen?Also, I loved the fact that in my RAZR I could customize app categories in the app menu.Is there an option for this in the RAZR HD?I know there is a favorites panel but I loved having a news, shopping, and travel panel as well.

Apr 13, 2012 The My Gallery app on the Razr/Razr Maxx automatically chooses photographs to display on the opening screen of My Gallery. Some of these photos are of contact photos of people I don't want to look at all the time such as business associates. I would prefer to replace the photos of my choosing such as pictures of my family, friends , vacation etc.
Is there any way to re-select the photos that are displayed on the opening My Gallery screen?
Motorola Droid Razr :: Widgets And 3G/4G Toggling?
Jul 2, 2012ICS lacks two important features: 1) stand-alone native toggles for GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, airplane mode, etc. (lack of these was one of the reasons i returned the galaxy nexus and replaced it with the Maxx) and 2) a clean easy way of toggling between 3G/4G. Im aware of the LTE on/off app from the market but it's not as clean, simple, and easy as the way you could toggle between CDMA and LTE before. Hoping motorola adds these back someday....

When I disabled stock text and got sms pro it defaulted to this. Has anyone else figured out how to customized these apps? My friend is running a JB rom on his nexus and was able to have something like 10(maybe more) customisable apps located on his unlock wheel.

Jun 29, 2012Have noticed that if I add a new widget from the market, the only way to get it to show up in the app tray is to power off/on the phone. I check the Apps Manager, and they are there, but not in the Apps/Widget tray until the power off/on sequence.
Do we need a refresh option in the tray or is this an isolated issue with my phone. Has anyone else experienced this.

Jul 9, 2012I've noticed that after the ICS update, newly downloaded and installed widgets from Google Play don't show up in the Widgets list until I reboot. Not a critical bug, but annoying nonetheless. I have noticed this on my Acer A500 and A100 tablets on ICS as well, so I assume it's an OS problem, not hardware-specific. Wondering if anyone has found a workaround, and would also like Moto to be aware of this so that it can be corrected in the (hopefully) next update.

Jul 13, 2012I got the ICS update, but now my smart actions cannot control notification volume...? Also, I cannot link volumes anymore, so the volume buttons do nothing for me anymore. Turn down ringer, sure....but then notifications and alerts just blast through without having to manually adjust each one! Why was this removedAlso, since the update, the emal widget only allows you to select either one account to display, or all combined?? Why? I have 6 accounts...combined view is just a mess. On GB, you could select the account right there on the widget. Now, you have to go into the email, then switch it. Even then, the widget reverts to the first one you set up. This is annoying and I do not get why this would be removed?That is the same for the news widget and the social media app...where did they go? They were better than any other widgets out there and now they are gone...unless I am just looking in the wrong place?

Dec 8, 2012Is it just me or with the upgrade to JB has Moto taken the colume controls on this phone and downgraded the performance of the speaker?
Having mild hearing loss I loved the fact that with this phone my ringtones and notification sounds could wake up the dead. For normal situations I would have to slide the volume controls to the mid point of the slide bar, but when I was in a noisy environment I could slide the controls all the way to the right and be sure I wouldn't miss a call. Now after the upgrade it seems like even with the slider controls all the way to the right the volume is no where nearly as loud as it used to be.
Is this just me or did Moto make a change with the update? If so is there anyway to get back to the pehnenomal speaker performance we had under ICS?
Motorola Droid Razr :: Music App Quick Review / Can't Add Own Podcast Feeds
Nov 17, 2011So I had a chance to start and really flex the stock music app.This application is a huge improvment over the GB one on the DX.I was able to subscribe to a few podcasts like *** with Marc Maron with no problems.I was notified this morning that a new episode had been downloaded to the RAZR.I can not add my own podcast feeds , which means ones that I have paid subscriptions to will have to find a different application (PodTrapper is what I used on my DX).
The application was able to find my music easily and even downloaded the cover art While playing a song the application with scrob to Last.fm if configured.It will also download the Lyrics for the playing song and show them on the screen.The application will show recommended news, songs that are related.I did not have time to try out Motocast yet and I am hoping to get to it this weekend..While playing either a podcast or music you can have the application running in the background to listen and allows quick access via the notifications bar.If the screen is locked you have quick access to pause/play and skip forward/backwards in your playlist.I found this to work very well.One issue that I did find is that if you are listening to a podcast and you use the application to pause ( not from a lock screen ) it will not pause, but will end the episode and then you must restart and try to move to last place it was playing.A few things that could be added to make this perfect.
1. Allow me to add my own podcast subscriptions along with ones that require authentication
2. Fix the pause button for podcasts
3. Allow me to add Google Music and or Amazon Cloud Music as a music source
Motorola Droid Razr :: Select Dock Type Always Pops Up Now
Mar 12, 2012Issue started a few days ago, around March 9th-10th 2012. Got this new Razr this past January and this "Select Dock Type" pops up either from the unlock screen (when selecting the camera) or when opening other apps (e.g. a geo-cache app, sms texting etc). Doesn't matter if you tell it to remember the setting. Another symptom, status bar indicates "HDMI cable connected" when in fact, I've never connected it to an hdmi cable.
When trying to use the camera, there is no display to allow you to see what you're shooting. This is with either front or rear facing modes or video. Interestingly, when I do select the camera from the unlock screen, it'll display but then the "Select Dock Type" popup appears. Closing it makes the display go away leaving me to guess what I'm going to snap and then looking at the thumbnail in the upper left corner to see what got snapped.Stopped at verizon store and agent said this is a known issue. I could either replace my brand new phone with a refurb or wait a few weeks for an update that'll hopefully correct this as it was acknowledged to affect a small number on phones built before December.Is there some other way to get rid of this annoying popup? Tried connecting it to hdmi dock at verizon store but no-go.

I have tried it with my gmail address and some other addresses and it doesnt seem to do anything.I press quick upload on a picture and it says uploading to myaddress@gmail.com or whatever, but then when I check my accounts I dont see anything, the picture just went nowhere?

Oct 18, 2012I frequently hit adjacent keys while texting on my old Droid X. A larger screen and of course 4G and a faster processor were appealing as well. As the Razr HD models sport screens almost as large as the S3 I ran to see them on their first day out of the gates. What a disappointment! Holding my old Droid X up against them I saw that the usable screen sizes were identical. Namely 4.3" unless playing videos in which case the video filled up the Razr HD's 4.7" screen. I couldn't find anything else that would fill up the screen. Perhaps, photos might. But internet browsing, texting and whatever else I tried occupied a 4.3" inset within the 4.7" screen. So why have a 4.7" screen at all? The Galaxy S3 on the other hand fills up the entire 4.8" screen with not only video but everything else, including texting, messaging, web browsing, and everything else I tried. So what gives? Why did you even create a 4.7" screen if you aren't going to utilize it to its full potential?

If my RAZR is plugged into a power outlet and is fully charged, it is very difficult/almost impossible to unlock the screen. I grab the unlock spot on the left ant try to slide it to the right, but it takes several tries, using extra force to get it to slide. Underneath the slide bar I see the message that my RAZR is fully charged and to unplug it from the outlet.If I unplug it first, it unlocks just fine. Guy I work with just got a new one and it's the same way. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this? Obviously this isn't a big deal, but was just curious.

Dec 4, 2012On Oct 20, we switched from AT&T to Verizon Wireless after being with AT&T for over 10 years. We had iPhones and had to get new phones when we switched. The Verizon salesperson convinced me and my adult daughter to get the RAZR HD that had just come out and he said it was better than the iPhone. My husband stayed with an iPhone because he is a commercial pilot and needed to use aviation apps that were not available on a DROID phone. Initially we were very impressed with the RAZR HD until my daughter had a problem with hers after just 20 days of use. She is an EMT and was on duty sitting in her ambulance. She has to have a phone on her while working. She used her phone several times and had it in her front pocket. She took the phone out of her pocket to call us and the screen was black and not functioning—a few minutes before it was working fine. She noticed some spider cracks in the LCD at the edge of the screen. She took the phone back to the store where it was purchased and the Verizon salesperson accused her of abusing/dropping it and said she would have to file an insurance claim which would cost $99. I was shocked. Our iPhones had heavy mobile use and were even dropped several times, including on cement, but never failed. I told our daughter we had no intention of filing an insurance claim for a defective product that should be covered under warranty. For all we know, it had damage before we even bought it from Verizon. But when she contacted Motorola, they said a screen failure due to a cracked screen was not covered but she could send it in to be evaluated. When we read the warranty, it does not say this. It says it doesn't cover damage caused by accidents, abuse, misuse, including improper usage or operation, abuse or neglect, or impact damage, such as dropping the phone. The phone had not been dropped, abused, or misused. There is not a scratch or any physical damage on the phone and the glass. The phone failed under normal use. The LCD screen under the glass fractured. Normal use should not cause this unless there was a manufacturer's defect in the phone. I.contacted my dad who works with digital and analog wireless technologies/hardware, and he told us to file a warranty claim. He said the phone has an accelerometer in it that detects G-force and impact and Motorola should provide us the data that shows the phone was impacted outside the tolerance thresholds for normal use. Well clearly Motorola and Verizon are just scamming customers and ripping them off. How convenient for Motorola to automatically tell a client all screen failures are due to customer damage. We should have stuck with iPhones and the AppleCare. Apple stands behind the quality of their products and would have never questioned replacing a phone for a defective LCD, i.e., no broken glass, just screen failure. You get a replacement on the spot. Oh but not Motorola—mail it in and then you are without a phone for how long??? We are going on 24 days now. Motorola got the phone and sent a picture of the phone screen (included) and said it was physically damaged—said it would cost $99 to fix—interesting how that is the same amount as the Verizon insurance deductible. Really--they are insulting my intelligence... I called them up and told them to provide me the accelerometer data—I wanted proof the phone was damaged by us and not defective. They still have the phone and have not responded to my request for over a week now. I told customer service that Motorola should be ready for a fight—we will file a report with the FTC and the BBB if they don't repair or replace the phone at no cost. I am very angry about this poor customer service. If we dropped the phone and cracked it up, well that is what insurance is for and that is why we bought the insurance. I would not expect Motorola to fix a phone for free if we broke it, but this is not the case and it is just outrageous. I am worried the same thing will soon happen to my RAZR HD which has overheated while it was charging. The phone is so thin that any expansion in the case is going to put pressure on the LCD. I am wondering how we are going to make it through a 2-year contract with Verizon when the Motorola phone can't even handle normal mobile use. I used my AT&T iPhone 3Gs for over 3 years before switching to Verizon and the RAZR HD and the iPhone still works well as a Smart device for email, photos and music. Clearly Apple has a superior product and also knows how to take care of customers. We called Motorola customer service again today since we aren't seeing any information online regarding the current status of our phone, and they couldn't even tell us what the status is. They have had the phone for over 2 weeks. If Motorola doesn't do what is right, they will lose us as customers. This is so frustrating.

Jun 16, 2012I just got my Razr Maxx and charged it before using it. When the screen time out and goes to sleep i can´t turn it back on by pressing power button. I can turn it back on by doing soft reset (pressing power button and vol down) when doing soft restart I don´t have to press pin number, as needed when i turn the phone off and back on. When the phone is in the charger there i no problem.
