Brand new Car Dock and Razr. Installed and all good working no problems for first 2 days,then when I dock the RAZR it does not change to the car navigation screen or start to charge.Power light on the power cable. RAZR charges and transfers data via other cables.

Please forgive me if there is an existing thread.I want to get a case for my Droid Razr Maxx HD, but I also want to keep using my Vehicle Navigation Dock. Does anyone know of / own a case for the Razr Maxx HD that still allows the phone to fit in the dock? I don't want to have to pull the case off to dock it every time I get in the car.

Currently,if my phone is in the car dock and I press the home button, it takes me to my regular home screen. To get to the vehicle home screen, I have to pull down the notification bar and select the notification. I am currently using GO Launcher, but I think the issue still occurs with the stock launcher.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is something I've dealt with and have tried to address ever since ICS was released. Each night I set my phone into the standard dock (non-usb one), and the bedside mode comes up as it should and the screen dims after a minute or so as it should. It is usually around 10 to 15 minutes after I dock the phone that the problem occurs. What happens: The bedside alarm app is removed from the screen, revealing the home screen in landscape mode. My screen then times out (shuts off) as it should, because the bedside alarm clock is not the active window. My alarms work fine, but I can't see what time it is when I wake up before my alarm goes off unless I turn the screen on and look at the lock screen. I've tried factory resets, fxz file, removing all apps from recent apps list, resetting the alarm app data, nothing seems to.

We have two razr's both have all the same apps. We use chompsms as our texting app. On one phone it shows on the lock screen (Pic below) on the other it does not. BOTH have the stock app unchecked for default app, neither have disabled the stock app because it causes MMS problems. how one of us has it on our home lock screen and the other can't get it to do that? We didn't go to any settings to do it. BOTH of us had to do a master reset on our phones since the ICS update.
I've compared our settings and they seem to match it's really weird.
I noticed that the phone knew that it is placed in a dock (vs a charger) and it also knows what type of dock it is (Car, HD, etc.)How does it work, is it custom USB wiring? a magnet?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWe send a droid razr for repair on 8/22 and it was received on 8/24. Received an email at 11:03 on 8/27 that the problem with the phone is not covered under the warrantee and to contact Motorola as soon as possible to authorize and pay for the repair. I agreed to pay $125 plus tax to repair the screen as long as the overheating and battery not holding a charge was looked into. Today I called to see what was going on and was advised that she (rep) has no idea and would send an email and get back to me within 24-24 hours. I advised that was not acceptable and I was sent to the Repair Escalation Department, Curtis advised me the exact same thing and when i explained that my phone has been with Motorola since 8/24 and they have had my payment since 8/27 and that originally I was advised that the repair would be done and the phone back to me within 5 business days and we were now at 8 and I needed to speak to a supervision he stated that he was the supervisor and there was no one above him to talk to. Someone please explain how I am getting the same exact information (none with a 24 to 48 hour wait time) from customer service and the Repair Escalation Department?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI frequently hit adjacent keys while texting on my old Droid X. A larger screen and of course 4G and a faster processor were appealing as well. As the Razr HD models sport screens almost as large as the S3 I ran to see them on their first day out of the gates. What a disappointment! Holding my old Droid X up against them I saw that the usable screen sizes were identical. Namely 4.3" unless playing videos in which case the video filled up the Razr HD's 4.7" screen. I couldn't find anything else that would fill up the screen. Perhaps, photos might. But internet browsing, texting and whatever else I tried occupied a 4.3" inset within the 4.7" screen. So why have a 4.7" screen at all? The Galaxy S3 on the other hand fills up the entire 4.8" screen with not only video but everything else, including texting, messaging, web browsing, and everything else I tried. So what gives? Why did you even create a 4.7" screen if you aren't going to utilize it to its full potential?

View 9 Replies View RelatedPrior to the ICS update, there was a setting which prevented the phone from "sleeping" (turning off the screen and locking the device) while plugged into a power supply (and therefore, also plugged into my car dock since I always plug it into the cigarette lighter while plugged into the car dock).
I don't see that setting since ICS was installed. Of course, I can turn off the "Display power saver" option, which will prevent it from dimming, but the "Sleep" setting has options of 15 seconds to 10 minutes, no option to not sleep at all.
Because of the lack of this setting, I have to keep tapping the phone to keep it awake while using the Google Maps Navigation app. This is distracting and should be unnecesssary.
Every time I shut down and restart my RM, or add a new app from the store, it empties the program icons I have in the dock bar at the bottom of the screen! The "apps" icon stays, but the others that I place there because they're the ones I use frequently all disappear, and I have to put them back into the dock bar.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter the Jelly Bean update I want to throw the vehicle mount out the window almost every day! they removed any way to get to your home screens while the phone is mounted in the vehicle dock.When the phone is docked in a Motorola vehicle mount the phones "Home" button always takes you to the Vehicle Dock software rather than your home screen. In the past that was fine because the Vehcile Dock software provided another way to get to your home screen. Before the Jelly Bean update, when the phone was docked you just tapped the home icon in the lower left corner of the Vehicle Dock application. Now after the Jelly Bean update that home icon has been replaced with a back button. That button now takes you to the last active app rather than the home screen (something you could also do by touching the "recent apps" button).
This works fine to take you to the home screen if that was the last thing you were doing before mounting the phone in the vehicle dock and you haven't started any other app. Once you start doing something like navigating to a location, the back button will just take you to that running app. Is there a way to get to your home screens without removing the phone from the dock? Or, Is there an app that will just take you to your home screen, as if you had touched the phones "home" button? I could add that as one of the 6 apps that can be added to the Vehicle Dock application.
After purchasing the HD dock, a set of external speakers, and setting the "Alarm & timer" app to play music I was disapopointed to find that the music only plays over the phone's speaker, and not through the external dock audio.I downloaded and installed both "Alarm clock plus" and "Alarm Clock Xtreme Free".Only "Alarm Clock Xtreme Free" has a setting that allows the alarm music to play over the external dock audio.I really would like to use the stock app, if for no other reason that it will auto run when placed into the HD dock.

On Oct 20, we switched from AT&T to Verizon Wireless after being with AT&T for over 10 years. We had iPhones and had to get new phones when we switched. The Verizon salesperson convinced me and my adult daughter to get the RAZR HD that had just come out and he said it was better than the iPhone. My husband stayed with an iPhone because he is a commercial pilot and needed to use aviation apps that were not available on a DROID phone. Initially we were very impressed with the RAZR HD until my daughter had a problem with hers after just 20 days of use. She is an EMT and was on duty sitting in her ambulance. She has to have a phone on her while working. She used her phone several times and had it in her front pocket. She took the phone out of her pocket to call us and the screen was black and not functioning—a few minutes before it was working fine. She noticed some spider cracks in the LCD at the edge of the screen. She took the phone back to the store where it was purchased and the Verizon salesperson accused her of abusing/dropping it and said she would have to file an insurance claim which would cost $99. I was shocked. Our iPhones had heavy mobile use and were even dropped several times, including on cement, but never failed. I told our daughter we had no intention of filing an insurance claim for a defective product that should be covered under warranty. For all we know, it had damage before we even bought it from Verizon. But when she contacted Motorola, they said a screen failure due to a cracked screen was not covered but she could send it in to be evaluated. When we read the warranty, it does not say this. It says it doesn't cover damage caused by accidents, abuse, misuse, including improper usage or operation, abuse or neglect, or impact damage, such as dropping the phone. The phone had not been dropped, abused, or misused. There is not a scratch or any physical damage on the phone and the glass. The phone failed under normal use. The LCD screen under the glass fractured. Normal use should not cause this unless there was a manufacturer's defect in the phone. I.contacted my dad who works with digital and analog wireless technologies/hardware, and he told us to file a warranty claim. He said the phone has an accelerometer in it that detects G-force and impact and Motorola should provide us the data that shows the phone was impacted outside the tolerance thresholds for normal use. Well clearly Motorola and Verizon are just scamming customers and ripping them off. How convenient for Motorola to automatically tell a client all screen failures are due to customer damage. We should have stuck with iPhones and the AppleCare. Apple stands behind the quality of their products and would have never questioned replacing a phone for a defective LCD, i.e., no broken glass, just screen failure. You get a replacement on the spot. Oh but not Motorola—mail it in and then you are without a phone for how long??? We are going on 24 days now. Motorola got the phone and sent a picture of the phone screen (included) and said it was physically damaged—said it would cost $99 to fix—interesting how that is the same amount as the Verizon insurance deductible. Really--they are insulting my intelligence... I called them up and told them to provide me the accelerometer data—I wanted proof the phone was damaged by us and not defective. They still have the phone and have not responded to my request for over a week now. I told customer service that Motorola should be ready for a fight—we will file a report with the FTC and the BBB if they don't repair or replace the phone at no cost. I am very angry about this poor customer service. If we dropped the phone and cracked it up, well that is what insurance is for and that is why we bought the insurance. I would not expect Motorola to fix a phone for free if we broke it, but this is not the case and it is just outrageous. I am worried the same thing will soon happen to my RAZR HD which has overheated while it was charging. The phone is so thin that any expansion in the case is going to put pressure on the LCD. I am wondering how we are going to make it through a 2-year contract with Verizon when the Motorola phone can't even handle normal mobile use. I used my AT&T iPhone 3Gs for over 3 years before switching to Verizon and the RAZR HD and the iPhone still works well as a Smart device for email, photos and music. Clearly Apple has a superior product and also knows how to take care of customers. We called Motorola customer service again today since we aren't seeing any information online regarding the current status of our phone, and they couldn't even tell us what the status is. They have had the phone for over 2 weeks. If Motorola doesn't do what is right, they will lose us as customers. This is so frustrating.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIssue started a few days ago, around March 9th-10th 2012. Got this new Razr this past January and this "Select Dock Type" pops up either from the unlock screen (when selecting the camera) or when opening other apps (e.g. a geo-cache app, sms texting etc). Doesn't matter if you tell it to remember the setting. Another symptom, status bar indicates "HDMI cable connected" when in fact, I've never connected it to an hdmi cable.
When trying to use the camera, there is no display to allow you to see what you're shooting. This is with either front or rear facing modes or video. Interestingly, when I do select the camera from the unlock screen, it'll display but then the "Select Dock Type" popup appears. Closing it makes the display go away leaving me to guess what I'm going to snap and then looking at the thumbnail in the upper left corner to see what got snapped.Stopped at verizon store and agent said this is a known issue. I could either replace my brand new phone with a refurb or wait a few weeks for an update that'll hopefully correct this as it was acknowledged to affect a small number on phones built before December.Is there some other way to get rid of this annoying popup? Tried connecting it to hdmi dock at verizon store but no-go.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I use the Vehicle Nav Dock a lot. I live in NC, where we've had record heat (6 days straight of 103+ temps) and I leave my dock suction cupped to my windshield. Probably not the smartest idea as now the dock itself is warped and I have to give it a little bit of elbow grease to get it to lock in and connect.It hasn't lost any functionality and I love the new look of the dock and the ability to access any of your apps from the nav screen with the ICS update.

The 2nd time (same day) I hit cancel after I heard the message and since then it will not pop up and read me the message anymore. If I have my headphones plugged directly into the dock itself the volume is considerably lower and have to have the media volume all the way up. When I have the headphones plugged directly into the phone the sound levels are normal. Would really like to be able to just keep my headphones plugged into the back of the dock - how to increase the dock volume?

Voice search (the app you get to by holding search) and Soundhound give me errors every time I try to use them with the vehicle dock connected. If I disconnect the vehicle dock, they work again, and as soon as I reconnect it they quit working.
Strangely enough, the app "Text by Voice" seems to be unaffected.
My car dock charger stopped charging my RAZR but works on my wife's HTC but my older Moto vehicle charger still works. It also seems as if it takes a very long time to chage the battery even on my original RAZR home charger.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Razr Maxx, Motorola Car NavDock and the app Motorola Car Finder. My question, is there a way to disable the app asking me if I want to mark my car's location when the phone is removed from the dock. My use case is when I get home, clearly I don't need to mark my car's location when I'm at home. The app opens and asks me if I want to mark my location. I also explored using Smart Actions to do this but no luck there either. You would think you could mark locations so the app knows by GPS location that you don't need to mark this location to find your car.
