I just got this phone yesterday (6/19) and there is one thing that I cannot figure out. When in sound setting there are check marks next to audible touch tones when using dial pad, audible selection when making screen selections, and screen lock sounds, but I don't get any sounds. Sounds work great for everything else. Volume is up.
View 8 RepliesI have noticed when I talk to people, I hear a random 'touch tone' like sound very intermittently.This happens if I make or receive a call and is not just when I talk to other Verizon customers.My home phone used to do this (VoIP) at times. Same sound but now its on the Razr.I never heard this calling the same people when I was on Sprint.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo there I was saving an alien world by killing one jelly at a time when my screen completely quit responding to touch. First thought was my Razr just had its first freeze/reboot but the sound was still going and the jellies still marching toward my precious gems. Instantly realized my Razr was ignoring me. Tried my side keys and they worked as usual, sound keys toggled sound up and down and lock key locked/opened power menu but was unable to select any options as the touch sense was still out to lunch. It's been almost a half hour and the screen is stuck on the lock screen and won't even dim. Which coincidentally is a good thing b/c it's way to much work to pull the battery on these things .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI ordered a new Razr and noticed black spots and a perfectly straight black line on the screen when the screen is a certain shade of black. I noticed the spots while watching netflix and after taking a picture. I contacted VZW about it and they werent aware of any issues. I was concerned since I paid a lot for the phone I expect it to be better than that. So VZW sent me another new one without a problem. The second one had the same problem but more noticable. Also with both phones the screen would get really hot almost too hot to touch.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my brand new Razr (24hrs old!) - I have noticed that when the phone boots and the SD card is mounted, there is an Audible sound "DROID" - and its annoying. (Now, I am not talking about the mechanical sound/video that fires up when the phone boots). In Sound Settings I find a section called "SD Card Notifications". You can turn that off or on and here is the odd part. If I turn it On, it will use whatever I have the "Notification Ringtone" set at. That makes sense. If I turn if Off, it will use my "Phone Ring Tone"! - A long MP3... This does not make sense. In other words, I cannot silence it and I would like to. The phone does have a "Silent" ring tone (internally) but it is not one of the available "Notification Ringtones" I can use.

On the DX, all sounds and alerts were muted for an app while I was activly using it. I don't want chat alerts WHILE I am chatting.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI went to a seminar yesterday and turned the sound off on the phone using the volume keys. The icon showed the speaker with the slash over it. But then I accidentally hit the voice commands button and the phone started talking. Is there any way to make the phone be totally silent-so that if I went to a web page or hit the voice commands or anything else that makes noise it would still not make any sound?

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I had my Incredible I was able to set a different notification sound for each Gmail account (2), Facebook, voice-mail, texting, etc. When I do this on my Maxx with ICS whatever the last one is that I set up automatically becomes the :default sound" and all the apps use that sound...it overrides the sound that I set in each individual app. How can I get what I want done?

It would be nice if you could do that with the notifications also, like text and email etc. Cause sometimes I can't just get my phone out cause I'm doing something or have my hands full and so on. It should be like that with all of the sound where you can just hit the power button to silence the ringer on everything.

There's no message corresponding, no notifications. Just random alert sounds and i don't have Highwire set to any apps or alerts.I don't really want to remove the 10 apps or so i've installed in the past few days, i'd rather get down to the source of the problem

I replaced the whole assembly (including mic+antenna) and now I have no sound (ringers, keyboard, etc) on my device. I checked the switch (orange dot) and I've performed a soft reset and a complete restore, with no luck.
If I plug in headphones, I hear everything fine through the headphones themselves. Unplugged, back to no sound.
Ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also, if there might be another part that can use replacement, please let me know.
I frequently hit adjacent keys while texting on my old Droid X. A larger screen and of course 4G and a faster processor were appealing as well. As the Razr HD models sport screens almost as large as the S3 I ran to see them on their first day out of the gates. What a disappointment! Holding my old Droid X up against them I saw that the usable screen sizes were identical. Namely 4.3" unless playing videos in which case the video filled up the Razr HD's 4.7" screen. I couldn't find anything else that would fill up the screen. Perhaps, photos might. But internet browsing, texting and whatever else I tried occupied a 4.3" inset within the 4.7" screen. So why have a 4.7" screen at all? The Galaxy S3 on the other hand fills up the entire 4.8" screen with not only video but everything else, including texting, messaging, web browsing, and everything else I tried. So what gives? Why did you even create a 4.7" screen if you aren't going to utilize it to its full potential?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOn Oct 20, we switched from AT&T to Verizon Wireless after being with AT&T for over 10 years. We had iPhones and had to get new phones when we switched. The Verizon salesperson convinced me and my adult daughter to get the RAZR HD that had just come out and he said it was better than the iPhone. My husband stayed with an iPhone because he is a commercial pilot and needed to use aviation apps that were not available on a DROID phone. Initially we were very impressed with the RAZR HD until my daughter had a problem with hers after just 20 days of use. She is an EMT and was on duty sitting in her ambulance. She has to have a phone on her while working. She used her phone several times and had it in her front pocket. She took the phone out of her pocket to call us and the screen was black and not functioning—a few minutes before it was working fine. She noticed some spider cracks in the LCD at the edge of the screen. She took the phone back to the store where it was purchased and the Verizon salesperson accused her of abusing/dropping it and said she would have to file an insurance claim which would cost $99. I was shocked. Our iPhones had heavy mobile use and were even dropped several times, including on cement, but never failed. I told our daughter we had no intention of filing an insurance claim for a defective product that should be covered under warranty. For all we know, it had damage before we even bought it from Verizon. But when she contacted Motorola, they said a screen failure due to a cracked screen was not covered but she could send it in to be evaluated. When we read the warranty, it does not say this. It says it doesn't cover damage caused by accidents, abuse, misuse, including improper usage or operation, abuse or neglect, or impact damage, such as dropping the phone. The phone had not been dropped, abused, or misused. There is not a scratch or any physical damage on the phone and the glass. The phone failed under normal use. The LCD screen under the glass fractured. Normal use should not cause this unless there was a manufacturer's defect in the phone. I.contacted my dad who works with digital and analog wireless technologies/hardware, and he told us to file a warranty claim. He said the phone has an accelerometer in it that detects G-force and impact and Motorola should provide us the data that shows the phone was impacted outside the tolerance thresholds for normal use. Well clearly Motorola and Verizon are just scamming customers and ripping them off. How convenient for Motorola to automatically tell a client all screen failures are due to customer damage. We should have stuck with iPhones and the AppleCare. Apple stands behind the quality of their products and would have never questioned replacing a phone for a defective LCD, i.e., no broken glass, just screen failure. You get a replacement on the spot. Oh but not Motorola—mail it in and then you are without a phone for how long??? We are going on 24 days now. Motorola got the phone and sent a picture of the phone screen (included) and said it was physically damaged—said it would cost $99 to fix—interesting how that is the same amount as the Verizon insurance deductible. Really--they are insulting my intelligence... I called them up and told them to provide me the accelerometer data—I wanted proof the phone was damaged by us and not defective. They still have the phone and have not responded to my request for over a week now. I told customer service that Motorola should be ready for a fight—we will file a report with the FTC and the BBB if they don't repair or replace the phone at no cost. I am very angry about this poor customer service. If we dropped the phone and cracked it up, well that is what insurance is for and that is why we bought the insurance. I would not expect Motorola to fix a phone for free if we broke it, but this is not the case and it is just outrageous. I am worried the same thing will soon happen to my RAZR HD which has overheated while it was charging. The phone is so thin that any expansion in the case is going to put pressure on the LCD. I am wondering how we are going to make it through a 2-year contract with Verizon when the Motorola phone can't even handle normal mobile use. I used my AT&T iPhone 3Gs for over 3 years before switching to Verizon and the RAZR HD and the iPhone still works well as a Smart device for email, photos and music. Clearly Apple has a superior product and also knows how to take care of customers. We called Motorola customer service again today since we aren't seeing any information online regarding the current status of our phone, and they couldn't even tell us what the status is. They have had the phone for over 2 weeks. If Motorola doesn't do what is right, they will lose us as customers. This is so frustrating.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI swore I could hear them when I first got this phone back in early November. I just noticed as I was keying in a phone number, the touch tone is barely audible. Like I held my ear to the rear speaker, and the sound is very faint. I have Sounds:Dial pad touch-tones checked. While the dial pad is open, I turned the volume rocker on the side of the phone all the way up. All that did was turn up the in call volume, did nothing for the touch-tone volume. I have tried turning up all the volume sliders to see if it had any effect. No, that didn't work. I also tried the hard re-boot (power and volume down buttons), and still no luck.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe last time the display functioned I was starting a play-list for my shower. I adjusted the volume once or twice without lighting the screen, and after drying off stopped the music by removing the speaker jack again without lighting the screen. The device then went into my shirt pocket and I ate dinner then watched a movie but when I tried to do a little surfing before bed the screen wouldn't light up. I had seen it light up the buttons but take a few seconds for the display when the CPU was busy so I waited, nothing happened. I pulled the battery and tried again, nothing on the screen. But then I discovered that the touch sensor was still functioning, I could swipe to unlock and power down in the standard fashion just blind. I have examined the water stickers they are both white with bright red X's.
While writing this question (I am sure many of you already know this fact) I discovered that the display of my device is in fact three distinct functional parts. The capacitive touch screen still in operation on my device, the LCD image generator also still in operation, and the Led illumination source which for lack of a more accurate description is burned out.So my question is how could this occur, is it software or hardware, and what are my recourses?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMotorola Droid Turbo (v. 1) Ballistic - I have a dead spot on the upper left hand corner of the screen, annoyingly right where a menu or "back" navigation button usually is in an app. I have confirmed this one spot is dead to the touch with a screen tester. When I turn my phone off and back on, it reactivates the spot for a time, then eventually it goes dead again. This phone is less than 2 weeks old...I just got my settings just the way I like them.

I cannot click the phone dialer, SMS, camera or app icons. Anything above this first row still works fine. I did a factory reset on the phone and still no luck.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI picked up my phone as I usually do, slid open the keyboard, typed out a text message, and then attempted to press the send button with my finger. For some reason, my touch didn't register and I had to manually select the send button by using the keyboard. I thought it was a glitch, however I am not able to select anything using the touch screen with the keyboard open. For example, if I press the lock button and attempt to unlock my phone with the touchscreen while the keyboard is open, I get no response. Also, if the keyboard is open and I try to open an app or perform any function using the touch screen, I recieve no response. However, the touch screen performs perfectly fine with the keyboard close. The main reason I got the Droid 2 was because of the physical keyboard paired with the touchscreen so I would like to fix this problem as soon as possible.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe following has been happening since before the latest update, and continued after.My phone will randomly reboot itself (there doesn't seem to be any correlation with what I'm doing) and then hang at the rotating red logo.If I push the power button the display will turn off, but after that no buttons have any effects.If I plug the phone in the display comes back on to the unlock screen, but the touch screen is also unresponsive.The phone is definitely still running though, as my bluetooth headset will reconnect and time-based notifications will still happen (I have the phone set to beep every half hour).If I leave the phone sitting for a significant length of time I will notice it getting warm, and it will eventually reboot again and behave normally.Battery pull does nothing.Wiping the cache partition does nothing.I've done a factory reset before, and this makes the problem go away for a while, but it comes back.

So it must be something "stuck" on that portion of the touch screen.How do I fix this.I dont have any new installed apps in the past week. I had very few issues when I got the gingerbread update, and they all smoothed out. When I unlock the phone, the phone wil start vibrating at apparently randm intervals as if one of the 4 key selections on the bottom of the phone has been selected. When I am in an app, or trying to use the settings, etc. these selections block the use of the phone and in effect lock/freeze the phone. I have the following apps downloaded:The google maps (Sprint pre-installed link)The Sprint Football App (Sprint pre-installed link)Solitaire - from the android free apos market.USBank app from a USBank provided link.he problem manifested itself prior to the installation of the USBank App. When I am running the solitaire app, the search key, which is set to turn the next card is selected as is the return/back key. I can watch the cards change in response to the vibration activity. Also, when I am on a screen where the Search key is enabled as a search key, the search screen will randomly come up. While these keys are being selected, the phone essentially freezes. The reception of a call seems to break through this and it proceeds normally.
