I have an ongoing problem with shortcuts becoming frozen or unresponsive. This has happened numerious times and to many different shortcuts. The shortcuts simply do not work. Short press, long press, nothing. I can't delete them either. If I go to the app drawer, the app for the frozen shortcut launches normally.
View 15 RepliesI thought it was just part of the initial boot after upgrading to ICS, but my Bionic becomes almost unresponsive when the application updates commence. Doesn't really seem to matter how big of an update -- I can't pull down the status bar, task switching appears frozen, etc.

I have been using Zumocast, but that's only a one way deal. You can stream and download files from PC onto the Bionic, but not vice versa.Also, I tried to download a 1.4 gig mp4 file but it doesn't fully download, and makes my notification area on my Bionic force close and the whole phone just wigs out and requires a reboot. So Zumocast needs to do some updates in order to support large file transfer.
Anyway, I am looking for a way to transfer files from my phone to my computer(s) wirelessly. I don't always have my USB cable around.
Im having the same issue as a lot of other people (so i read). Mine has progressively gotten worse. My data connection shows active (sometimes it doesnt) but I cannot transfer data. After multiple restarts/battery pulls, i have data connection but NO app will transfer data except the web browser and dolphin. Even Gmail will not sync. So i can surf the web, but cant check my gmail app, pageonce, etc, etc. Wifi/bluetooth work fine. MOST of the time I can still text / make calls but not always.
I am hesitant to do a factory reset as the last time i did this, it did not change the problem and i was stuck with nothing because i had no data connection to connect to my google account with (nor wifi, i was on vacation).
I can get a 4G signal rarely in home. At work and mobile I am usually 4G.I expect to be on 4G for a few years (5G anytime soon?) and was thinking of spending $$$ on a Wilson repeater to pick up 4G with a directional antenna and amplifier for home: url...I am a licensed Amateur Radio operator and the principals involved seemed sound to me.Also, does anyone know how to put the Bionic into Field Test Mode?

Home net is a std Verizon issued router (only thing custom is the net name, channel, and crypto key) and the Bionic is able to get on the wifi no problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGmail is my email. I long ago disabled the "conversation" (threaded) view of messages in Gmail iitself on the web, and in settings on any device. However, I can't find a way to do this on the Bionic. There's no option in accounts > Gmail. I HATE having the emails strung together like they were text messages. One of the major issues is losing attachments (ex: photos) in earlier emails once additional ones have been added to the "thread."
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave experienced this with a couple of applications (Freecaddie Pro and My Tracks) the program is suppose to store to SD card and it saves to internal memory. Spoke to the developer of Freecaddie and he checked and it is suppose to save courses to SD but Bionic saves to Internal Memory. With My Tracks even when I pick "Save to SD card" is saves it to Internal Memory. What is up with that and is there a way to correct it?I know my SD card is working because I have moved pics and music to it without a problem.

I have created shortcuts to them in the same folder as the PDF file and the index.html. I cannot figure out how to drag or copy those shortcuts to the Home screen for quicker access.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of the main reasons I like the physical keyboard is the use of keyboard shortcuts. I noticed that two shortcuts conflict with each other in the stock browser. In a form field of a website, when I press the menu + v combination to paste text, it activates the "save pages" command instead. If you press menu -> more, there is a "save pages" option. Below that text it says "menu + v" which is the same shortcut for paste. However, when in text fields that are part of the browser app (ie. location bar and adding a bookmark) the paste shortcut works. It would be great if the "save pages" shortcut was changed to something else so I could paste text using the keyboard command.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWithout warning, my soft keys stopped working. When I press one, they activate whatever is on the touch screen above them. (For instance, the menu soft key is right below the widget on my home page for contacts. When I press the menu soft key, it activates the contacts widget rather then accessing menus.) I tried a factory reset (I'll spare you the frustrating story of how the backup app I paid for doesn't seem to have worked as promised for me, though thousands of others love it), which included clearing the cache and was done using the external keys not via the reset option in settings. Freshly restarted, prior to adding any of the apps or changing anything, the soft keys still exhibit that behaviour. (Though, come to think of it, I also think the wallpaper stayed, which makes no sense to me. Everything else had to be reconfigured and the reset/cache clearing didn't throw any errors...hmz...)
The Droid 2 keyboard has a back button, which I've been using non-stop since the soft keys went out on me. And a search button, but I never use that. I can get by without a way to simulate having the home key (though I wouldn't mind that). But, as you can imagine, the lack of a functioning Menu key is a serious impediment. I love my Droid 2 enough that, rather than use my "new every 2" to upgrade to a Droid 4, I'm hoping to either fix my issue (which could include fixing the soft keys OR findind a keyboard shortcut for the Menu key) or buy a "new" Droid 2.
So, anyone have either a troubleshooting suggestion other than a reset (tried twice now) and/or know a magical shortcut on the physical keyboard that will do the same thing as the Menu soft key?(Phone is not rooted and has the latest version of Android that Verizon pushed...Looks like 2.3.4)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid X on Verizon. From time to time, the touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive. The "real" buttons work, but the touchscreen does not. I can't even turn it off, so I need to remove the battery to reboot it. This seems to be the only solution.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came home last night and discovered my Droid 2 was completely dead. Removing the battery and putting it back in had no effect. I placed it on the Motorola docking station and tried to boot up - nothing. However, at 2:00 in the morning I noticed the DROID was displaying a bright solid white screen. It would not respond to any action, so I removed the battery again. The battey was warm to the touch. Puting the battery back in this time dis allow meto boot back with the home page looking fine, so I'm guessing the first time the battery was dead. I placed it back in the docking station, shut down the display. When I woke up the next morning the Droid would not respond to the power n button. Once again I removed the battery to force a hard reboot. After putting the battery back in it wouldn't boot, but I noticed the screen was not black, but instead it was a dull lighted blueish gray. I removed the battery again and let the DROID sit for a couple hours. After this I put the battery back in and the DROID did boot up and everything seemed to be working. While in the docking station, charging, and after several hours the DROID was once again a dull lighted blueish gray. It would not respond to any action. I pulled the battery again which was warm to the touch. I let the DROID sit overnight with the battery removed. Today, it has been functioning correctly for at least 8 hours, 4 of those hours in the docxking station displaying time and date as usual.
What am I dealing with (software, hardware, battery)? The battery seems to be OK and charged. I'm using the SystemPannel APP to monitor CPU history and do not see anything unusual for the day. Regretablly, SystemPannel looses it history after one of these lock ups, so I can't see what happened just before the lock up. Can someone suggest another analysis tool that would catch the last moments before the lock up on the SD card? In its current state, I have no faith the phone will be working when I really need it.
When I go to "My Accounts" on my Droid Bionic, and then click on "Add account", I get the error message "Sorry! The application My Accounts (process com.motorola.setup) has stopped unexpectedly."
I wiped out my Bionic and then re-set everything up, and it was working fine until I added my FB account, and then removed the account. Now I can't add any new accounts at all.
This has only happened a couple times, but is really annoying when it does. The phone will be idle, not in use, and I will receive an incoming call. When I go to swipe the unlock/answer screen, the touchscreen is completely unresponsive and I have to let the call go to voice mail. I can't figure out what is causing it, but it periodically happens once or twice a week.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe following has been happening since before the latest update, and continued after.My phone will randomly reboot itself (there doesn't seem to be any correlation with what I'm doing) and then hang at the rotating red logo.If I push the power button the display will turn off, but after that no buttons have any effects.If I plug the phone in the display comes back on to the unlock screen, but the touch screen is also unresponsive.The phone is definitely still running though, as my bluetooth headset will reconnect and time-based notifications will still happen (I have the phone set to beep every half hour).If I leave the phone sitting for a significant length of time I will notice it getting warm, and it will eventually reboot again and behave normally.Battery pull does nothing.Wiping the cache partition does nothing.I've done a factory reset before, and this makes the problem go away for a while, but it comes back.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis has happened to me about three times. I always manually press the power key to turn off the display and lock the phone before placing it in my pocket. Three times now, I have removed the phone from my pocket and found the soft keys lit up but the screen is black. The only key that responds is the power button... nothing else works. Every press of the power button toggles the soft key backlight, but nothing else. The only remedy I have found is to pull the battery.

However, less than half of my Gallery pictures made it over. Because the Gallery is a stock app and not in the marketplace it is not on the the above market transfer desktop application.I also have astro and estrong on my device.

Some times it reboots when I'm not using the phone and other times it reboots after a while of good usage. Also every now and then after a reboot my phone will be frozen on the unlock screen and nothing fixes it except waiting for it to reboot again and start normally.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDroid RAZR - bought in November from Verizon store. Screen protectors and case are used; phone has experienced no trauma. While in Gmail today, the screen pixellated, became unresponsive, and now is inoperable. The screen appears as a mostly uniform field of slowly shifting color (pink, green) with a perhaps .75 inch bar of white on the bottom; see attached picture (it was hard to get a good shot because of the lighting). The phone still "works" internally - if you call it, it rings; the screen sleeps after an appropriate time and you can push the power button to bring it back; I hear the chime of emails and texts coming in. However, none of the menu/home/back buttons work, and touching the screen apparently does nothing. When I push the power button to "wake" the phone, the previously described white bar appears instantly, and the fuzzy colored remainder of the screen "develops" over about ten seconds.
I forced a reboot via the power button/volume trick, and heard the reboot process - but the same screen issue stayed throughout the reboot.I am at about 15% power; perhaps a complete shutdown forced by loss of battery power will eventually help. Plugging it in to a charger did not help.
I go to apps > options > search and boom - "The application Homescreen (processcom.motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." [Force close]I have confirmed other users are experiencing this.

I went to use my bluetooth headset and got nothing (a problem I reported earlier), so I rebooted the phone. That fixed the sound, but I noticed I had no network. I saw a post that said it would come back if I toggled airplane mode. It put the phone in airplane mode just fine, but when I asked it to turn off airplane mode, it immediately rebooted.
