Motorola Droid 2 :: Moving Shortcuts To Home Screen?
May 22, 2011
I have loaded some company PDF and HTML reference files to the SD card, in a folder I call StationGuides. I have created shortcuts to them in the same folder as the PDF file and the index.html. I cannot figure out how to drag or copy those shortcuts to the Home screen for quicker access.
Electrify on U S Cellular. When moving from one home screen to another has just a slight lag or more of jerk then a fluid movement.
All the other menus or navigating around the phone is smooth as silk. I do run a live wallpaper but changing to a static one it seems the same. With all the horsepower this phone is supposed to have I expected those screens to just to fly by smoothly.
Anyone else experience the shortcuts to apps that are on the SD card not reappearing on the home screen(s) after disconnecting from USB? Or does anyone have any solutions? I seem to remember them coming back most of the time (they would just have placeholders) before the Android 2.3. update.
I cant find the setting that locks the icons so that they don't get delete from the screens. I have had the phone for 5 weeks and it seams like very couple of days there are icons that are deleted and I have to re add them to the screens.
Man, the battery on this phone is amazing. So much I love about it. However, I have noticed that there are times when I move from the default screen to the Quick Settings screen on the left, that there is significant lag. Once you move over, sliding back and forth is smoother. But that initial lag seems like a problem; I have a friend with a Droid Razr M that does not have this problem (he is on official Jelly Bean, think this makes a difference?) Does anyone else see this lag?
I am in the messaging application, click to update mailbox and while it is trying to update the email application crashes and closes completely. I am returned to the home screen but now the shortcut I had for my email account inbox is gone, replaced by a shortcut to the music store. I had to manually fix this several times but then I discovered that just leaving it after a while the correct icon would reappear.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? When I try adding any shortcut to the home screen, it shows a "running circle" icon on the home screen. Looks like it's loading, but it's just like that forever. This happens to all available shortcuts and most of the widgets except for Clocks and Map Apps.My phone is updated to the latest Belle.
I had some applications installed from my sd card. once i removed my sd card and reinserted, i couldnot able to find my applications, now i want to delets those shortcuts
I downloaded a theme and now I can't get the shortcuts back on my home screen that I had before. Is there a way to change them back ? How do I go back to the way it was with a picture that I had taken as my wallpaper?
i know how i should delete them, i just hold my finger on shortcut for few seconds and drag it to the recycle bin at the bottom. The problem is, even when i do that, the shortcuts stay where they were..
I have about 5 screens, with the middle one set as a home screen. I've set in google play app to put a shortcut of new apps to home screen, but it actually add them to the very left one. The same is happening when trying to create a shortcut for contact - pin to home screen and I find them all on the very left screen instead.
Double-press of home button takes me correctly to my home screen...
Is there a way to delete, change or deactivate the "web" short cut on the bottom right of the Elm home screen, as activated by the top right hand button i.e. the same button used to "lock" the key pad and to go "back" from most functions. I am constantly starting the web process which is really frustrating & time consuming. Also costs me 50p if don't realize & it goes on from Vodafone homepage. Took phone to shop & their suggestion was to deactivate web by changing internet & WAP settings to 'pay as you go'. This is unhelpful as means can't send picture messages which I regularly do (camera one of reasons for buying Elm!).
Just updated to Belle this morning & having a problem installing widgets/shortcuts to the home-screen. It worked at 1st but now it stalls & the little circle just keeps spinning forever & does not do anything.
My 5530XM is acting up again (v.11 firmware). The symptoms are random disconnects from WLAN and, after doing a soft reset, unable to put shortcuts on the home screen (using the Shortcuts theme). I really think the problem is with the memory card because I can't turn the phone on with the card inside.
Is there a way to scan/repair problems with the memory card? I really, really want to avoid a hard reset. Last time I did that, I lost all my apps from the memory card (I have the Games Edition). I can try using PC Suite or Ovi Suite to back up my memory card apps, but I don't trust the suites that much. What I'd like to do is drag and drop my memory card apps to another location in my PC, but I cannot see the memory card apps in Windows Explorer.
I bought a Nokia 5230 in Jan this year. There was no issue for the first few days... Then suddenly it started restarting . Radomly. First when I enabled bluetooth. Then later on it would restart when I changed a setting like Home Screen Shortcuts or Personalised the General Profile ... etc. I am using a SanDisk MicroSD 4 GB card brand new clean formatted. I have only put in music from NokiaMusic and OVI store apps. It has nothing to do with software installed. There is some really wierd problem.
..So , I went to the Nokia Care store countless times, and they re-installed and updated the phone software and gave it to me.. still the same problem.. SO then they sent it to the Delhi Head Office and I got a replacement 5230 !!! And guess what still the same problem !!! Random restarts. I feel there is some issue with the phone software or firmware or there is some issue with the phone accessing its memory card , I dont know. I have the latest firmware update for this phone V12.0.089
On the blackberry tour I downloaded google maps. It came as an icon labeled g and inside that icon are 3 other google icons including google maps. I want to move it to the home screen separately and do not seem to do so without moving the whole g icon to my home screen. When I go to menu on home screen, it does not give me this option. How do I separate an icon from the group g and move it as a stand alone on the home screen.
I have just got the Nokia X6 16gb and am trying to personalize the Home screen. I have the screen so that the green tool and the red cross appear on the separate panels. The problem I am having is moving the panels around. It says at the bottom of he screen it says to 'drag panels to move' but when I try to do this it just moves the screen around.
Is it possible somehow to move a certain app (icon) on the home screen without changing of the positions of the above icons? Hope it's possible still!Â
Up until about four weeks ago, things were just peachy on the Auto Home and Navigation screens. Now, no matter what the brightness widget is set to, when I have my droid docked on the windshield, I can't see the menu(s). Also, the navigation screen is MUCH darker, but managable. Both these changes took place at the same time.
Never had this problem before but it started in the last few days... I can no longer add apps to my homescreens by selecting "add to homescreen". I can move them around, delete them, add widgets and shortcuts and stuff like that. BUT I can not add an app by selecting the 'add to homescreen' option. I cleared teh cache and am not runnng any boot loaders of the type. Up to date droid x.
On my Droid X, I was able to add pictures along with Widgets and shortcuts to my home screens. I just got the Droid 4 and am unable to figure out how to do this. I Get to the "Add to home" screen, click widgets, and selected My Gallery. But I do not want to add a social media account, I just want to add a couple pictures of my dog and husband.
Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts for the Droid 4?In my Droid 1 browser there are go to homepage, open search dialog, reload page, go back/forward in history, go to top/end of page, show bookmarks, show preferences, create new window, close current window, activate text selection, etc.
After playing a game, or using Gmail app, or using the stock texting s/w, etc. when I go back to the home screen there is this bothersome latency with repopulating the screen with my icons and the "basic icons" (such as phone, texting, apps, etc.) at the bottom. Is there something I can try with the app manager, or some other utility that will tell me what's causing this latency?
Now that I have ICS, I am debating whether to keep my 3rd party home screen replacement or use the stock one. Looking for opinions from this group. Also, are we limited to the 5 home screens stock provides or can we add more? OAN: So far, my battery life is MUCH improved and I got the update yesterday so if it still needs a few days to "settle" in, then I'm going to be one happy D4 owner. It also doesn't get as hot as it used to.
I've been having issues with my phone taking up to 5 seconds for my phone to load my widgets and applications on my home screen when I press the home key. I'm constantly killing apps and it seems that when I "fast reboot" my phone and restart the core processes the phone is back to normal again.
I was messing around with my phone and now I cannot remember how I got my applications homescreen wallpaper different.. I hate it and need to change it but cant figure out where I found it.
