[I wish to phrase this so as not to run afoul of the Forum Rules, so please understand that I have no desire to beat my chest or derail the forum with unsupported topics -- I just want an answer]I previously ran a custom ROM on my Droid 2, but for the sake of security and stability I opted to switch back to official Motorola version of Android, which I did carefully and successfully. In the process, I also accepted the OTA update which took my Droid 2 to system version 4.5.621, aka "621".It runs just fine, but yet I'm thoroughly unhappy. According to all the major hacking sites (Rootzwiki, Droidforums, XDA), version 621 cannot be rooted or reverted to a previous OS (due to some kind of 'signature code group'). I've purchased root-only software that I can apparently never run again, plus now I'm missing simple but addictive features like having a music pause button on my lock screen. Having official software has turned out to NOT be worth the tradeoff in features for me, and Motorola gave no warning that the update was locking me in for good.
How do I dump the entire Motorola OS 4.5.621? I'm 100% willing to forego a warranty (which has probably expired anyway), never bother tech support again (this is my first time), and leave this forum forever to go on my merry way with a generic/hacked Android system.
One the page that allows you to "Add a social network or media account" I have two icons for Facebook. I guess one was there, and then when I downloaded the FB app it created another one. I'm not using the social network feature, but I don't want two FB icons in there. I've uninstalled the FB app and then there is just one icon in there, but when I reinstall FB another icon appears. Is that just the way it has to be? I guess I can live with it if I have to.
I used my bionic today with the hdmi cable to show a powerpoint presentation on the big screen. It was very cool, but after I unplugged the cable, the hdmi cable connected icon stayed on the notification bar and I can't seem to make it go away.
Razr Maxx - I activated the weather widget (?) which now appears in the center of my home page. It doesn't provide "weather' just temp. I can't remove it
Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the text message limit. On my old D1 I know there was an option, but I don't see it on the D3, this is a pretty big deal for me.
Is there not a way to remove the horizontal Google search bar from all, or even some of my screens? All the other widgets and items on our main screens can be long pressed and removed, but this one just opens no matter how I press it.
It is odd because there is an option to add it as it is showing with the other widgets in the widget menu, but no way to remove it. I just find it an annoyance that you can't move it or delete it. I had the same search bar on my S3 and could delete it.
I have a droid Maxx turbo and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the white Google search bar strip at the top of every screen the home screen and any other screen you slide over to because I like to use pictures from my wallpaper and the white bar gets in the way of some of the pictures I put up...
there is a small insert that removes from the dock in case you have a case on the D3. if you remove that and just snip off the far left side (top of M opposite side of headphone jack) it works great. when you clamp it down there is a slight wiggle since its smaller than D3 but not enough to bother anything and nothing if your not touching it.if you have one of these from the D3 and you try and place the M in it you will see immediately the little corner i am talking about when you try to put the M in the dock.
I hate to ask this, but I did not find an answer while searching through the forum. Is there a way to turn off or remove the Status Bar / Notification Bar battery icon. I have found that I like Battery Monitor Widget's icon better, but I do not want two icons in my status bar.
is there anyway to remove some of the bloatware like kindle books, ebooks nfl,and alot of the other stuff i don't use if i could would leave me more room to adds apps. that i can use
My email is set up correctly. The message will sit in the outbox until I remove the battery and reinstall. Once this is done it sends without issue. Running 4.5.605.
I keep getting Backup Assistant popping up when I want to save a contact or other things, and I want it disabled or removed and I've found no way to do that. I don't need to backup anything with Verizon or Motorola... I already do that with Google. How do I disable or remove this stuff so it's not constantly popping up or running in the background or starting up and taking up memory?
Also the Sync Service seems to be constantly there and I'm not sure what it does. It's red arrows circling a black lock and looks like another Motorola or Verizon app that I don't need that will get in the way.
The changes made to the email account mechanism is causing me grief. Who thought it would be a good idea to remove the functionality to assign each email account their own notification ringtone? I use this as a tool to know when an email is from my personal account or from my work account. Now I have to pick the phone every time to find out which it was. That was dumb of Motorola. It need to be returned to it's previous level of functionality. I speaking of the corporate email accounts specifically.
When I set up my DroidX, I set up my e-mail account using my Verizon.net email account. I would like to remove this account, but can't find how to do this under the e-mail app settings, nor does the Verizon account show up under Accounts
It's a pain to constantly slide the unlock and then do my passcode. I know I can press menu, but that's not much of a help.Anybody know how I can get rid of the slide to unlock, but keep my passcode?
Does Motorola intentionally make their new products inferior at release?I've been using a Droid and a Droid 2 for about 18 months.I shoot a lot of pictures outdoors, some macro, lots of nature and concerts.I also shoot indoors under challenging conditions (concert lighting.) They have both prtovided a passable point-and-shoot camera. The Droid 3 camera is dissapointing in that several important features have vanished:
-There is auto white balance, only a manual and difficult-to-use control. -The user can no longer set ISO -The user can no longer set EV -Focus is iffy under a variety of conditions -Photos have a bluish cast under most conditions, with and without flash
So instead of getting pretty good shots with a convenient camera, I'm getting washed-out, bluish garbage.(Issues with the video vs. Droid 2 also, in a separate post.)I want to know if Motorola intends to make the experience of this camera catch up with the spec soon, or if i should return my phone while I can still get something else from Verizon.
I recently shutdown my facebook account. I cannot seem to be able to remove from my Atrix tho. Also, if I try to delete a contact that was imported though facebook, I get a message that says "cannot delete files from read only accounts" Is there any way to get rid of facebook and all of the facebook contacts on my Atrix? Or, do I have to reset my phone to factory?
I've used a SIM card in my Xoom during my vacation, but now I'm back at home I've removed it from the device. The problem is that I keep on getting a SIM error (SIM not present) each time I boot the thing. What's the easiest way to get rid of the error?
I'm looking at the schematica and I can't make out how I get this battery door to open. My phone is non-repsonsive. ican't turn it on and the troubleshooting guise said to remove the battery and put it back in. I can't figure out how to open up this device and get the battery out.
I've noticed that facebook got rolled into the pre-installed apps list. Which I'm only guessing is necessary because My Music and My Photos are so heavily integrated with it... But what about the users who really don't want/use these features?I have all of the sharing features turned off...because I don't have a social networking account synced to my phone. However, I notice that the facebook app is always running, and consumes anywhere from 40 to 80 mb's of ram.
When my Win7 main board went out, I had to re-install all software programs, because of Win7 requirements. Now I have a server that I need to remove from the list, but can not find a way to do that on my Photon or even the Zumocast sign in web
