Motorola Droid 3 :: Remove Functionality To Assign Each Email Account Their Own Notification Ringtone?
Jul 21, 2011
The changes made to the email account mechanism is causing me grief. Who thought it would be a good idea to remove the functionality to assign each email account their own notification ringtone? I use this as a tool to know when an email is from my personal account or from my work account. Now I have to pick the phone every time to find out which it was. That was dumb of Motorola. It need to be returned to it's previous level of functionality. I speaking of the corporate email accounts specifically.
This was possible in Blackberry and I miss it in Droid 4. ... WITHOUT some app... 1. Creating distinct phone RINGTONE for contact GROUP2. Create distinact NOTIFICATION alert sound for receipt of SMS TEXT from contact/group.3. Create distinct EMAIL alert for receipts of any asynchronous MESSAGE (TEXT or EMAIL) from cotact or group
When I set up my DroidX, I set up my e-mail account using my Verizon.net email account. I would like to remove this account, but can't find how to do this under the e-mail app settings, nor does the Verizon account show up under Accounts
Is it possible to assign a unique ring tone to each contact? I understand the process of bringing in ring tones to the SD card, so having enough ring tones is not a problem.
I'm really enjoying my spiffy new Raxr MAXX HD. Coming from the first LTE phone I'm especially enjoying not carrying spare batteries and popping the back off my phone every few hours. I'm in the process of personalizing my phone and I can't figure out how to assign a song as a ringtone.
How do I assing an mp3 to text notification. I have sent 3 mp3's to my phone. If I want to assign one of these to a call (or contact specific call) they show up in my ringtones choices. But if I go to "messaging" "settings" "Select ringtone" only the original phone ringtones are there. NOT one of my mp3's.
This is the only phone that i've had that does not allow the option to link the notification and ringtone volume together. it's really inconvenient to use the volume rocker to adjust the volume of the ringtone, only to have to go deep in to settings to adjust the notitication volume as well.At least on my nexus 7, there's a mini setting when you hit the volume rocker that allows you to adjust the playback and notification volumes from your current screen. i hope that gets added to the JB build of this phone, if we cant link.
In GB we used to be able to link our ring tone and notification volume. Doing that allowed me to use Smart Actions to lower the volume of my phone when at work, or make it go completely silent when at school. After upgrading to ICS I no longer have the ability to link the two volumes (see attached photo). How can I link the two volumes again and continue using Smart Actions. (note I want to try and not use third party apps to do something that was an included feature, ex: using another profile management app to disable notification sounds.)
I have a Droid Turbo, and on both KitKat and Lollipop you have to change volume settings separately. I'm always turning down my volume, just to get a full blast text alert that startles me right out of my seat. On previous phones (including other Motorola droids) all notification volume settings were linked and changed as one. Why is that not a thing anymore? How does that not just make the most sense? I know there are apps out there that could do this, but I don't want to have to download another app to simplify something that should be simple in the first place.
Is there a way for a blind person to assign ringtones to contacts usin the Cliq2. I am blind and working with an accessibility app called mobile accessibility. I can get to contacts through the applications list but can't seem to get it to work from there. I need to know how to select the contact and go from there. I can't find additional info thusly I can't do the rest.
I hate to ask this, but I did not find an answer while searching through the forum. Is there a way to turn off or remove the Status Bar / Notification Bar battery icon. I have found that I like Battery Monitor Widget's icon better, but I do not want two icons in my status bar.
With the standard email client(for POP3 email...not Gmail) on my Droid X2 I can only find a select number of ringtones to use for email notifications. I would like to use a ringtone I have downloaded and am currently using for incoming calls. I've looked through the folders on my phone's SD card, but, to be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
Noted previously that the "Favorites" widget now requires extra steps to manage which contacts are in or out of the widget and where they appear.
This retro less-intuitive-but-more-steps disease seems also to have struck Apps Groups. TPTB that they assign the designer for the folder replacement to manage the whole GUI. Or at least give her/him veto over going backwards.
Don't mean to be snotty, but when my 2012 phone has built-in apps from 1995, I become despondent and irritable.
On DROID 2 I can't seem to figure out how to set a different notification sound for each email account (corporate sync, comcast, etc.). Is it possible to do this without installing a 3rd party app? I swear I had this setup before on the DROID 2 (had to do a factory reset to try to resolve an issue), but can't figure it out. My friend has the same issue on the DROID 3 and can't figure it out. I also already know that Gmail can set up different ones if you filter through that, but that's not what I want.
My email is set up correctly. The message will sit in the outbox until I remove the battery and reinstall. Once this is done it sends without issue. Running 4.5.605.
I just bought the new Droid turbo. I have figured out how to get all of the apps I want to notify me when I have something new however I cannot get email (I'm using Gmail as my email) to notify me when I have a new email what am i doing wrong it's checked off i even checked it under moto it's one of the ones checked off as well what am I doing wrong???....
I have rebooted, contacted Verizon numerous times, been routed to a Level II technician, but nothing seems to solve the only intermittent problem of getting no notification sound when I get an email. The problem started out getting no ringtone sound when I got a call. Verizon finally fixed that by enabling something on advanced calling in their network. That took numerous trips to the Verizon store. Then, two days ago, I went back to Verizon with my wife to look at the iphone6 for her. I casually mentioned the notification problem to the salesperson, who said the problem was probably due to my downloaded sounds, and that I should stick to the sounds on the phone. I promptly went home and removed the downloaded sounds, but the problem persists. Because the problem is intermittent, no one has been able to fix it.
I'm a relatively new X2 and Android user (2 weeks). When I receive emails on my X2 they are accompanied by a certain sound. I'd like to change this sound, but when I go to Settings > Sound > Notification Ringtone, the sound that is checked under this option is the sound that I receive for text messages. Where would I change the ringtone for email?
I've added one account and it was seamless, but can't seem to find an option that will allow me to add my other personal accounts under the one icon....
Well the last week or so I have noticed that my email account is not syncing with my Razr Maxx HD - It is an outlook account - it also does the same thing with my Yahoo account as well I tried looking in settings for sync frequency but there is not option to set - I know on previouse phones there has been option for it but not this one.. Other than deleting the account and re-doing it or restoring the phone, because those two dont work.
I am adding Email definitions for my Gmail accounts (in addition to the Google account definition for Contacts, etc.) because I want them to appear in the Messaging -> Universal Inbox. (I'm not fond of the Gmail app.)
Similarly, I am adding definitions for my Hotmail accounts because I read somewhere that Moto/Verizon will set them up as IMAP which I cannot achieve through a client like K9, else I would probably just be using it for my Universal Inbox.
Via My Accounts -> Add account -> Email Accounts... If I set up a Gmail or Hotmail account by selecting Other and then automatically or manually configuring, then mail is retrieved. However, if I select the appropriate icon for Gmail or Windows Live Hotmail, the only Email which ever appears in the 'Inbox' is from donotreply@vzw.net regarding the success of the operation - this message is not even sent into my actual Gmail/Hotmail Inbox as verified online.. NONE of the other messages from my Inbox ever appear.
So, why do I care how the account is set up? Mostly because the only easy way to distinguish between the message source in the Universal Inbox is the little icon designating the type of Email account. If they are all set up as Other, they all end up with the same icon.
This functionality worked just fine on my Droid 2. So, is it now broken on the Droid 4?
(As an aside, the Hotmail account is set up automatically as POP3. Was I misinformed that Motorola had a license to set up as IMAP through some licensing agreement with Microsoft?)
Recently I've been unable to access emails on my D2G. I receive a notification tone and light but when I go to email it tells me it can't establish a connection. I check the account and my password which should show as ******* now shows as ****************************. Who or what is adding the extra digits to my password. It's a yahoo/sbcglobal account. I've been having similar problems with corporate account at the office.
This botched release of ice cream has taken a lot of time. Support personnel don't know the product. I've been disconnected twice from Motorola personnel. That's an old trick - hang up on the customer in mid-sentence - pretend it's a phone problem - don't call back.
I've figured out most of the goop. The last problem I have is that I do get the green notification light for text messages but it's gone for e-mails. Does anyone know how to get the light back?
Motorola, you did a poor job with this release. Support personnel don't know the product and you are way understaffed to handle all the calls.
