I upgraded my wife's phone finally to the new software release. She has been going along pretty good but just this morning, the internet browser won't open anymore and I get an error:
"The application browser (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"....."force close" button appears.
I also tried this in "safe mode" with the same error. I also tried with "wi-fi" on and "wi-fi" off. No difference.
Just writing this post, when the phone went to sleep and I tried to turn it back on.....it wouldn't do anything (not responding). Once it did turn on to the "locked screen" window, the screen would not unlock or even respond. A few minutes later, it decided to react.....still in safe mode, too.
I cannot get the Browser to open. It keeps trying and then I get the message the browser has stopped.I did shut it off and also pulled the battery. Nothing. My Dolphin Browser does work.
my wife just set up her email by calling Tmobile 611 she does the 2 minute battery pull and starts back up and now she gets a java error and can not open her internet browser. I am at work and since we only have bb for phones she can not call back 611 to help her with her phone. Anyone have any suggestions?
Unable to open any web links from an app or gmail ....started to happen a few minutes ago..these links are embedded in a email or from an app like pulse etc. I have stock broswer and dolphin HD ...and I select which one to displayed when the browser selection pop up window comes up.
Now the selection popup window does not come at all...and the screen goes about 50% dark and when touched anywhere on the screen ...it comes to normal brightness...
While reinstalling MotoCast from fresh download (clean; removed every bit of old installation and rebooted) got this error about MSIE browser detection. The only MSIE version on my machine is 8. No previous installations of MotoCast threw this error.
I am able to connect to my home WiFi but when I press the browser app I get web page not available and list the www.google.com/m?client=ms-android-verizon&source=android-home might be temporarily down response. Also any app requiring network says "unable to connect to network".
I downloaded the new update 2 days ago. Since that time when i try to access the internet, after just several seconds, I get an error message :The application Browser (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. " Then an option to force close.
one widget I've always liked was a battery level indicator, usually a little picture of a battery showing the percent of remaining charge, like 49%, 87% or whatever. I've installed several of these on this phone, and none of them work. They freeze at whatever the battery level is at bootup.Installed Juice Defender. It's in "Balanced" mode, which is supposed to disconnect data flow when the screen is off. I hope it's working. On the JD setup screen, I tried to change to Customize, but the "Confirm" button doesn't respond. It appears to be working normally, though.Sometimes, the "bars" are turned off, until I make a call. Then when I dial, they suddenly light up.When I look at the battery activity, it shows "Browser" as using 19%! That's an awful lot, considering that it's not open. If that's what's really happening, is there some way to turn it off until I need to use it?
I've have my Droid2 for a year, and just got the GB update. I'll keep some browser windows open for a couple of days, just to keep state. With the update, I've noticed that the browser updates the window/tab _every_ time I leave the window. If I'm in a place with great 3G, no problem. But, I'm not always. Is there some setting to keep the browser from having to hit the website _every_ time? (I mean, it even looses the icon in the window listing).
I have several files/message threads that were mistakenly deleted (by my child). Some of them are critical. I switched over messaging to SD a couple of months ago.I was able to restore hundreds of files to my PC, but I am having trouble opening some extensions. I can not open any of the restored .pic, .flc, .tga, or .zip files. The .zip files are not a problem, but how do I view/open the other files. I have been through it all with Remo Tech Supp, as well as QuickTime
While the Droid X2 is a nice phone, I've found another bug.Sometimes when I try to open my camera my phone will just hang at a black screen.I'll hear a click from the camera itself, but the phone stays on a black screen and sometimes I have to do a battery pull. I don't use the SD card that came with the phone, for what its worth.
This only came about since my involuntary OS upgrade last week. When texting or filling out forms on browser, whenever I use the "alt" key (as in alt+A for an '!'), or a (.) key (the period key) or some others... the keyboard freezes and the browser or text messaging is put into a "Force Close" or "Wait" situation. Also, the battery gets really hot - to the touch - when this occurs.
My Droid 2 Global does this, too, so it doesn't seem to be specific to the D3, but if you've scrolled down a bit on a webpage, then you tap a link, the new page that you will navigate to will position itself approximately at the same position rather than starting you at the top.Give it a try on these forums. Go back to the topic list, scroll down a bit (maybe half way), then tap a link. More times than not, you will be placed roughly halfway down the new page, making you scroll up to read the page from the top.
The bookmarks with ICS appear as tiny, hard-to-read icons with tiny, hard-to-read text on my Razr Maxx. I can't find a way to change the bookmarks from icons to pure text so that they are recognizable and usable. Seems like one of many features that is much worse with ICS than it was with GB. Is there a way to have the bookmarks appear as text-only? As an aside, is it only me, or is ICS a disappointment, with little to offer that makes learning a new OS worth the aggravation?
I recall being able to browse this forum from my bionic, although I may be mistaken. In any case neither the standard bionic browser nor Opera Mobile allows me to browse this forum. I am using the lapdock
Is there some app I can use to browse this forum, without resorting to the lapdock?
I can no longer save a website to my bookmarks. I get a message that the browser has stopped. Cleared browser cache and history. Still no good. Its with any website too,not just certain ones.
For the last couple of days my Bionic's browser opens for a half a second in portrait, then switches to landscape and can't be changed out of landscape. No other applications have this issue. My display setting for auto-rotate screen is checked.I've powered off and on and removed and replaced the battery a few times.I've gone into the App Tray>Menu>Manage Apps>All>Browser but I don't find an option to check or uncheck Landscape Only. I cleared the cache while I was there but that doesn't change anything. Since it's only the browser there must be a setting somewhere but I can't figure out how to find it.
Is there anyone else who prefers some sites in full desktop view ie. ESPN? The stock browser User Agent is still accessible through about:debug but most sites are still redirected to a mobile version even when "Desktop" is selected. my favorite browser wont deliver a non-mobile view unless you select the UA as I-Pad. That can't be good. Anyway....all was well on my OG Droid and now I'm about to give up on this dilemma and just install DolphinHD or something.
I upgraded yesterday, and the only issue I seem to have is not being able to dial directly from my browser.
I did a search from Google for Walgreens in my local area. After finding the number, the browser shows the phone number in a "gray" box. When I click the link for the phone number, my dialer pops up, but ther number doesn't carry off.
Starting immediately after the ICS upgrade, I began having problems with the stock browser. Basically, after a few pages of activity, the browser will freeze and completely stop working. The only way to get back to browsing is to go to Manage Apps and Force Close or restart the phone. Some sites seem to cause the problem faster than others but it seems it will eventually happen on any site. I have tried warm reboot which seems to maybe give longer use before freezing again, but that may not actually be correct. I have been trying to avoid a factory reset.
Since the ICS update, I've noticed a glitch while trying to edit search terms in the search box at the top of a Google results page.If I double-tap on a word to select it for editing, an editing menu pops up and covers the search box.In the attached screenshot, you can see that the selected word is bracketed but covered.I'm wondering if this happens on other Bionics running ICS with the stock browser.
One of the main reasons I like the physical keyboard is the use of keyboard shortcuts. I noticed that two shortcuts conflict with each other in the stock browser. In a form field of a website, when I press the menu + v combination to paste text, it activates the "save pages" command instead. If you press menu -> more, there is a "save pages" option. Below that text it says "menu + v" which is the same shortcut for paste. However, when in text fields that are part of the browser app (ie. location bar and adding a bookmark) the paste shortcut works. It would be great if the "save pages" shortcut was changed to something else so I could paste text using the keyboard command.
Recently we both just got on Facebook. I was showing her how you can go into contacts and scroll right and see any status updates. She tried it on hers and it was in the dialer. I opened the drawer and hit the contacts icon and it just opened the dialer under the contact tab. Her phone is stock with Launcher Pro. My phone has Launcher Pro but works fine. I have looked all through her phone and done numerous searches and am unable to find the answer about how to get her back to all contacts. She did do the GB update, but I should still be able to see the contacts outside of the dialer. I can't even create a text group for her.
I downloaded Motocast to my new RAZR. However, all of my document files have a question mark in front of them and I cannot open them on my phone. Is there something more that I need to do in order to open my documents?
I just recently tried to transfer pictures I took with my driod 4 to a PC. I mounted the phone as USB storage. I can see the files, but regardless of if I copy the files to local drive, or open directly I get an error saying that the file is corrupt. Same when trying media sync instead of usb storage.
This actually happens for any type of file. I can open files that were copied from the PC to the phone, but not files that started on the phone. The files open fine on the phone and open if I email the files to myself.
The browser just closes and when I reopen it all browser windows have closed. While this isn't really that big a deal in of itself, I just received the phone two days ago so I am worried that it signifies something bigger!Otherwise this phone is awesome and I don't want to return it if this is just a bug that can be fixed...but if this is the start of a crazy amount of problems like I had with the Motorola Droid X I want to bail early! Before I had the Motorola Droid X I had the Motorola Droid and it was always nice and stable!!It never did this with my Motorola Droid X and it doesn't do it with any other websites I have found. (yet)t also does it occasionally when my daughter plays Smurf Village but that is harder to reproduce; I don't what she does exactly before it kicks out.
