Motorola Defy :: How To Control 3G Connection (internet Access)
Sep 12, 2011
I have Motorola Defy (running android 2.1), i want to prevent it from going online unless there is a Wi-Fi connection (don't use my 3G connection/serves provider internet)
bought my Defy+ in Norway a week ago. Everything except internet connection from mobile service provider works fine. Bluetooth, internet on wifi, sms etc. I have checked all the buttons for data, data roaming, visibilty etc, that is all I could find. Is there som "secret" button somewhere I may have overlooked? The SIM-card works fine on Internet also in a Samsung phone.
I have just done an update on my phone. Now it can't access the Internet and when I connect the USB cable it doesn't recognise the connection however, it does show the phone as recharging. Does anyone know if there is a problem with the upgrade or is unique to my service provider (Telstra) in Australia?
when trying to access the Internet, any application, any type of access point: Error "connection not available". WLAN is connected but no browsing, no disconnects, WLAN disconnects just off the phone.
When I press web to browse the internet, it always comes up as a WAP connection. My mates got an i phone, and can browse the internet as you would on a computer. Can I do this or am I stuck with the WAP?
For some reason i cannot connect to the mobile internet when the connection is showing 3g. It will only connect when it is showing H or H+.
Also for some strange reason, the internet connection wont work at all if i havent used it for a few hours. To get back internet you have to go to flight mode and back or switch off and on to get back online.
i need to start a modem connection via my usbmodem e52. this connection is not for internet but is used only to connect to another modem at 9600 baud and to use as hyperterminal. I have created my connection but unfortunately the phone doesn't start the connection i receive an erro from the pc. How can i do?
Unable to access internet through wifi connection using my xperia x10 with android 2.1. The phone connects to wifi network but unable to browse the internet.
I just got my new Bold9700 and am trying to set it up and failing completely. Part of this may be because I am in Costa Rica. The primary problem is that it is connecting to a WiFi network, but not to a BlackBerry Internet Service. I have a data plan, I am linked to a network here (called I.C.E), and I am connected to a WiFi network, but it will not open due to the lack of Internet Service connection.
My phone is apparently locked, but I am using a USA SIM card, not a Costa Rican one. Do I need to unlock my phone in order to connect to the Internet Server here? As a result of this connection, I also cannot access email or set up BBM.
I have a problem concerning my W715's WiFi. I enable it, find my router, but when I try to access internet my phone says "connection failure. check settings etc." I have went through every little setting, but still - no WiFi internet for me.
I connected my Defy+ to the computer for the first time and a program called Motorola Media Link loaded, but that doesn't allow me to access the contacts, appointments etc. Just photos and music and sync function.
how do I access the contacts on the computer so that I can edit them and transfer from another program?
I've bought my 'Defy, motoblur - MB525' on 'T-mobile - UK. It doesn't seems to be connecting to 3G. I've gone thru different checks on the phone with t-mobile support, even sent my phone for 3 weeks but still the same problem. They'v ask me to sent it back. Mobile network is set on auto, but i m unable to view any videos or download a simple pdf, it takes very long to connect to some sites. There is always a 'G' on top of the screen.
I'm trying to connect my defy to my car's inbuilt hands free bluetooth but it doesn't seem to. I turn bluetooth on and make it discoverable and then scan for device but nothing happens.
I recently flashed my Defy to 2.3.4. Everything is great, but my phone seems to be unable to access 3G speed. Browsing the internet is kinda slow, since it is currently running on edge speed.
When I go to setting>About Phone>System Updates, it replied with "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later". I lasted for a month until now.
unboxed & started the Android 2.1 Defy I got the internet working instantly on GPRS/EDGE using SIM from earlier phone BUT after I downloaded a 3rd party app from Android Market called RTI India the internet just vanished .. I mean .. I don't even see or get the up-down motion arrow mark next to the signal strength on my handset anymore. Phoof ... gone with the wind .. no sign of even showing up a bit despite managing the settings (Wireless & networks + Data Manager) n no. of times. The settings are all good to go for internet connectivity.I then got an advice from Moto India that I needed to uninstall & restart the device in order to get the internet working again but sadly this didn't work. Have requested Vodafone (service provider) to come up with a solution although my gut feeling told me to try out an all-weather antidote from Motorola i.e., "factory hard reset" .. so I called Motorola India again and got exactly this advice.
Has anybody faced this problem .. if so, then has this reset worked to regain internet connectivity OR is there something else altogether ? My phone is still on Android 2.1 since FroYo upgrade is still being tested. Lemme also know if I need to remove the SIM card before doing the factory hard reset? Just wanna be sure before I go ahead with the reset
with a lack of Internet connection on their 4G LTE XOOM. I purchased my XOOM in October and except for one time right after I got it, I've always been connected to a wifi someplace. Last week I found myself at probably one of the few McDonald's that had no wifi. I didn't think that was an issue but it turned out to be. I spoke with the people at Motorola who couldn't diagnosis my problem so I'm supposed to send the unit back to them. In the interim I thought (and spoke to Motorola about this as well) that as a means of troubleshooting I would take it to Verizon to see if perhaps I had a bad sim card. The manager was a complete idiot (I'm being VERY nice here) and told me that sim cards do not go bad! At issue is that when the unit goes back to Motorola it goes back devoid of anything including my sim card. I called Verizon directly and the feeling I got from them was that they really wanted to resolve my problem and probably not send my unit back to Motorola. The tech was very nice but she couldn't get any internet working on my XOOM either. She is sending me a new sim card which should be here tomorrow. Let's hope it's as easy a fix as that. I do have the 3.2.6 upgrade on my unit and except for it sometimes freezing at boot up the past week or so I haven't had any other issues with it.
I have a Motorola Xoom and I have just upgraded to ICS 4.0.4, prior to this I didn't have any problems accessing my wireless router...Netgear WGR614V6....but since the upgrade I've tried everything and I can't get Internet access. I go to settings and click on "Wireless" (You can see that it sees it amongst the list of Routers) and it shows that it is protected by the encryption "PSA-PSK". I put in the password and it goes through the motions but it doesn't connect. It shows that it is looking for an IP address but then it doesn't pass the authentication. I have even tried "WEP" but to no avail. Has anyone had this problem..is there a fix or do I have to go back to "HoneyComb".
My collegue has an HTC phone that has an option to connect to the internet under manage usb connections. My Windows 6.5 phone just connected without pressing buttons. How can I get this option up on my Atrix?I need to connect to the office internet connection via usb.
I just get an unlocked XT720 but I have a problem with the T-mobile network. I have a data plan but I can not access to the internet or receive MMS through this network and it not appear 3G on my signal bars. I think it is due to server configuration. Anyone know how to configure my phone? or where can I found it?
I found out by accident that I could connect my Xoom to my Droid x2 by Bluetooth and get my wifi only Xoom on the I internet. The only problem is that it is not consistent. Drops connections then hard to reconnect. Have to power down to get it reconneced.
