Motorola Atrix 2 :: Processor Not Changing Clock Speed
Oct 14, 2012
After the ICS update the processor is back to its own clock speed i.e 1.2ghz rather than then usual under clocked speed i.e 1ghz. But this had occured with all the other moto atrix 2 users.

anyone who's used the 97 would agree with me on this- the 97 could have been better if it had a little more processing power. out of curiosity, what's Nokia's reason to under-clock the processor? to save on battery and produce less heat? is it technically feasible for nokia to come up with a firmware update that makes the 97's processor run at its native clock speed? can it be overclocked? Whats the native clock speed of the 97's processor? And could it be possible to add /swap (virtual memory) support on the 97 like maemo? It would be great if we could make use of a part of that 32GB as RAM.

Ok, so I had a bold 9000 for a year, but I was sick of the battery life and battery pulls.
Couple weeks ago, I sold it and got me an android. But the problem is 90% of my friends and family own a blackberry, so basically I still need BBM.Now, I'm thinking of buying a new javelin, cause I always loved the form factor so much. I had no idea how'd I ended up with the bold.I know that it won't get the OS 6, but that won't be a problem since I already got an android. So do you guys recommend it?My only concern is the battery life. My brother got an onyx and it has great battery life. How's the battery life compared to the bold 9700?Oh and I also heard the CPU is pretty slow that you can't chat/browse the internet while listening to music? Is that true?

My friend SWIM has a Straight Talk Moto W385 and he wants to change the clock to 24hr time format.SWIM is using PST. After starting PST, SWIM creates a new "feature file" and reads the data from his W385 handset. SWIM changes the clock format setting to 24hr and saves the file. Then SWIM tries to write the data back to his handset, but PST prompts SWIM for a subsidy unlock code.
SWIM has no idea what his subsidy unlock code is, nor does he know how/where to find it.How can SWIM either:
A). Get the magic code to finish this process via PST?
B). Make the 24hr format change using another method?

I have tried a couple of different digital clock widgets and some (but not all and not always!) do not update the time unless you put the phone to sleep and then wake it again. I am running no task killers and do not have an excessive number of programs running at any one time.

I found a weird bug and wanted to report it. If you attemt to add the World Clock widget on the home screen it will cause the LED light to flash green continuously when the display goes to sleep. Deleting the widget off screen doesn't make it go away and to make things worse, when rebooting the Atrix 2 the LED flashing comes back because once you apply this clock it will forever run in the background every time phone boots. You have to do a master reset to make this nightmare go away. Update: It appears that what causes this is when for the very first time you apply this widget it scans for your location and if unsuccessful is how this problem starts. Deleting the widget, clearing data and rebooting doesn't fix it. You have no other choice but to master reset the phone. If you were successful then it will function like it should.

Communications Authorities in Egypt changed Mobile networks numbers for all three providers by adding a number to each provider, for instance mine starts with 010 it will be 0100 and so on for other two providers adding 1 and 2.Now I have more than one thousands (1000) contacts in my phone book, how can I add this new digit to multiple contacts instead of editing one by one.

When I put my Atrix in my HD dock and the dock is powered on, the Atrix automatically brings up the widget clock in landscape. When the dock is powered off, nothing happens (screen stays off). Is there a way to start the widget clock mode manually -- I do not want to leave the Atrix charging all the time. I notice that there is an app to start the car dock view. Is there one to start the landscape clock widget? The Atrix is up to date running 2.3.4.

Changing CPU speed. I noticed that 6P may not overheat but that's only because it throttles. I was wondering if shuting down two of its main cores would enable the other two run faster thus achieving better overall performance.
I was just wondering if apps actually use four cores? Or is it better to have two, faster ones.

By default, the Atrix uses the picture filename of "YYYY-MM-DD_hh-mm-ss_xxx.jpg" (example: "2011-08-01_09-16-12_123.jpg"). How can we change this to another filename mask, like "YYYY_MMDD_hhmmss xxx.jpg" (example: 2011_0801_091612 123.jpg) or any other format of our choosing? In addition, are there any other field masks that we can use beyond the YYY, MM and DD and time fields?

First off, I returned my Torch because of software problems that I couldn't wait to be fixed; namely the BT streaming glitch. That said, I have noticed some commentary regarding the Torch processor speed that I see as seriously ignorant and wanted to provide some insight.Processing power is not a function of clock speed. Processing power is a function of the elegance of the instruction set, the design of the processor's peripheral registers and buses, and the programmer's competence. What does this mean? A very simple processor will have lots and lots of instructions that you can use to build the machine code. Also, a simple processor will have registers to accept instructions and registers to respond linearly to what was input, with no peripheral registers. Think of a box with a chute where something comes in and a chute of identical size where something comes out. In contrast, an elegant processor design will have very few instructions, will have peripheral registers, and require a much more intelligent programmer to utilize.
For this type of processor imagine a box with a chute where something comes in, a chute where something comes out, and chutes all around the sides of the box where specific products automatically come out that can be used to make something without more coming into the "input" chute. FYI, the elegant processor has fewer instructions because it already performs automatically many of the functions that require an instruction and extra clock cycle on simple processors.
A processor works by taking the product that comes out, storing it, waiting for more product to come out, then combining products to come up with usable data. Obviously the faster you pump out products, the faster you make something usable. But what if the elegant processor has products coming out the side chutes automatically, without being told by the programmer, that can be used to keep from having to input and output info over and over to come up with the same end product? Well, it can work more slowly and accomplish more in less time, because the design is sophisticated and the programmer knows how to instruct it. Think of the products coming out of the side chutes on a good processor as products that come out the end on simple processors. The simple processor needs extra instructions, and consequently extra clock cycles of output going to the input over and over, to make specific products come out that the elegant processor simply places on the side chutes without being asked. For this reason, good processors usually have fewer instructions to use.
Let's go back to the year 1997. You had Intel Pentium, AMD Athlon and Duron, and Motorola processors, in general. Intel has always had many instructions, few peripheral registers, and fast clock speeds. Motorola always had a very simple instruction set, peripheral registers, and relatively slow clock speeds. AMD fit in between. What did everyone buy? Well, of course Intel because Intel was faster. But guess what? My AMD at 700 MHz smoked the crap out of an Intel at 1 GHz. Did the Intel fan boys care, or know what they were talking about? Of course not. We all know that old Macs with Motorolas killed PCs with Intel processors of identical speed and did not require ultra high processing speeds such as Intel.
Intels have historically been designed for newbs to utilize. They have (or at least had) an instruction set and overall design that requires an ignorant programmer to use clock cycles for every single calculation. The Motorola was designed for intelligent people to program however. The Motorola will yield usable data(on the side chutes) that can be used, or not used, for every clock cycle that can be combined with output to effectively stack data in one clock cycle that an Intel will need at least 2-3 cycles to produce by going from output to input over and over. Thus, the Intel has to be significantly faster than the competition to do the same work. I suspect that Intel, over the last 10-12 years, has caught up with the overall quality of its processors because the top speed is changing little while their productivity is rising quickly.

I've been using the Xperia z2 for a couple of years now and I'm very happy with it. However, I recently bought a new cover for my phone (with a see-threw screen on top) and figured out that I'm not able to move the clock in my lock screen. This little see-threw screen is more annoying now than useful, because it only shows me half of the clock.
Is there any way to move the clock a little up at the lock screen? I'm using Android 5.1.1 and I no longer have the feature of widgets in my lock screen. So it seems.

Does anyone know of anyway to either remove the date/time shown on the main screen on a TM506 or move it up to the top like on WM, iOS or Android? It's kinda pointless to have a theme that has a flash clock background, while the main clock display is still there. Also, can anyone help me in changing the left and right softkeys? I would like to assign on to the camera or radio and one to either Google Maps or Opera Mobile. I'm using a debranded fw.

I have an MPow dual USB car charger capable of providing 2.1 amps over both USB ports. It is also able to detect if you are using an iPhone or Android and adjust accordingly. It worked great with my G2. It could fast charge my wife's G2 and my G2 at the same time. However, on my Nexus 5 I just got, it is only charging at USB speed.

I'm trying to test on the data speeds of a REV 0 device on Sprint using an older Motorola V3m. And for the life of me i cant get any normal speedtesting sites to work that measure how fast my data is.First I tried using the built in browser(Obigo Browser Q04C1-1.17) with http://mobilespeedtest.com and when running the test it gets stuck at the test running page and never redirects to my results. The second site I tried with the browser is http://text.broadbandreports.com/mspeed in which if I try to run a 1M test I get the message that the maximum download size has been exceeded. None of the smaller test sizes are large enough to produce results.
Is there some kind of a download size limit in this phone? maybe a changeable setting? The last thing I have tried is a J2me based bandwith testing app however that app would give me an error about not being able to download the test file.Does anyone have any ideas on what might work to test my data speeds on a Sprint Motorola Razr v3m? any good java apps i could load onto the phone out there that might work? also pardon my noobishness when it comes to cdma motos.

I used to use EVO 3D, and had touch screen problems. So I just changed the Photon. I got a problem with the 4G (wimax) connection speed. I used the speedtest app to test the speed and my speed kept falling in the 2xx range, while I have 2 or 3 bar signal. This even happened during the mid night. It is even slower than my 3G ev-do rev.A.By the way, how can I reset the radio? I used to be able to do it with ##3282# on the EVO 3D. However, I can't find it on the Photon.
