Lumia 1520 :: Why Doesn't Phone Turn Off
Aug 21, 2015Last week I wrote regarding my Lumia 1520, not turning off. As a summary, power bottom doesn't work, nor does the reset option. It freezes and glitches constantly, and the only way to turn on the display is by pressing the camera and volume down button, can't turn it off either. I was advised to reset the phone to factory settings, which I did, however problems still persist. I'm wondering this might be a hardware issue.

Oct 15, 2014I recently dropped my Nokia Lumia 1520, and the top left of the screen is cracked pretty bad, but usually that doesn't stop a phone from working.. When I dropped it the screen froze for about 5 seconds, then randomly shut off.. This is the only phone I have, and insurance is still $200 to replace, and I wouldn't have that for a couple months. I was wondering if there was a way to somehow power it on?
I believe the battery still works, because sometimes when I try to turn it on, the flash blinks, and it gets hot if I leave it on the charger. It doesn't respond when I plug it into the pc, so I doubt it's the display not working...

IMO the video recording is equal to that of devices that are geared for video recording, but the right configuration would open up the video recording possibilities and with 4K video recording on the horizon which as far as I know, no other smart phone will have the only thing needed is storage space !

Jun 25, 2014I got a Nokia Lumia 1520 last week. Coming from an HTC One (M7), I am still impressed with the smoothness of Windows Phone OS -rarely I get any loading for an app. Moreover Metro has come a long way since the days of ZuneHD.
However I got a slight problem with the date/ time. Both the date and time gets reset back to 20 July 2013, 03:00 after the battery runs out or I try a soft reset.I already tried:
1) Setting the time on manual; it will reset back to manual time and the date/time above.
2) Setting the time on automatic, will still get reset back to manual and the wrong date/time.
3) Instead of setting the phone on 4G, I used the 3G and automatic. Same as above.
4) Setting the date manually and then to automatic, keeps the date/time I setup manually.
5) Turning the device off and on again (not soft reset with the volume key) will keep the date/ time regardless if it was set manually or manually and then automatically.

Dec 5, 2015I recently screwed my phone by placing the phone in window for network coverage during rain. As the rain water spilled over it and few drops got it and brought me some weird issue.
1) Capacitive lights are not working . Only back arrow light didn't work.
2) Mic also not working.
I take it to Nokia care and got it fixed without warranty since it is two year old.And the technician told be that he changed many spare parts and he make use of 1320 spare and got it fixed. And now I feel my phone is getting very hot while charging and warm during normal usage in the top right corner of back side. I don't see heating issue on my other Lumia 1320 and 640 xl

Only charges when plugged in, slow charging notification pops up.
No new hardware "ding" sound.
No new devices in device manager.
No devices with exclamation mark in device manager.
No unknown or unrecognized devices in device manager.
No devices listed in usb-view
Background : I was on Windows 10 build 10581. Upgraded to 10586. All fine.
Phone showed up and everything. However I wanted to go back to 8.1, so I started up the Windows Device Recovery Tool. It asked for a mandatory update. Updated. It recognized my phone (which was on). Started downloading server side software. I ran out of battery (the laptop), and it shut down. After starting up again, the phone is unrecognizable.
I unintsalled Windows Device Recovery Tool and tried to install again. Error. Several times. Finally after cleaning up everything related to it (RevoUninstaller), I managed to install it again. However, my phone still never is recognized. Uninstalled all Nokia/Microsoft drivers (no luck).

Aug 3, 2014I just upgraded to cyan 8.1 two days ago... Did a fresh install. I downgraded to Windows 8 and then install cyan. I DID NOT backup my apps, instead I just installed each app one by one.
Only problem i have is that if my phone is charged past 89% it turns off by itself and i have to hit the power button to power it up. (It only turns off by itself if i leave it alone... but when i'm using it, it works fine.)

Jul 3, 2014My phone was running hot, so I decided to shut it down to cool. Instead of shutting down, though, it rebooted. When it was done, I waited a minute, and tried again. Reboot. Again. Reboot. Finally, decided to try a soft reset and that seemed to fix it. This isn't the first time it decided not to shutdown and restarted instead, but first time it did it three times in a row. At least the soft reset worked. 1520 on 8.1 DP -- hoping the "official" rollout takes care of these little issues.
