Having issues with call quality on the 1020? I picked mine up yesterday. When I call some people they say I am coming in crystal clear, others say I am fading in and out. On my end, I get a weird feedback/static at end of people's words/sentences and it seems to be picking up background noise over the person's words. Very frustrating because there is NOTHING else wrong with this phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just recently got my 1020, I love it, I'm new to Windows Phone, I've been on iPhone since it's inception. When I take a photo on the 1020, and view it straight after, is it showing me the 41mp (or 34mp perhaps) version or the 5mp version? In settings it's set to take both 5mp and 34mp. But it seems as though the quality of the photos is quite low, especially when you zoom in a little! I'm still trying to work out if there's an improvement when I export it to the computer, maybe this is something to do with viewing it on the phone? I used the HD Photo Viewer app, I didn't notice a difference but maybe I will after a take more photos.
View 3 Replies View RelatedUse my wife's Z2 for a while and wanting to buy but fortunately didn't because the phone been having call quality issue as in the other party can't hear clearly, sound muffled or voice breaking up. Send the phone for repair 3 times! Sony service center even change mother board and casing but voice quality is ok sometimes but break up most of the time. My sister's Z2 though she say got not issue but at times voice sound distance too.

Ok, the issues are as follows;The camera so far has delivered nothing but bad photos ! Most of the images are slightly blurry or out of focus, and the colors not quite right.Now I know what this phone can do...yet it doesn't appear to offer much on simple 'auto everything' setting ?
I have only today found out that there is a high res secondary file saved in addition to a standard shot, when viewed through the computer explorer rather than through the phone or email....however, despite this, I have recently taken some shots last weekend which i cannot take again as they were with visiting friends...and lone behold none of them have a secondary high res copy ?!? is there any way to increase the image size and quality of these images with no secondary high res copies or are they doomed ?!
And then upload the highest quality photo to an image hosting site (like imgur)?
I usually just email myself photos, but when I download them on my computer they are like less than 1mb so it looks like I'm getting a low quality image.
Nokia advertises 41mp pictures and I'm still unsure how to get these to my computer. I have the settings to 5mp JPEG + 34mp DNG
So I know with 1020, if I simply share photos on to facebook, it will use the less quality 5MP photos, so I have to download the photos manually on my laptop via usb cord with the phone or from onedrive.. But would I have to download the videos from my phone or onedrive first before uploading on to facebook too, for the highest quality *with the smallest size possible? My videos are easily half a GB!

How can I send the original file (~1-2MB, the 5 megapixel version, not the 35 megapixel version...)
Also, isnt it better to use the windows camera app (smart cam), over the lumia pro cam, if you dont need the 35 megapixel raw pictures and if you are fine with the auto setting (no need for manual adjustments)?

I tested the call blocking feature today and noticed that it forwarded the call to voice mail. Is there any option somewhere to have it drop the call instead? I had this in my Captivate but not on my S3, had to use the Mr. Number app. Would be nice to have because if I go through the trouble of blocking a number, I don't want them leaving a message either. It's mostly telemarketers that I block and the messages they leave are usually dead air...

Today they sent me a new replacement, because they couldn't fix the old one....but now the new one can't send or receive calls. I keep getting the error message "Call Failed due to Fading". Is this a network or a hardware problem? Rogers said it was the network and tech support said it could be the hardward..

When i was on WP8, i had issues with voice recording in whats app, the output on it is noise.
I must have checked a box for having a voice announce who is calling me on my 1020, and really don't want that. Where I would turn that off? I just had the recent software upgrade.

Now when I tell the Blue Ant Voice command the command 'Phone prompt' it connects with my Blackberry Torch 9800 Nuance Voice command option with no problems.Now when I tell the Nuance voice command the numbers of a phone number I want to call, it will repeat it back to me to verifying the number. Now the numbers are clear when the voice command repeats the number I want to call.I swear it really sounds like the very first computer voice ever created, it's all garbled and muddy like. No real clarity in what it is repeating back to me.It is very hard to make out what the voice command is repeating back to me to verify the word I used to describe the number I want it to call.Now, I shut off my Blue Ant Blue Tooth headset and tried the Nuance voice commands with my phone only and I get the same poor quality computer animated voice issues coming out of my Blackberry Torch 9800.Is this normal, I sure hope not, after purchasing what I consider a top quality cell phone. I would expect more clarity with this software from Blackberry and Nuances.This is the one feature that I really need for a cell phone to perform well for me, since I am on the road a lot for my business and needs handsfree dialing.

It happen to my friend Lumia 1020 as well but maybe 2 times and 1 year old as well. I am on 2G 99% of the time, can't figure out what is the problem.

Calls on my phone drop almost certainly when I'm on 2G network. When on 3G this rarely ( or almost never) happens.
Same sim card works very well in other phones. This is issue is just on 2G network. I do not get 3G network every where so i cannot ignore this issue.
Nokia care unit says this phone might have hardware issue and quoting about same amount of repairs of cost of new phone. They claim this needs to be sent to factory for repairs.( this phone is out of warranty in region where I am using it).
I've noticed recently that my call volume has dropped pretty significantly. I now have to press my 1020 hard against my ear to hear people clearly.

Only thing I see is "call waiting" no other option.
When I make an outgoing call and during a call if I receive and incoming call (Call Waiting) Caller id always shows "unknown".
This is not the case when I receive and incoming call and during the call I receive another incoming call (call waiting) the caller id works just fine.
Already tried Hard and Soft Resets.
The notification sound (when an email/sms/calendar pushes) during a call is so annoying and uncomfortable (there will be a weird sound in the earphone and then the normal notification sound, too distracting). Is it possible to disable that weird sound?
