Lumia 1020 :: Way To Increase Image Size And Quality
Jan 27, 2014
i have been very much looking forward to getting this phone for about a year and have been in ownership for about 2 months now. Ok, the issues are as follows; The camera so far has delivered nothing but bad photos ! Most of the images are slightly blurry or out of focus, and the colors not quite right. Now I know what this phone can do...yet it doesn't appear to offer much on simple 'auto everything' setting ?
I have only today found out that there is a high res secondary file saved in addition to a standard shot, when viewed through the computer explorer rather than through the phone or email....however, despite this, I have recently taken some shots last weekend which i cannot take again as they were with visiting friends...and lone behold none of them have a secondary high res copy ?!? is there any way to increase the image size and quality of these images with no secondary high res copies or are they doomed ?!
I've just recently got my 1020, I love it, I'm new to Windows Phone, I've been on iPhone since it's inception. When I take a photo on the 1020, and view it straight after, is it showing me the 41mp (or 34mp perhaps) version or the 5mp version? In settings it's set to take both 5mp and 34mp. But it seems as though the quality of the photos is quite low, especially when you zoom in a little! I'm still trying to work out if there's an improvement when I export it to the computer, maybe this is something to do with viewing it on the phone? I used the HD Photo Viewer app, I didn't notice a difference but maybe I will after a take more photos.
Having issues with call quality on the 1020? I picked mine up yesterday. When I call some people they say I am coming in crystal clear, others say I am fading in and out. On my end, I get a weird feedback/static at end of people's words/sentences and it seems to be picking up background noise over the person's words. Very frustrating because there is NOTHING else wrong with this phone.
I am confused on the file sizes/ reading many many reviews I keep reading about 16:9 photos at 30 plus MB, but for me so far my photos 16:9 are around 13-15 MB size? Maybe I got my Megapixels and MB confused. One photo is 7712 x 4352 =33 Megapixels , The JPG file size is 9.37 MB ....
I am not able to get picture of the person calling me or for that matter when i call someone else.. In the contacts i have their picture. But Caller ID does not show picture during incoming call or when dialing outgoing number. I have Lumia 1020.. Am new to WP.
How to disable the image stabilization? It's a beautiful feature that works extremely well, however I wouldn't mind disabling it for certain pictures, and definitely when recording videos!
And then upload the highest quality photo to an image hosting site (like imgur)?
I usually just email myself photos, but when I download them on my computer they are like less than 1mb so it looks like I'm getting a low quality image.
Nokia advertises 41mp pictures and I'm still unsure how to get these to my computer. I have the settings to 5mp JPEG + 34mp DNG
Is there any way possible to actually make a backup image of my 1020?
The only other smartphone I've had prior to this was an iPhone and one thing Apple did right was making a backup image. If I had to get my phone replaced, I'd just sync it with iTunes and it the new phone immediately had all the settings and screens my old phone had right down to whatever websites I had up last.
I see there are backup options on here but it doesn't seem to actually make an image.
Went to the AT&T store and I was surprised at how light it was. Guess I've been lifting too much with my 920. I was also surprised at the thinness. Anyway, a couple of questions:
1) if I select only 5MP shooting, is there still a delay between shots? 2) what's the pixel length and width of a 5MP image? 3) not really a 5MP question, but how close can you get to your subject (I heard not as close as a 920)?
So I know with 1020, if I simply share photos on to facebook, it will use the less quality 5MP photos, so I have to download the photos manually on my laptop via usb cord with the phone or from onedrive.. But would I have to download the videos from my phone or onedrive first before uploading on to facebook too, for the highest quality *with the smallest size possible? My videos are easily half a GB!
Is there a working way to upload the high quality pictures (41 MP or 34 MP) taken with our Nokia Pro Cam to SkyDrive? Or another way to share them without using a computer?
I recently got myself the nokia lumia 1020 after seeing and hearing about the camera on it. Well, I'm disappointed with the photos after transferring them to my computer and I am wondering if I am only getting the 5 mp shots off of the phone. I have a mac, and so I downloaded the Windows Phone app onto the computer so that I can hook my phone up via USB and take the photos off. When I take them off, they are grainy when you zoom in a couple of times. They also only appear to be, on average, 2mb in size. It seems to me that the full sized photos would take up more space than that, or am I wrong?
Recently i was going through all of my photos - older ones and the new ones. I did notice, that older pictures are bigger in size than those i snapped recently. I'm talking about oversampled ones (5 MP). They used to be ~1.6-2.3 mb size, now they are 600-800 kb. Am i doing something wrong? I'm copying my photos directly from the phone, so there is no compression going on.
I updated my phone to the 8.1 and now my photos on the internet are only showing half the size. I do not have the option to auto fit the photos to the screen and the fonts are to the smallest they can go.
When I take a photo and share it directly from the camera or photo app via email, the file size is always being reduced to ~300kb?
How can I send the original file (~1-2MB, the 5 megapixel version, not the 35 megapixel version...)
Also, isnt it better to use the windows camera app (smart cam), over the lumia pro cam, if you dont need the 35 megapixel raw pictures and if you are fine with the auto setting (no need for manual adjustments)?
- Any other reason for the lumia pro cam app? - How can I switch the camera button to start the smart cam app, not the pro cam app?
For some reason today when i opened up my camera to take a few shots it had problem auto focusing on items close to me, as you know when you tap the screen to focus on a point in the screen you get the circle and a small beep to let you know it's focusing ok, it seemed to have problems getting to this point and there was an audible high pitched buzzing or clicking sound coming from the lens itself and the screen image would not come into focus
the phone has not been dropped or roughly handled so i am 100% sure it's not an issue caused by being knocked, i have tried a reset and a reboot but the issue still remains, also i have done no recent updates and there are none showing so that's not the issue either
I had to admit, the picture quality of pictures from the Photon is very disappointing. Especially indoor pictures, they are dark and incredibly grainy. I never had this problem with my Epic, or my HTC's before that.
I made a folder within the camera roll folder, dropped my pics in all together...dragged the folder on to my desktop and POOF - the folder and all the images (except ONE photo copies 17 times) are GONE!!? what do I do?
since i bought my E63 i have changed the battery up to 3 times, each of them keep increasing in size and eventually deteriorates in battery life..even the present one has stated the same thing.what do i do to stop dis?
I like OS 6 except that all my pictures that i have in Google Picasso and on my phone are now way too small! How do i increase image size? and How do i increase font size on browser?
Very disappointed in the results I've gotten in the first month of using this camera. Even with flash activated in very decent indoor light, the shutter speed seems to default to 1/20 second. Since it's virtually impossible to hold any camera - much less an iPhone - perfectly still at that slow of a speed, the shots are predictably blurry and most are simply unusable. (BTW, none of the shots I'm describing are zoomed and hdr is off.)
