IPhone :: It Gives Alerts Indiscriminately?
Apr 24, 2012
About a week ago my iPhone began to give indiscriminate alerts, CONSTANTLY! What's even more strange, the alert sound is not found on any of the alerts that my iPhone offers. It's a type of chime with three beats. It doesn't chime on the hour or around texts, voice mail, etc. Sometimes it will chime everytime ten plus minutes for three or four times. Then, nothing for three or four hours. Then one chime. I had to turn it off at night because it would start singing in the middle of the night.

I have my work email account in Office 365, I have configured the account in my iPhone 4 running 7.1.1 & it's working fine.
But i have a problem here, i use outlook at Work & i have created folders & folder rules for different people working in my office the folders have been synced to my iPhone but when i receive a mail from a specific person for whom the folder is created i don't get an alert & if the mail comes directly to my inbox everything works fine.Â
I have to manually go to the folder & update it for syncing the emails. I am missing some of the important emails which i shouldn't have missed.

One of my biggest complaints with the iphone is that if I have a voicemail, I only get one alert. If I'm not in the same room with my phone, I wouldn't know i have a message unless I continue to check my phone. It seems you should be able to set your phone to remind you every 5, 10, 15 or however many minutes you'd like.

I have an iPhone 4, and I'm a bit annoyed with the level of control I have over the different alerts.I want to be able to separately control sound and vibrate for each type of alert (ringtone, email, SMS, ect.)Right now, it seems that if I have ringtone volume enabled, enabling alerts for new mail enables both sound and vibrate, and there is no choice to have new mail alerts as vibrate only without silencing the ringtone as well.
I like to hear incoming calls, although I get a lot of mail so it gets annoying hearing the new mail alert every 15 minutes. It would also be nice to change the vibrate patterns and alert tones for all of the different alerts, and to create profiles for quick changing

I've tried everything: In Sounds I turned Vibrate off, turned Email alerts to "None", and still when my volume is up I get this two-tone alert every time I get a new email. Even in the Apple store they didn't know what to do. I use my phone as an alarm clock but it keeps me up all night with this alert.
A possible cause: It's a personal/work phone, and my work installed an Exchange account on it. I also installed a separate Exchange account to sync with Google. So I have two Exchange accounts running (the alert only seems to come for the personal emails).

Is there a way to modify the calendar alerts on my iPhone 4S? Because of the schedule I work, I would like to add some additional options, e.g. 6 hours before, 8 hours before, 4 days before, 1 week before, etc.

I did the most recent update for May23, 2012 and since I updated the phone I no longer am receiving sounds on alerts or incoming texts. Also when i type on the keyboard, there is no sound. My music works no problem and when I test the ring tones, they all come up on the speaker, but my phone now only vibrates when there's a new text. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have checked all my settings, reset the phone and everything and still no sound.

My birthdays from contacts show up on my calendar and in the notification center, but I don't get any alert on my iPhone 4 (iOS 7), although I switched everything on in notification centre options, and also set default alert time for birthdays under calendar options on 'day of event (9:00)'. Other calendar events show up as expected, only birthdays fail. Also, birthday alerts do show up on my Mac, but I need the reminder on my iPhone - just missed two birthdays today!!

My iphone5 alerts are way too soft, and I can't hear them. The ringer is set to max, but I can't figure out how to set the calendar alerts to high. When I do a hard reset it works for a while (less than a day) but then goes way down in volume. I need a good, loud alert for appointments. I've set it to vibrate, but it's not always in a pocket so I can feel it. I think it started after the last iOS update, but it seems more recent than that.

At night, while I'm trying to sleep, I don't want to be disturbed by audio notifications, but I still want calls and the alarm clock to wake me. If I use the "Ring/Silent Switch", it kills the audio notifications nicely, but also kills the tone for calls - and I missed 2 important calls last night. I know I can disable Wi-Fi, but then I won't get any emails and I need to be able to have my emails up-to-date. I often have scheduled work calls in the middle of the night but they can get cancelled so I like to be able to quickly check for cancelled calls before I fully wake up, so I can go back to sleep in possible. Is the only way to go through the Notification Centre and manually turn each time of notifcation off?

How do I silence alerts and alarms while talking on the phone? It's rather bothersome (and sometimes uncomfortable) for an alert or alarm to go off right in the ear while talking on the phone.

iPhone 4, iOS 5, iCloud. I have several email accounts on my iPhone and for some reason, it gives me an alert sound every time I get an email on my me.com account. The others don't alert me - I don't want alerts on any of them.
I turned Mail off in Notifications center and can't seem to find a notification setting for individual accounts. To be clear, I only get a tri-tone alert sound when .me mail comes in. Nothing in notification center. It gets really annoying because I'll get Apple marketing emails at 2-5am, waking me from my peaceful slumber!
