I need to upgrade my late husband's iPhone iOS because some apps are no longer working with the iOS version. The last upgrade was done in 2010, to v4.1. My problem is that I do not want to risk losing anything on this iPhone, for sentimental reasons.I have transferred purchased items through iTunes to keep all the apps. Can someone please walk me through the steps required to make sure I lose no information presently on the iPhone when I upgrade? I want to make sure the text messages, photos (camera roll and albums) and contacts are intact.Calendar is not necessary. I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out but I'm really paranoid about losing anything this time.

I've just bought a new, more powerful PC to replace my existing dated one, and would appreciate if someone could tell me what I need to do to preserve my current iPhone (3GS) apps/messages/settings etc when installing iTunes for the first time on the new system. Also, should I install the 64-bit version of iTunes (yes, it's a 64-bit system) or stick with the 32-bit version?
View 2 Replies View RelatedDuring the weekend I am helping one family member to upgrade the iOS on her iPhone 3G from 3.1 to the latest available, 4.2.1?Before the upgrade, iTunes warns me "Upgrading to iOS 4.2 will delete all of the apps and media......" and suggest me that I should apply this update on teh compuetr where I syn apps, music, videos, and photos from. The problem is, this user has never sync it with a computer. She had been using this phone for over 2 years, she has 5 pages worth of apps, and of course she would have data in some apps. She has no problem letting me make my computer as THE computer that her iPhone syncs to, and I even created a new iTunes profile for her, authorized her Apple ID, and transferred her purchase into iTunes. But when I check "Syn App" on, it tells me that all apps and data on the iPhone will be replaced with the data in the iTunes library. Well, I know what this is about, this is like.. one way overwrite type of sychronization.
But when I looked over everything again, it seems like in the iOS3 era, if you don't sync your apps with a computer on day 1 before you start using the phone, you permanately lose the ability to backup the apps' data and restore to another device? I like to emphasize again that my focus is in data, not apps, I know I could transfer purchases from phone A to iTunes to phone B, it's the inability of backing up data. Do I miss anything here? Is there still a way I could upgrade this phone from iOS 3 to iOS4, without losing her app data?

I love how the iPhone accurately labels where I took my pictures, and I want that same accuracy on a Windows computer. I'm planning on deleting all my photos and videos to make more room for storage, but I don't want to lose my geotags. Is there a program that will accept the geotags that my iPhone have created?

After about a month, my new iPhone 5s has started waking me up at night with an audible tone and vibrating. This seems to happen when the battery reaches 100% charge. Since iOS 7 apparently doesn't have a full battery alarm I stumped about how to disable this. I've thought about using the "Do no disturb" mode but I sometimes use my phone as my alarm and don't want DND to also silence the alarm. Is there some feature I don't know about that I could turn off to stop these nightly disturbances? (It hasn't always done this but just started about a week ago!)

I've been told by Verizon and by Motorola that I need to do a factory reset. (Moto Approach stopped working yesterday and we can't get it to start again.)
Before doing that, is there any way to backup my folder settings (which apps are grouped together in which folders on my home screens)
Recently my LG Env3 has been acting up. The menu used to be almost instantaneous, but now it lags like a... snail. Also I used to text lightly for about 3 days on a single charge, but now my battery only lasts for about 10 hours or so just being on, no calling or texting.I've owned it for about 3 months, so I don't think the battery would go bad this quickly. Is there a way to disable the 3G or EDGE connections that may be draining battery?btw, it is a Verizon phone running on Page Plus

I have pretty bad wi fi reception in my bedroom, however it's just sufficient for my phone to detect it and connect, but it drops out and syncing/downloading/loading web pages is very slow ad often fails.
I have Sprint Galaxy S5 and I am ready to throw it out the window. I have not had a problem with the phone until recently. I can't get it to cut the WiFi off and KEEP IT OFF!! I have tried everything!! I have gone into the advanced settings under WiFi and cut off the "network notification" (receive notification when open networks are in range), I've cut off the "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and changed it to NEVER. I unchecked the box and cut off the "always allow scanning" feature. Also under advanced settings I have cut off the smart network switch.
I have also gone into the "more networks" and cut off my connection optimizer and cut off the partner WiFi option. Even went as far as going into the Network Mode and changed it to LTE/CDMA. All of this is what I have read on the forums. Nothing is working. The WiFi is still cutting on. It wouldn't bother me if I had WiFi to connect to but because I don't it's interfering with my regular mobile data and making it to where I can't use my data. It cuts on about every minute!! Not to mention this is draining my battery! Oh another thing, I downloaded a virus scanning app and my phone is clean.
I have just upgraded my phone to the 9900 bold, I wish I could disable the touch screen or have an auto locking facility? I cant find it. Also the battery life is only about 50% of my 9600 - not what I expected given that Blackberry are reknown for the battery life

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my home network set to "disable SSID Broadcast" which make my network name invisible when a device including my phone scans for wi-fi's; when I enable SSID Broadcast my phone can see the network name and it can connect to it when I input the network password...no problem so far, works perfectly! but when I disable again the SSID Broadcast then the phone gets disconnected. I try to connect to the network with SSID Broadcast disabled (the phone shows a wi-fi location with no name but stored which I assume it's mine) I type the SSID name and password but it won't connect again until the SSID Broadcast is enabled.
For security purposes I like to keep the SSID Broadcast disabled but then I can't connect my phone to the network. I have 2 desktops, 1 laptop, a Xbox and a Wii all connected wirelessly; I don't know why is not working with my phone.
On Froyo Wireless works fine 100% of the time, on Gingerbread it randomly drops internet, locks data/internet until wifi is disabled, loses all awareness of networks around it, etc..I have tried resetting my whole network system, changed all security settings, WPA, WPA2, nothing works. Here are some photos of the phone doing it. Want to add that the router is on the other side of the wall, not 5 feet from me. Works 100% in Froyo, but the pictures show what happens in Gingerbread. Yes Wi-Fi never sleep is on, and even if it wasnt it should auto connect when it becomes active again, which it doesnt. the pictures show, you can see wi-fi is on but for some reason dropped connection and no longer detects any wireless networks at all, when there are easily 5-8 around me at all times. All i did was disable then reenable wifi and it detected all networks and connected again though it will not be long until it happens again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone 4s is my first iPhone, and I really enjoy using it, but I was severely dissapointed when I discovered this major battery-usage flaw. Using wifi drains the battery incredibly fast. If wifi is left on, it will drain the battery (just on standby) within a day. Once I switched off wifi, it lasted over 5 days on standby. Do they know why wifi drains the battery like this, even when just on standby? Can this be corrected? I figured they would have fixed something like this by now if they could; I'm concerned it is a hardware problem that can't be addressed.
