I bought a new iPhone and tried to sync it to my computer to get all my data on the new phone. However, on syncing the phone I was advised that I would have to set this up 'as a new phone' and sync later. My contacts and apps have gone onto the phone, but music, photos, settings and most importamtly text messages have not.

I have clean install SL on my MBP and i have synced before on itunes. Now when i plug the iphone it says 'this iphone have synced with another itunes' and i have to erase my iphone data. i don't want to lost all my music,apps and contacts. this happening when i check 'manually manage your music and videos' on itunes and applying it.

Ive had this problem on my ipod before and just downloaded an app and redownloaded but it didnt work for my iphone. I tried everything. i went to my local store and they didnt know what to do they tried hard and soft shutting it off. they told me to call apple so i did and they told me to restire my iphone on my itunes and tried resetting all my settings and nothing works. My apps that i purchased have still remained un open and im getting very frustrated. I just spent $400 on this phone and its not working! I have no idea what to do! ive spend hours on the phone with the apple people and i get no where!

Well I synced my phone today, haven't synced in a week or so, and now I have no contacts. The contacts on my phone are gone, so I checked my computer and they are gone there as well.
When I synced it did pop up the window that says more than 10% of the contacts will be changed or anything. Is there ANYTHING I can do to get them back?
This is a total failure as far as i'm concerned with Ituned/iPhone. This is unacceptable.

We have an apple family consisting of an iPhone 4, iPad2, and an iphone 3G which we just upgraded to an iPhone 4 today. When we were setting up the new iPhone 4 to connect to iCloud and our apple ID we accidentally merged all the contacts via iCloud from both iPhones into 1 large contact list (the same list on both phones). We keep separate contact lists for our phones, but use iCloud to sync everything else together. I already figured out how to turn off the syncing of the contacts, but is there any way to revert/delete or however you want to word it, the contacts list back to each phone having only their original contacts? When I turned off the contact syncing in the iCloud settings it did ask if I wanted to keep the contacts from icloud or delete them so out of fear of it deleting ALL my contacts I tapped Yes to keep them (probably the wrong choice there). On my wife's new phone it is no big deal, I just manually deleted the 20 or so contacts that were added from my phone, but she has 100+ contacts that are now on my phone that I would rather not delete one by one manually. I also figure I could just do a restore from a backup on my phone through iTunes, but its been a while since I did one and I would end up loosing recent data and contacts so that isn't an option.

When I had it, I used to sync my 700+ phone book entries with Outlook (2010).After getting iPhone, I could import this Outlook backup onto the new phone normally, then I eventually added a few new contacts to my book, naturally. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen syncing my google contacts they suddenly do not appear. If i run diagnostic software it shows me 374 contacts have been found but no problems. At times when i select contacts it shows me the names but when i select the contact there is no information that comes up, it is just white. I go back and the contact names appear. I have tried removing my google account and readding, restarting and nothing seems to work. I can't really pinpoint to when it begun, it was intermittent then today I came home, looked at my phone and had a sync error message. The errors message seemed to indicate it was a result of google services update that must have run...
In additio to this If i go to messages the contact names appears aligned to a message, but if i dial a number manually it doesn't show me the contact name. If i recieve a call it also doesn't show me the name, only the number. I know 200% the contact is stored in google though.
When looking at the google sync options it all looks normal. Last synced is consistent with the rest. Doesn't matter if the contact is drawn from google, facebook, linked in or any other app it does not appear in the contacts list and if it does intermittently accessing the contact contains no information. It doesn't seem to be a google problem but rather a phone problem considering it is happening with all the contacts syned with out discriminating on application.
