I synced my phone after downloading the latest version of itunes and icloud. Now ALL my contacts are gone! How do I get them back?

I cannot find the BB App World icon. I think it disappeared after I downloaded the latest version. I have deleted and re-downloaded. I have looked in every folder. I have downloaded and replaced the existing version. I have re-booted by taking the battery out, etc. The software is in my applications. I have gone through every folder clicking on show all also.

For Windows, it's version 9.03.15.
When I connect the iPhone to the PC the PC makes a sound as though it recognizes something being connected to the PC however even Windows does not show the iPhone as connected.

I updated my iPhone to the latest version (7 point something) but my iTunes no longer recognizes the phone when I connect it via USB. The iPhone permanently shows the connect to iTunes logo but does nothing when I do connect it. I'm using a Windows PC as the platform. When I open Devices in Control Panel, there's a small yellow exclamation mark icon next to the Driver, it says in recovery mode...Â
I cant reboot the phone because the Home button is bust.Â
At this point I'd be happy if I could simply get the phone to work properly again - even if that means I have to use the old iOS.Â

Last night i decided to restore my 3GS to 3.1.3 from 3.1.2 and when i tried to sync my apps back it would not sync them to the phone, it would show the progress bar go really fast but its impossible for something to install that fast since some apps i have are about 100-200 mb. I have the latest version of itunes(9.1.1.12) and i tried using different ports on my laptop, i tried rebooting both my phone and laptop and that did not help either. Any ideas on what to do

I tried to install the latest version of iOS via wifi which I have done many times before with no problem. This time I ended up with the phone stuck in recovery mode. If I connect via cable to iTunes, it tells me that I will need to use recovery and restore. I would very much like to attempt to save photos and contact updates done since the last restore.Â
