After receiving my new iPhone4, the caller ID has not worked via blue-tooth in my car. The readout just shows "incoming call". Sometimes there is just a huge alphanumeric number where the caller name should be.
I have seen a few people mention it on some car forums but was wondering how wide spread it is. I have a Dodge truck with Uconnect and I have seen people with BMW's and Mercedes complaining too.
I just installed a Sony XNV-770BT in dash Nav/Receiver with bluetooth capability in my vehicle. Both my wife and I have the iPhone 4S with AT&T. The caller id name/number will show up on the iphone, but will not pass through to the Sony unit, until after you answer the call. (This of course defeats the whole purpose of caller id!) Before you answer the call it says "Withheld", which is the Sony term for blocked, I guess.
It seems that there are quite a few issues with various iphones not passing the caller id info through to bluetooth devices, but I have not been able to find a solution to my specific problem. I called Sony and they offered to send me a new unit after I remove the one I just installed and return it to them, because they said the caller id feature is supposed to work with the iphone 4s. But this is a lot of trouble to go through only to find out the new unit acts the same way and it is really an iphone issue. The caller id pass through does not work with either mine or my wife's phone - I did the recent iOS 5.1 update and my wife has not. Here are the bluetooth profiles that the Sony unit supports:

We also downloaded our phonebooks into the Sony and and it does not make a difference if the call comes from a phonebook contact or not...

I was able to update my 16GB 3GS to iOS4 without a hitch, that is until I paired it up with my Contour Design SurfaceSound Compact Bluetooth handsfree car kit. Upon syncing the device would confirm pairing to the phone by announcing "handset connected". However, after updating to iOS4 the device would continually announce "handset connected" every minute or so (quite annoying). I've tried unpairing it to my iPhone and then repairing it but the problem continued.
However, I did find a workaround to this problem. I noticed that if I left my iPhone on the Bluetooth screen (within the Settings), the pairing takes place but it doesn't force my car kit from announcing "handset connected" every minute. Aside from not being able to switch to another screen or application, pressing the power button (turn off the display) will bring this "bug" back.
At least the iPod functions still work and I can take incoming phone calls...hopefully Apple fixes this annoyance soon.
Yes, nothing basically happens with it. It jams or gives me error message:
"Error. Unable to set status, out of coverage".
Tried both 3G and Wi-Fi net networks.
Updated fine but won't refresh email. Have to restart the phone to get new emails to load. Restore does not fix it. I don't do fetch, is that the issue? I just manually check as needed.
I have AT&T and my data has not been working since I upgraded to iOS 4 yesterday. MMS, Internet, etc doesn't work. I have called AT&T and they don't know why and can't offer any solution. Anyone else having this problem?
I have tried restoring my phone, resetting the network settings, and AT&T tried unregistering and re-registering my phone but still no data.
I also had this problem since I upgraded my 3GS on Thursday. I did a full restore from a backup, and my internet still wasn't working. Like others, my WiFi was working though. From information I gleaned, it's either corrupt APN settings, or I think in my case (I checked and my APN settings were blank), that updating it just deleted them altogether.
On your phone tap Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network.
If it's all blank like mine, you need to find out your carriers APN settings and input them. Restart the phone, and it should work.
ive just jailbroke my iphone 3gs on ios4 using the snowbreeze 1.6 all is good only my push notifications have stopped working on whatsapp and ping2 ive done the push fix through cydia which fixed my you tube not working and ive followed other guides to try and fix but no joy as of yet anyone else have a fix or idea how to fix.

a) revert to 3.1.2, or

Since i upgraded on iOS4 my outlook exchange account is activated (as it was in the past) and show on my calendar list but no events are showing up in the calendar itself!
My exchange email worked just find with previous OS, not with both my Iphone and Itouch 3rd Gen Exchange email does not show anything other than folders, i have tried deleting account and re adding and restoring new phone or itouch factory settings with no luck.

I have the Motorola RAZR MAXX HD paired with a Motorola H720 Bluetooth headset. Is there a setting that directs the announcement of an incoming call to the Bluetooth device only? I don't want to announce to the world that I have a call coming in via my phone speaker.
If my Bluetooth is turned off, I would expect the audio to be directed to the phone speaker. But if my Bletooth is on and active, shouldn't the announcement go to the Bluetooth?
I've had my iPhone 4s for over a year now. And I have not been able to get Caller id to work!! The messages all work fine, it's just incoming calls. I've tried everything. I'm also with Optus.

Using the BB 8350i with the BB branded buletooth I was able to hear the callers name (as stored in my contacts) or the incoming number on on the BT. I'm now using the Motorola H730 BT and all I hear is Call on Phone One. I know that I can set the phone to read the ID on incoming calls but sometimes the phone is in my jacket pocket and I don't always hear the ID.

And now imessage has stopped working. Orange (his carrier) is now sending us emails about our "multimedia message". Imessage was working when it was set just to his phone number.

I bought two iphones 4s for my children. One chose a 16 GB model and the other a 32 GB one. This is the only difference between the two units. One child reports no problems with receiving calls that display caller-id while the other one (with the 32 GB unit) has been given the run around by Sprint people. The Sprint techs blame it as an Apple problem or even a defective unit. The unit was exchanged for another one, fresh off the box and the problem still persists. Can anybody clarify what is going on with this situation? Is this a carrier problem, manufacturer problem, iOS problem, or what?

I purchased a iphone from malaysia few months back, then I moved to united kingdom. Herhe in UK I can do the setting in the iphone to hide my caller id. settings->Phone->show my caller Id.
When I call local numbers with in UK the reciever of call is not able to see my number "BLOCKED" appears to the caller. however when I call to someone in India then the reciever is able to see my number on the phone.

Thinking that I can downsize from two smartphones into one. Unfortunately, this is not going as well as planned.I am a small business owner and needing the ability to silence the ringer on incoming calls; except for those from certain contacts that I need to be audible after-hours...I've gone into Smart Actions and done the following:Create a new rule "from scratch" named "After Hours"The only trigger is "Timeframe" and specified as the following:

My personal mobile is in the VIP caller list as a way for me to test the audible ringer. A test call from my mobile phone does activate an audible ringer and the phone vibrates.Now, if I receive a call from a business customer while the After Hours rule is activated, of course the phone does not ring nor vibrate. The phone only lights up for the duration of the ring time until the caller is sent to voicemail.After receiving the call from the business customer, I placed a test call from my personal smartphone. I've tried basic troubleshooting: uninstall updates and reinstall updates for the Smart App. Have deleted and recreated the Smart App rules. Restarted the phone. Nothing seems to work...Could someone please give me a clue as to what may be the "smoking gun" for this. A quick search of the web features others that had mentioned the same issue with their handsets but no real resolution to this problem. And, I really would like to be able to use this feature of the new device, otherwise I just purchased a new $300 phone to carry around beside my Droid X.
