Jun 16, 2012I have a 3GS running IOS5 and it will not enter sleep mode, so the screen stays on constantly. It was not dropped or damaged in any way. A restart did not so.

Is there any way for my phone screen to not go to sleep while I am on a call and plugged in? I am on conference calls all day and want to put myself on mute, but when I need to get off mute, you have to do 3 things (home button, swipe, mute) because the phone goes to sleep. You obviously have to do more if it fully locks.Â
If I'm on a call and have the power plugged in, it shouldn't go to sleep unless I hit the sleep button.Â
It doesn't go to sleep when I am on speaker, but I prefer to use my headphones.

I have been having this bro;em yesterday and also today when i woke up. My Verizon iPhone 4S touch screen is un responsive sometimes then it workes other times. My Sleep/WAke button also doesnt work. My phone thinks that my sleep button is always being pushed so if my touch sreen is working i can do anything becuase my phone puts it self to sleep when i unlock it. I was on IOS 5.0.1 and then updated to IOS 5.1.1 thinking that this would help me but i didnt.

It had been working fine until this morning when the iPhone is now stuck in the loop of restarting and stuck in the Apple logo screen.I have tried to hold both the sleep and Home button to reset. But, it just goes back to the same loop.Since the iPhone does not reach the Passcode screen, it is not even recognized by iTunes. So, I cannot restore it, either. How should I proceed?
My iPhone 6 sometimes (very rare) does not wake from sleep when pressing either the sleep button nor home button.

it will not stay asleep (screen off). If I let the screen timeout, or tap the power button, the screen will turn off for about 1/2 a second, and then come right back on. The lock screen will not engage when the screen times out. This developed suddenly overnight, with no app updates or system updates happening (that I'm aware of). Everything else works fine, but battery life is, well, less than good.
The phone is about 6 months old, on Verizon, and runs 5.1.1. It has always been in an otterbox with a screen protector, and is in great condition. No water damage. Never rooted. Not many user-installed apps. The problem persists after factory resets (and before re-installing my apps) and without the case or screen protector. Airplane mode has no effect on the problem.
Could this be a (hardware) defect? I see one other post here with a similar problem, with the solution being to boot into safe mode. However, I can't seem to do that for some reason.
i woke up to yet another issue today, i love my phone, so i am trying to be patient. Today the screen will not go to sleep/time out. i checked the settings, it was still set to one minute, so i changed it to 30 seconds ..didnt help. I did a battery pull.Screen on. I still can manually put it to sleep with the power button, but this is not good. Its sucking my battery life!

Things look pretty cool but cannot work out how to hang up a call when the screen has gone to sleep. It seems I must push the centre button to get the screen illuminated then depress the icon to hang up.
This seems a little odd to have to push two buttons to hang up.... Have I missed an easier way?
Have just updated to Lollipop and all seems good except when when I sleep the phone, if i touch the top left hand corner of the screen the phone awakes, gets a bit annoying as when i hold my phone it keeps switching on, want to disable?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy phone has developed a condition of not waking after the screen went to sleep. I am not sure it started after Lollipop 5.0.1 or not. But it is doing that more frequent with time. When I tried to double tap to wake the phone, only the task bar on top, the home, and back button at the bottom lighted up. If I press the power button, the screen will go black completely. Press the power button again and the task bar and the other two button lighted up again. The way to finally wake up the phone is repeatedly pressing the volume up and down button together. This could require several minutes of pressing the volume button to get the screen to turn on. The phone is not rooted. It works fine when the screen is on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe screen goes to sleep after the specified time (default of 30 seconds, I have not changed that) even when on a call (both normal calling or when on speaker) Problem is, the only way to activate the screen again is to hit the power key, but this also hangs up the call. Is this a feature/bug, and is there a way around this issue? I don't really want to change the time to sleep to a longer time, as this would waste the battery for other use.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my Photon a couple weeks ago. Not too long after setting it up I started having issues with the screen not completely waking up from sleep. I'll press the power button to turn on the display and unlock the phone, but only the blacklight turns on. So the bottom four buttons light up and there is a slight glow the the main screen. All I have to do to fix the issue is turn off the screen then back on and it works. It's not too inconvienent but I get the feeling this isn't a feature I bought the phone for.
Also important to note when the backlight comes on I can still operate the screen, just blindly. I get haptic feedback and can navigate to certain areas.I've tried a uninstalling certain apps, turning off pocket detection, and ultimately a factory reset. Nothing works.
just got the moto x 2014. How to sleep the screen without pressing power button. In that case the power button, which BTW is kind of fragile, will be free. Any virtual button we can set?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently having issues with my Atrix 4G since the start of the New Year (2012). I have had the phone since July with no problems, but not i hear and sense feedback, but it takes over a minute for the phone to reawaken from sleep mode (screen to turn on to the unlock screen).
Once it does, I see the cellular signal strength icon showing it was disconnected and trying to re-acquire the cell netwrok (not the wifi part, the AT&T part).
This long delay puts a real damper on how I can use the phone to make a quick call, or snap a random photo to capture a moment.
Once I'm in, however, it'll work fine for a while, and then if I am NOT using wifi, it may lock up the screen refresh (I get haptic and audio feedback on my taps until the buffer fills, but screen freezes and even turing the unit off does not shut the screen) and sometimes it'll be minutes before I see the cell signal thing do the same thing, or I just get tired of waiting and pull the battery.
if this is a settings thing or a hardware or OS issue. My phone is under warranty, but I don't want to swap it out without knowing if there's a fix. I hate to get a new phone and find out it's happening again.
I have noticed while on a call the screen will go dark, and when I go to end the call it does not light back up so I can see the end button. I find that I have to push the power button to get the screen to wake up so I can see the end button.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this because I'm currently using Velis auto brightness which sets the brightness of the screen. The problem seems to be that 'dim' function before the screen sleeps is actually brightening the screen. I'm guessing system is not checking the current brightness of the screen. It would be great if this could be rectified.

A couple of months ago I was using my iPhone in my room normally. I locked it and put it on my bedside table, when I went back to it I found that my sleep button was very hard to press. I figured it might be temporary and have waited until now. It is now completely unresponsive and I can no longer press it at all. Both of the water damage indicators are white from what I can see and the actual device has very minimal damage from regular use.
