Motorola Atrix 4G :: Screen Lock Up During Re-awakening From Sleep Mode
Jan 8, 2012I am currently having issues with my Atrix 4G since the start of the New Year (2012). I have had the phone since July with no problems, but not i hear and sense feedback, but it takes over a minute for the phone to reawaken from sleep mode (screen to turn on to the unlock screen).
Once it does, I see the cellular signal strength icon showing it was disconnected and trying to re-acquire the cell netwrok (not the wifi part, the AT&T part).
This long delay puts a real damper on how I can use the phone to make a quick call, or snap a random photo to capture a moment.
Once I'm in, however, it'll work fine for a while, and then if I am NOT using wifi, it may lock up the screen refresh (I get haptic and audio feedback on my taps until the buffer fills, but screen freezes and even turing the unit off does not shut the screen) and sometimes it'll be minutes before I see the cell signal thing do the same thing, or I just get tired of waiting and pull the battery.
if this is a settings thing or a hardware or OS issue. My phone is under warranty, but I don't want to swap it out without knowing if there's a fix. I hate to get a new phone and find out it's happening again.

Aug 31, 2011I just bought my phone this weekend. It had been fine, but for no reason this evening it started lighting up to display the time every single minute. Its been going on for hours. I've tried looking in settings etc. to see if I did anything to change this, but can't find a reason for it.I allow the phone to go into sleep mode. And then when the time changes to each next minute it flashes for a second or two then goes back to sleep. How do I stop it from doing this? This is new as of this evening. I use my phone as my alarm clock so it will be very annoying to try to sleep with this thing lighting up every minute.

Haven't done a factory or master reset, and don't want to if not needed. Will accept inbound calls, but can't open anything, and MotoCast can't find the phone, Motophone tools not for this phone OS.

Oct 5, 2011My Atrix shuts down when it goes to sleep, even on a completely full charge. I have done a factory reset (didn't fix it), hard reset, soft reset and pulled the battery and left it out. The only thing that stops it at times is to reload it through the Motorola Software Update on my PC. After that, it works flawlessly for about a day, then after charging it all night, I unplug it and it starts all over again.
Before it shuts down, (if you can catch it) it vibrates. If you hit the power button really quick before it cuts off, you can see on the screen that it has a low battery warning and the battery indicator will be red and showing it as drained, and the phone will cut off. When you turn it back on, the battery is back to where the charge was before it does the sleep/shut off. This cycle continues until I reload the software, then it works for about a day until I have to charge it again.

May 12, 2011Navigation automatically closes when Atrix goes to sleep, which is a pain while driving. The only solution is to wake up the phone, restart the navigation.
I have a HTC Incredible also and do not have the same problem on that device. FYI: I am on the latest system version 4.1.83

Mar 10, 2010I got my Milestone up on Bell's network and configured it all day. Lot's of notifications of email, SMS etc. Now I want to sleep, but need the phone to still ring and SMS to notify me, as I need those for work. Any way I can selectively mute some notifications and not others depending on what time it is? I couldn't find any apps that did this, but there's quite a few.

Mar 24, 2012I've gone through a couple phones now, but I am still having this problem with the Triumph. Periodically, when the phone goes into sleep mode, it will not come out when pressing the power button. I have to take the battery out and replace it to get it to function correctly again. After experimenting with it a bit, it seems to only occur when I have Wifi enabled. When Wifi is off the phone seems to function in and out of sleep mode correctly. Anyone else experience this and/or have a fix for it(beside keeping Wifi disabled)?
I have also experienced some of the same issues that others have addressed on this site (random rebooting, slow GPS), but my Wifi sleep mode problem gives me the biggest headache.
Motorola Droid 4 :: Crashed During Sleep Mode?
Jul 6, 2012My phone had an 80% charge last night and the nightime battery extender mode was on (as it is every night). Five hours later I woke to the flashing green light so I tried to check my messages. The screen would not come on. I knew the phone hadn't powered off because of the green light. I called from my home phone but there was no sound either. I looked online and found how to force a reboot (power on and volume down button at same time). The phone came on and said it still had a 50% charge. It did NOT show my missed calls! I called Verizon and they tried to say it was a fluke thing and not to worry. This has never happened before and the phone is only a month old. I rely on the phone as an alarm so this is especially disturbing, as well as the unknown missed calls.

Jun 13, 2012i have set up the pre formated sleep mode using the time trigger, however, each night it shuts off before the set time. i have the night trigger set from 11pm to 1159pm everyday, the morning trigger set from 12am to 7am everyday and the weekend trigger set from 701am to 9am saturday and sunday. sometime in the wee hours of the morning it shuts itself off in the middle of the morning time frame. ive checked my phone at 3 am and 5 am to find the smart action has shut off. i have to open and close smart actions to get it to come back on. ive deleted the action, cleared cashe and started over, deleted and started from scratch and used the pre formated sleep mode. i cant think of why it stops working.

Then it stoped everything.I also set DLNA to never sleep and i also tried Battery set to "Performace". It simply doesn't work.With Torrent app from the Market also the same problem. I tried several apps. After the display is turned off there are no transfers.I own also Samsung Galaxy Tablet. With this device i don't have any of these problems.The funny thing is that the original DLNA app from Atrix simply don't stream the music after the display turnes off.

May 8, 2012I notice that my motoactv just eats battery when im not using it. My workaround is to power it off so i dont have to constantly have it charging and so its ready when i need it. Dec 18, 2012I did the Jelly Bean update on my two month old Atrix HD yesterday. Then my apps started closing on their own and then the homescreen started doing the same thing. Tried to do a FDR and I have the little android guy on my screen now with what looks like a rotating atom in his belly and a blue progress bar below him. Been like this for several hours now and I even tried calling the Motorola people and I'm still where I was. Can anyone offer a solution before I take it back to where I bought it from to see if they will even replace it? I did the holding down the volume buttons simultaneously and then the power button, got the motorola logo and then goes right back to this annoying little android guy with the rotating atom in his belly.

Today the screen will not go to sleep/time out. i checked the settings, it was still set to one minute, so i changed it to 30 seconds ..didnt help. I did a battery pull.Screen on. Apr 21, 2011I went into Airplane Mode today using the widget. It turned off my Wifi (but not GPS?) and went into Airplane Mode just fine. Then when using the widget to turn Airplane Mode off I see my Wifi turn back on, but the Airplane Mode isn't removed. The only way I can find to actually take the phone out of Airplane mode is to hold the power button and toggle it from the silent/airplane/power popup.

Is this a feature/bug, and is there a way around this issue? I don't really want to change the time to sleep to a longer time, as this would waste the battery for other use.

Jan 31, 2012Just got my Photon a couple weeks ago. Not too long after setting it up I started having issues with the screen not completely waking up from sleep. I'll press the power button to turn on the display and unlock the phone, but only the blacklight turns on. So the bottom four buttons light up and there is a slight glow the the main screen. All I have to do to fix the issue is turn off the screen then back on and it works. It's not too inconvienent but I get the feeling this isn't a feature I bought the phone for.
Also important to note when the backlight comes on I can still operate the screen, just blindly. I get haptic feedback and can navigate to certain areas.I've tried a uninstalling certain apps, turning off pocket detection, and ultimately a factory reset. Nothing works.

The problem seems to be that 'dim' function before the screen sleeps is actually brightening the screen. I'm guessing system is not checking the current brightness of the screen.
