So I've searched online, plenty of information about enabling a passlock, so you can disable the 'SMS preview'. on my iPhone 3G it worked too, but on this new 3GS (OS 3.1.3) I have no option where I should for disabling the SMS preview. I've enabled and disabled a passlock many times, nothing appears. I can't have my text messages freely available on the screen for anyone who pick it up to read.

My work auto-generates my schedule in these formats nightly and since the 5.1 update I can not open them. I updated my phone OTA, I have since reset it restored it and it still does not work. I have also retored from Itunes, it downloaded a 803MB file and restored again, but still no opening. When I click on the document it shows a white screen only, no error.
Did the 5.1 eliminate the 5.01 feature of opening these file types? PDF is opening correctly. What are my options? Can I request a 5.01 downgrade?

I distinctly remember setting a separate ring-tone for one of my favorites. But then, out of the blue, her ring tone switched to the default. I was just trying to edit the contact. But when I select a new ring tone, it no longer previews. I can select one, but not have it play right away.
I tried powering the phone off and back on, but still cannot preview the ring tones. I played around with the "compose ringtones" option that makes a ring tone out of the phone number, but that doesn't work because it does it for each phone number for each favorite. So that I would have to memorize more than 10 similar ring tones. But at least I could press the play button and preview the tones. That tells me it is not the default sound playing app that is the issue.
I have converted from iPhone 4 to the HTC Sensation. The only things I don't like is the message preview, I cannot find anywhere on how to change it so it doesn't display anything as my messages are private and I do not want other people seeing the first part of them. Ive tried a 3rd party app called handscent but didn't like it. Also is it possible to make message tones so the phone vibrates more than once?

So, I needed to restore my iPhone because of this huge glitch that came with one of the recent updates apparently.My phone kept thinking its "other" section was taking up 2.7g of space. So I looked through the forums and the only option I had was to restore.So, I backed up everythng and did so.As soon as the phone turned itself back on I hit the restore from previous backup. Then an error occured. I tried again. More errors saying it couldnt restore. So, I unplugged it and pluged it back in and what does teh phone do? It makes a backup of itself after it had been wiped of its data for restore. Alot of my data is lost now. Thankfully I had most of it saved because I had to manually navigate through the phone and pick it out myself just in case an incident like this occured. Guess what? It did. So really this all started with a problem Apple caused in its faulty product with a solution that failed that I never should have had to resort to in the first place. So, thank you Apple.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI dropped my iPhone 5s and cracked the screen. It was taken to a repair shop at which point I was told the phone was broken internally as well. The phone itself still works, however the screen will not turn on. You can feel and hear it vibrate when it's plugged in and it appears in iTunes when plugged into my computer. I've purchased a new iPhone so now I just need to transfer the old phone's data to the new. However, when I try to back up the old phone, it asks that I unlock the phone. I can't do this without a display though.

I got a notification from the App Store that said there was an update for the Facebook Messenger app, so I tried to install it. When it was finished downloading, instead of installing it gave me an error message and then the app icon disappeared, leaving a blank space where it used to be. I thought I would be able to reinstall it from the App Store, but it tells me that the app is already installed. If I go to App Store > Updates > Purchased, it is on the list and has a button that says "Open" next to it which does nothing. I have tried restarting and resetting my phone, and I did a backup from iTunes, none of which has changed anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs this right? I haven't noticed this before today. There are like 7 lines of preview for my email when you pull the status down. Same for stock app and Gmail so doesn't feel like an in app setting. If more than one email comes in, it will say 5 messages at the bottom and preview the first one. If another app comes in after that, it doesn't show a preview.
Is there a way to shut this off? I don't want the preview in the status pull down... just that I have an unread email.
I recently done the 5.1 update and followed it with a factory reset in order to get a clean install. Everything is running smoothly so far apart from SMS preview. Before my changes, I was able to read an sms, one line at a time as a preview in the notification bar. I must have missed something or been over cautious when faced with fresh settings as I no longer get this.
