Jun 14, 2010Right now we use Blackberry's at work, but when I get the iPhone 4 I would rather just use that to get my work email if I can. I know my Exchange email address (it's just user@exchange.company.com versus my normal @company.com email address) but I have a couple questions:Does Exchange allow IT depts. to lock down Exchange to approved decives/device IDs?We have to change passwords every month or so, but I never have to do anything on my Blackberry to keep getting email pushed - how does Echange handle that? Would I have to just update my password every time it changes?Just looking for experience from those who have added their work email from and Exchange server to their personal iPhone.

Mar 16, 2010So I've searched online, plenty of information about enabling a passlock, so you can disable the 'SMS preview'. on my iPhone 3G it worked too, but on this new 3GS (OS 3.1.3) I have no option where I should for disabling the SMS preview. I've enabled and disabled a passlock many times, nothing appears. I can't have my text messages freely available on the screen for anyone who pick it up to read.

May 15, 2012So, I needed to restore my iPhone because of this huge glitch that came with one of the recent updates apparently.My phone kept thinking its "other" section was taking up 2.7g of space. So I looked through the forums and the only option I had was to restore.So, I backed up everythng and did so.As soon as the phone turned itself back on I hit the restore from previous backup. Then an error occured. I tried again. More errors saying it couldnt restore. So, I unplugged it and pluged it back in and what does teh phone do? It makes a backup of itself after it had been wiped of its data for restore. Alot of my data is lost now. Thankfully I had most of it saved because I had to manually navigate through the phone and pick it out myself just in case an incident like this occured. Guess what? It did. So really this all started with a problem Apple caused in its faulty product with a solution that failed that I never should have had to resort to in the first place. So, thank you Apple.

Aug 20, 2014I dropped my iPhone 5s and cracked the screen. It was taken to a repair shop at which point I was told the phone was broken internally as well. The phone itself still works, however the screen will not turn on. You can feel and hear it vibrate when it's plugged in and it appears in iTunes when plugged into my computer. I've purchased a new iPhone so now I just need to transfer the old phone's data to the new. However, when I try to back up the old phone, it asks that I unlock the phone. I can't do this without a display though.

Aug 27, 2014I got a notification from the App Store that said there was an update for the Facebook Messenger app, so I tried to install it. When it was finished downloading, instead of installing it gave me an error message and then the app icon disappeared, leaving a blank space where it used to be. I thought I would be able to reinstall it from the App Store, but it tells me that the app is already installed. If I go to App Store > Updates > Purchased, it is on the list and has a button that says "Open" next to it which does nothing. I have tried restarting and resetting my phone, and I did a backup from iTunes, none of which has changed anything.

Aug 25, 2010Only my right external speaker is giving out sound. If I cover it up I can't hear anything. Seem the left speaker isn't given out any sound. Could I have a setting wrong? Or is my speaker broken and as a result need a replacement phone?

I asked one of the geniuses if the phones were jailbroken because several of the phones had the cydia app on them. He scoffed and said of course they're not jail broken. Then another genius told me that they were indeed jail broken and proceeded to remove them all from the display.

Mar 31, 2012My 3GS is broken - screen damaged and LED failed. I now have a new phone but is is an Android. The telephone number has been ported to the new phone but when anyone with an iPhone messages me it automatically switches to iMessage and sends it to the bust phone even though it's not functioning. The failure of the 3GS is complete and there is no way of accessing it and making any changes through any of the phone settings. Is there a way of unregistering it from the iMessage server as at the moment none of my friends and colleagues can contact me by message.

( I dont know what genius thought this feature up?).That was bad enough as I was overseas at the time and use the iphone for business. Apr 11, 2010My phone: 3gs, jailbroken on 3.1.2 with bootrom 5.11.07 using pwnagetool 3.1.4. Itunes is at 9.1.Basically I'm stuck in recovery mode and I can't restore my phone. I get error messages in itunes everytime.
It started when I mistakenly updated itunes to 9.1. My phone wasn't being recognized to sync. So I thought why not erase all content on the phone itself? Stupid me didn't research it and didn't know I wasn't supposed to do that.
After the erase, my phone was in a constant cycle of rebooting (with the pineapple logo) and it wasn't being recognized on itunes. So I put it in recovery mode and tried restoring my custom ipsw and it won't. Tried restoring to factory settings in itunes and it won't.
Is the phone bricked? Is there anything I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've researched for a couple of days and nothing seems to work.
