IPhone :: Restore Is Broken Like Everything Else

So, I needed to restore my iPhone because of this huge glitch that came with one of the recent updates apparently.My phone kept thinking its "other" section was taking up 2.7g of space. So I looked through the forums and the only option I had was to restore.So, I backed up everythng and did so.As soon as the phone turned itself back on I hit the restore from previous backup. Then an error occured. I tried again. More errors saying it couldnt restore. So, I unplugged it and pluged it back in and what does teh phone do? It makes a backup of itself after it had been wiped of its data for restore. Alot of my data is lost now. Thankfully I had most of it saved because I had to manually navigate through the phone and pick it out myself just in case an incident like this occured. Guess what? It did. So really this all started with a problem Apple caused in its faulty product with a solution that failed that I never should have had to resort to in the first place. So, thank you Apple.

The lock code on my iphone was entered incorrectly several times and the iphone wiped itself. ( I dont know what genius thought this feature up?).That was bad enough as I was overseas at the time and use the iphone for business. I've just tried to restore using itunes from a backup I took before heading overseas and this completed but failed to restore anything useful. Contacts are gone as are photos , notes etc . Now the old backup appears to be overwrittenm as well. Pretty close to throwing the iphone in the bin and getting a different phone. Anyone know how to restore from a backup taken on a particular date?

home button went out first then power button ive seen and tried the videos on Internet.. some work for about a day then my home button goes back to not working... not sure what to do. my phones warrenty and what not is to no use..

I switched iphones today with a friend of mine. I made sure that I had backed up everything to my computer AND iCloud before doing the trade. Did it, everything set up fine. Restored through iTunes and then turned on. I still had my email, texts, call logs, contacts and notes. But all my apps and songs are gone. How do i get them back?

I'm planning to restore my iPhone while updating to iOS 4 since I've bee using the same old backup for 3 years or so now, installed a bunch of thing etc... so I want to start from scratch.
The only thing I don't want to lose are my SMS.I also don't want to jailbreak my iPhone.
What are the solution to backup only my SMS (so not regular iTunes backup) and then restore that only to my freshly installed iOS4?

I inadvertently backed up my iPod Touch 3G which ended up being a blessing because it actually died due to water damage. When I get my new iP4 I want to restore from that iPod Touch backup because it has many apps I use for studying including the settings which I definitely need. Is there a way to restore just the apps? How would/could I restore at least the one app with data that I really need?

I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.

I have been using my iPhone 4 as an iPod for a while because I'm waiting for AT&T to unlock it. I wanted to restore my phone to backup in my computer, but the restore button only restored my phone to factory settings, and it now tells me to activate the phone but I don't have the original SIM. Is there a way to restore to backup without activating the phone?

So I've searched online, plenty of information about enabling a passlock, so you can disable the 'SMS preview'. on my iPhone 3G it worked too, but on this new 3GS (OS 3.1.3) I have no option where I should for disabling the SMS preview. I've enabled and disabled a passlock many times, nothing appears. I can't have my text messages freely available on the screen for anyone who pick it up to read.

I dropped my iPhone 5s and cracked the screen. It was taken to a repair shop at which point I was told the phone was broken internally as well. The phone itself still works, however the screen will not turn on. You can feel and hear it vibrate when it's plugged in and it appears in iTunes when plugged into my computer. I've purchased a new iPhone so now I just need to transfer the old phone's data to the new. However, when I try to back up the old phone, it asks that I unlock the phone. I can't do this without a display though.

I got a notification from the App Store that said there was an update for the Facebook Messenger app, so I tried to install it. When it was finished downloading, instead of installing it gave me an error message and then the app icon disappeared, leaving a blank space where it used to be. I thought I would be able to reinstall it from the App Store, but it tells me that the app is already installed. If I go to App Store > Updates > Purchased, it is on the list and has a button that says "Open" next to it which does nothing. I have tried restarting and resetting my phone, and I did a backup from iTunes, none of which has changed anything.

Only my right external speaker is giving out sound. If I cover it up I can't hear anything. Seem the left speaker isn't given out any sound. Could I have a setting wrong? Or is my speaker broken and as a result need a replacement phone?

I have a 3gs that's been jailbroken with redsn0w, the current software is 3.0.1 and I want to update to 3.1.3. What steps do i take to update my phone? Do I just plug it into itunes and restore then download the new 3.1.3 and new version of redsnow and jail break like i originally did? Also what's the best way to save all my contacts, photos, music before I restore?

I currently have a jailbroken iphone 3GS with OS version 3.1.2 with AT&T. I have been searching the web with no luck on how to go about updating to 3.1.3 and keeping all my apps. I have made a backup of my phone, and was thinking about clicking update in itunes to 3.1.3 and then running spirit then doing a restore of the backup. Is this the right way i should be doing this?

So I went to the Apple store in Ardmore, Pa to pick up a ip4 and while I was waiting I picked up one of the display ip4s. I immediately noticed an app on the phone called Cydia. I had never seen a jail broken iPhone before but I have heard the name Cydia associated with JBing, but I assumed the cydia app on the display phone was something legit. I asked one of the geniuses if the phones were jailbroken because several of the phones had the cydia app on them. He scoffed and said of course they're not jail broken. Then another genius told me that they were indeed jail broken and proceeded to remove them all from the display.

my iphone 3gs went flat one day so when i got home i tried to charge it. but nothing just a flat phone which came up with a flashing red battery, so connected it to pc and still nothing! so after hours of threads later decided to have a new battery fitted and it works only thing is it still wont charge or connect to i tunes and its dying fast!

after updating my iPhone I canīt tether via USB. The network connection shows up in control panel after connecting but says that the cable is disconnected.
Donīt know if Bluetooth or WLAN tethering would work, since I never used them before.

My 3GS is broken - screen damaged and LED failed. I now have a new phone but is is an Android. The telephone number has been ported to the new phone but when anyone with an iPhone messages me it automatically switches to iMessage and sends it to the bust phone even though it's not functioning. The failure of the 3GS is complete and there is no way of accessing it and making any changes through any of the phone settings. Is there a way of unregistering it from the iMessage server as at the moment none of my friends and colleagues can contact me by message.
