IPhone :: Can't Get It To Turn On, I Tried To Restore It And It Told Me They Couldn't Restore It
Jun 29, 2012
I cant get my iphone to turn on, I tried to restore it and it told me they couldn't restore it, is it junk or is there something that can get it to work?
As soon as I restore iphone 4 firmware in itune, the power turn off and doesn't turn on again thought I press the power .It seems dead.Hardware damage?
I switched iphones today with a friend of mine. I made sure that I had backed up everything to my computer AND iCloud before doing the trade. Did it, everything set up fine. Restored through iTunes and then turned on. I still had my email, texts, call logs, contacts and notes. But all my apps and songs are gone. How do i get them back?
I'm planning to restore my iPhone while updating to iOS 4 since I've bee using the same old backup for 3 years or so now, installed a bunch of thing etc... so I want to start from scratch.
The only thing I don't want to lose are my SMS.I also don't want to jailbreak my iPhone. What are the solution to backup only my SMS (so not regular iTunes backup) and then restore that only to my freshly installed iOS4?
I inadvertently backed up my iPod Touch 3G which ended up being a blessing because it actually died due to water damage. When I get my new iP4 I want to restore from that iPod Touch backup because it has many apps I use for studying including the settings which I definitely need. Is there a way to restore just the apps? How would/could I restore at least the one app with data that I really need?
I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.
if I restore factory setting to my iPhone, is it still possible to restore the backup from itune/ icloud to get the purchased apps and other informations?
I have been using my iPhone 4 as an iPod for a while because I'm waiting for AT&T to unlock it. I wanted to restore my phone to backup in my computer, but the restore button only restored my phone to factory settings, and it now tells me to activate the phone but I don't have the original SIM. Is there a way to restore to backup without activating the phone?
My iPhone 5s will not respond. i was in the middle of doing a system settings restore when it became stuck on the load screen. now when i manually shut it down it wants to turn back on and still be stuck on the load screen and the bar will not fill up at all... if i call apple will they fix this over the phone or will they tell me to get lost since i purchased the phone second hand a few months back?... I love the phone i just want to forget this whole restore thing didn't happen
I had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]
stats: jailbroken iphone 3G at 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 (cant remember).my iBroken went into a vicious reboot cycle recently, constantly showing the white apple logo, until the battery was drained completely. I finally got it into restore mode (display: cable& itunes) connected it to itunes and tried to restore it. The process froze somewhere 3/4 to finish. Then ya know I googled around, downloaded pwnage tool, created a custom ipsw out of the iphone 3.0 ios 4 ipsw, selected it in itunes and tried to restore with that. Again it froze and the bar stopped just before completion.Does anyone know how to treat this one? update: I have also tried reinstalling itunes, etc, etc. Update-2: sorry typo. I meant that i have an iphone 3G not iphone 4 Update-3: FIXED. Booted Windows xp via bootcamp, installed itunes, restored using custom ipsw.
My iphone is not restoring to factory settings - I got a message when connected today saying it was in recovery mode and that i needed to restore to factory settings. I have done this before for a different reason and so thought nothing of it but it goes through the process with the apple logo showing on the phone, the extracting of files happens and then it installs and then verifys it restores firmware and then I get "an unknown error has occured" It then shows the Blue music noted iTunes symbol with a lead pointing to it to indicate that I need to plug in and go to itunes. It will not switch on.
Today my JB'd 3G on 3.1.2 went into a funky state and I attempted to reboot. Since then I've been stuck on the Apple logo at start up and nothing.
So, i put the phone in DFU mode and Itunes 9 is giving me the option to "Update & Restore", HOWEVER, I dont want to do this because I want to stay on 3.1.2 for obvious reasons. I also have been reading stuff about SHSH but I have no clue what this is so one can assume I never did anything prior regarding SHSH.
When itunes has the pop up on the screen saying "update and restore" can I hold "shift and click "update&restore" to choose a 312 ipsw, or is that option only available if restoring without being in DFU mode.
The past few months I've gotten warnings from AT&T that I was near or exceeding my data plan limits when I never did before. After a lot of testing it seems that on my iPhone, iTunes Match still downloads data—megabytes worth—even if I have the "download over 3g" setting turned off. I've had to turn off iTunes Match on my iPhone totally and rely on "old-fashioned" syncing unless I want to upgrade to the bigger data plans, which I'm not going to do. Sigh! Anyone else notice this? The behavior persists over several erase-and-restores of the phone.
i was charging it on my laptop and all of a sudden couldn't turn on, i dont know if the charge finished...i tried a bunch of basic stuff, lock button power off power on, or whatever but nothing works...im also not getting a red blinking light that certain people got after searching on Google?
I bought this phone today and i got home to sync up my contacts from my old iphone that was @ 3.1.2 and somehow in the middle it crashed. From there I attempted to tether jailbreak the iphone no go. I then attempted to use Blackrain to "make it rain" no luck then i tried to use redsnow tethered jailbreak and it worked. But then everything in my settings were corrupted. Now for the past few hours ive been trying to restore with itunes to 3.1.2 but it wont have it.It keeps telling me that its not supported. Ive modified host files to point the authentication server elsewhere, and nothing.
At this point im considering upgrading to 3.1.3 and just waiting it out until the dev team decides to take on the 3gs cause i need a working phone. But i would definately prefer 3.1.2. Is there any other way to do this?
It seems to me that apple has stopped signing for 3.0-3.1.2 firmware restores. now im stuck on the itunes logo which the phone was on 3.0 unlocked/jailbroken. Is there ANY way to restore back to 3.0 from 3.0?
Can I restore to 4.0.1 from 3.1.3 using iTunes 9.2.1? I read people on modmyi saying they had to install 9.1 first to do the restore and then go back to 9.2 to activate the phone. They said 9.2 would hang and leave the phone bricked if 9.2 were used (use TU to kick out of recovery?). I'm not sure if 9.2 vs 9.2.1 makes a difference. But then I've heard other people say 9.2.1 works fine.
I have to give my iphone 4 back to my company but i still have my iphone 3. I've tried sync, and backing up and restoring but can't seem to get the 4 infor onto my faithful old 3.
After attempting to update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, it gets through EVERYTHING until the loading bar on the iPhone maxes out. Just as it finishes, iTunes comes up with an error saying "Cannot restore iPhone for unknown reason (-1)"
tonight I tried to upgrade my Iphone 3Gs OS to IOS 5.1 via my iphone 3Gs because it has issues on battery life, but after 1 minute in the middle of upgrading process, my iPhone shutdown itself.
And the next thing happen is the iphone start to reboot but only appear apple logo and then off, and then appear apple logo and then off again and so on..When I plugged it on itunes, itunes did not detect it.How can I turn my iPhone 3Gs on again?
Had to wipe my phone had something corrupt and set up as new phone so I would put back on whatever was wrong. But I need to get the text messages back...how do I pull just certain things from the back up to put back on my phone?
