IPhone :: Phone Gets Stuck / How To Get It Working Again Without Restoring?
Jul 26, 2010
If you're anything like me, you dread the idea of your phone getting stuck, having to reset, restore, re-jailbreak, etc. But I wanted to ask, when the phone gets stuck, are there ANY other options besides having to restore everything or is that the only way to get it working again?
Recently I jailbreak using pwnage then blackra1n/blacksn0w to unlock my iphone 3gs (3.1.2 - 05.11.07). So I decide to get one for my girlfriend same spec (3.1.2 - 05.11.07) and when I did the same process, itune gives the 1600 error during custom firmware restore. I later discovered it had a newer bootrom on this one and Untethered jailbreak (pwnage) wasn’t supported.
The iphone is currently stuck in DFU mode and unable to enter recovery mode and gives the 1600 error upon restore, I tried using new cable and switched from Mac to PC for the restore but none worked. With iREB not supporting 3gs. I am out of ideas anyone can help to restore the iphone?
I should have just used blackra1n (tethered) jailbreak and unlock it .I guess I can normal restore it to 3.1.3 and have a itouch instead if worst come to worst. In addition I have a question about blackra1n (tethered) jailbreak/unlock, I was under the assumption if I powered off I will loss the unlock, but that’s not the case on another iphone?
I was syncing photos today and my computer crashed. I didn't lose any photos, however it has left my iPhone 4 with a message "Restoring 84 of 90" on the main photo album screen. (See attached image below.) I have done everything short of doing a restore on the phone to try to get rid of it (resyncing, etc) Is that my only option, if that will even work? Or is there something else I can try?
I have been trying to restore my iPhone for about 12 hours now, and I'm about to pull my hair out if it doesn't work soon. The restore to factory settings goes fine, and then when I begin to set it up, it first gives me trouble activating it, but I just press continue when it says it hasn't been activated and a few minutes later I have signal. The next problem arises when I try and restore it from a iCloud backup. I have tried 3 different back ups, all 3 have given me the same problem. They say there is anywhere from 15-45 hours remaining, and it gets stuck at about a centimeter along the progress bar of the restoring settings part. I have not been able to get past this. Quite a few times it has said that my internet connection failed and I'll need to restart the restore. I know this most likely isn't true because I'll be on the computer at that exact point and not have an issue with the computer. I also have a very stable internet connection, and very fast. When I have done restores in the past it took about five minutes.
I had deleted my Apple ID and created one same Apple ID again. After i restored my iphone to factory setting, it stuck at the activation screen, even if i filled in the correct Apple ID and password, it shows "cannot use this Apple ID to unock this phone'.
I am experiencing some trouble with my iMessage. Just a couple of days ago, I was able to receive and send messages through the iMessage. Until yesterday, a friend of mine sent me messages and I wasn't able to receive them. I also tried sending some of mine too, but it wouldn't. So I did all the necessarry actions needed.
1. Toggle on and off the iMessage from the settings. Didn't work.
2. Reset Network settings. Didn't work.
3. Turned the iPhone on and off. Didn't work.
4. Restored the iPhone, still didn't work.
What could possibly be the reason behind this? And what else could I do?
My Iphone needed to be restore according to itunes. But it was not able to restore due to error 28. I took my phone to a seller who opened my phone but he was not able to fix it. After that I find out that my warranty was lost and apple can not replace my phone although it is in the 1 year warranty. How can I fix it in order to be able to use my phone now since apple will refuse to fix it because it was opened by someone else.
Currently flashing back to stock with the steps given by Heisenberg's step by step guide, number 11, how to flash the factory image.
At the command fastboot flash system C:anglerimagessystem.img and it has sat here for over an hour and a half now with the output of writing 'system'. If I'm not mistaken, my phone is basically bricked at this point, as all I have written to the phone right now is recovery and bootloader really, and since I flashed the stock bootloader that means it is relocked.
Is there any way I can unlock it from here and then flash TWRP again, and then restore one of my backups of my 6P to at least get it working again?
Service tech suggested restoring iPhone 5 as a "New" phone so as to not recover any corrupt data from my backup. If I do this how do add back my Contacts, Notes, etc?
My iPhone 5S iOS (7.1.1) fell down "less than one meter height", then after that it shows that there is no service I used my sim card with 2 another iphones (5 &5S) the service worked fine with both iphones.
I tried iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service except "restoring the iPhone", but I'm still experiencing "No Service" issue.my iPhone worked fine for 7 months before falling down. There's no other issues with my iphone everything else is working normally, the screen is not broken & there is only one tiny scratch on the edge of the iPhone. I left my iPhone at a house last night and when I got it back it was disabled. Now my password won't work to unlock my phone. Is there a way to enable a disabled phone without restoring? And if I did restore it, would I lose everything? (contacts, pictures, apps etc.)
So, I just bought a JB'en iphone 3g tonight.Went ahead and unlocked it using ultrasn0w.Connected it to my mac/itunes, and it asks "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer. setup as a new iphone -or- restore the backup of ***"So, since I had purchased apps using my *** phone (actually was an ipod touch that i got rid of), I'm thinking that I should restore the backup so that I can get my paid apps back for free.
Questions: -will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...? -otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?
A friend of mine has a factory unlocked 3GS with 3.1.3 firmware and, I'm assuming, the latest baseband. Reading this iClarified tutorial would suggest that it is possible to jailbreak his phone with a Mac but he doesn't have one. So my question is, if I make a custom ISPW for him using my Mac, can he then restore his phone using Windows and this custom firmware. And if so, does he need to use DFU mode or can he simply click on the custom file and restore? I should add that it isn't feasible for me to do the job for him as he lives many miles away and I'll be sending him the custom firmware on a CD by mail.
I'm upgrading from a Curve 8520 to a Curve 9320, so I backed up all my files and then restored it all onto my new phone. Everything works fine, signal, network, texts, calling, internet etc, but when I go onto the BBM app it asks me to type in my BB ID, which I do and then once it gets to restoring BBM it doesn't do anything even after being left for an hour.I've tried to follow methods of restoring online and on the forums but none work since the only option I have is to enter my ID and then there's only close options after that
BB 9900 stolen and now have a Curve 9300. I really need some assistance restoring everything to the 9300 but when i plug into the Desktop software it asks me to plug in my old device?I obviously don't have it but I do have a back up i did just before Christmas. I don't mind starting from scratch but I need the phone numbers etc if nothing else.
To improve the security on my phone, I engaged the password feature. In trying to get back in my phone I must have entered the password incorrectly. When the maximum attempts had been used, the phone went through wiping and my phone was totally reset. My BBM listing and contact listing were all lost and even my BBM pin was changed. My phone was previously backed up on my computer but the computer is identifying my phone as a different divice. is there any way to get my computer to load my contact lists on the phone after it had been wiped in this way?
I'm using a Blackberry Curve 9300, it seems to freeze a lot lately, sometimes for hours at a time. Like this morning it froze from 12midnight until 5:30am. When it freezes I get a black squared clock at the centre of my screen. I then decided to whip out everything on my phone thinking if I did that everything will be back to normal. After whipping out all my stuff now not only do I still experience the same problem of freezing, I now lost all my BB Messenger contacts that I can't restore. I now don't know what to do. how do I stop my phone from freezing all the the time and how do I restore all my contacts!
I have bought a new 5800 XM recently instead of my old 7610. I tried hard I think but unable to find a way to transfer my text messages from my 7610 to 5800 XM. How come I can manage this or is not there a way to achieve this issue.
* I own the final version of Nokia PC Suite and Ovi Suite by today. they even cannot install the Nokia PC Suite Support software into my old 7610. **When I tried to back up my messages from 7610 PC Suite warns me that these messages cannot be restored to another model.
So ive just brought an iphone 3gs and when i charge it, the cable is hard to plug into my phone. Once it has been forced in, and its fully charged when i pull it out it snaps and hald of it is still stuck in my phone. I know its the right sort of cable. Ive asked someone else and they said you need to pinch and push it in and out but there is no where to do that.
So my problem started yesterday when my phone got wet, not fell on water but water fell on it. I opened it up and dried it up, but when i connected it it wouldnt turn back on. So this morning i tried turning it on and it did.So my problem is that the phone is stuck in recovery mode, before that it just got stuck in the apple logo till i tried restoring it.
Itunes gives me error 6 and sometimes 13.i dont care what i have to do i just want my phone to work, i have att so i dont care about the baseband.
i have a 3g with 30 software and when i updated cyleda it rebooted and got stuck at the apple logo. when plug it in to itunes dose not pick it up. what do i do?
My iPhone 4S is stuck on the log in screen. Out of nowhere has come the voice over telling me every button i push (and announcing every text or notification I get) but when I enter the passnumber it goes no further, I have powered it down several times and reset it a couple of times to no avail, . It receives calls which I can answer, and texts and notifications -- its just I cannot enter it all.
My iPhone4 needs to be restored but each time I give iTunes the okay to start the restore it'll extract software or w/e and then go to "waiting on iPhone" then it'll do that for hours on end until I finally unplug it, I've tried several times to redo it but it doesn't work. I don't actually use it as a phone I just hook it to wifi and use it that way and keep all my music on it because I have a phone and I received this for free but can't afford the phone service.
