If you're anything like me, you dread the idea of your phone getting stuck, having to reset, restore, re-jailbreak, etc. But I wanted to ask, when the phone gets stuck, are there ANY other options besides having to restore everything or is that the only way to get it working again?

Recently I jailbreak using pwnage then blackra1n/blacksn0w to unlock my iphone 3gs (3.1.2 - 05.11.07). So I decide to get one for my girlfriend same spec (3.1.2 - 05.11.07) and when I did the same process, itune gives the 1600 error during custom firmware restore. I later discovered it had a newer bootrom on this one and Untethered jailbreak (pwnage) wasn’t supported.
The iphone is currently stuck in DFU mode and unable to enter recovery mode and gives the 1600 error upon restore, I tried using new cable and switched from Mac to PC for the restore but none worked. With iREB not supporting 3gs. I am out of ideas anyone can help to restore the iphone?
I should have just used blackra1n (tethered) jailbreak and unlock it .I guess I can normal restore it to 3.1.3 and have a itouch instead if worst come to worst. In addition I have a question about blackra1n (tethered) jailbreak/unlock, I was under the assumption if I powered off I will loss the unlock, but that’s not the case on another iphone?
I was syncing photos today and my computer crashed. I didn't lose any photos, however it has left my iPhone 4 with a message "Restoring 84 of 90" on the main photo album screen. (See attached image below.) I have done everything short of doing a restore on the phone to try to get rid of it (resyncing, etc) Is that my only option, if that will even work? Or is there something else I can try?

I have been trying to restore my iPhone for about 12 hours now, and I'm about to pull my hair out if it doesn't work soon. The restore to factory settings goes fine, and then when I begin to set it up, it first gives me trouble activating it, but I just press continue when it says it hasn't been activated and a few minutes later I have signal. The next problem arises when I try and restore it from a iCloud backup. I have tried 3 different back ups, all 3 have given me the same problem. They say there is anywhere from 15-45 hours remaining, and it gets stuck at about a centimeter along the progress bar of the restoring settings part. I have not been able to get past this. Quite a few times it has said that my internet connection failed and I'll need to restart the restore. I know this most likely isn't true because I'll be on the computer at that exact point and not have an issue with the computer. I also have a very stable internet connection, and very fast. When I have done restores in the past it took about five minutes.

Currently flashing back to stock with the steps given by Heisenberg's step by step guide, number 11, how to flash the factory image.
At the command fastboot flash system C:anglerimagessystem.img and it has sat here for over an hour and a half now with the output of writing 'system'. If I'm not mistaken, my phone is basically bricked at this point, as all I have written to the phone right now is recovery and bootloader really, and since I flashed the stock bootloader that means it is relocked.
Is there any way I can unlock it from here and then flash TWRP again, and then restore one of my backups of my 6P to at least get it working again?
I'm upgrading from a Curve 8520 to a Curve 9320, so I backed up all my files and then restored it all onto my new phone. Everything works fine, signal, network, texts, calling, internet etc, but when I go onto the BBM app it asks me to type in my BB ID, which I do and then once it gets to restoring BBM it doesn't do anything even after being left for an hour.I've tried to follow methods of restoring online and on the forums but none work since the only option I have is to enter my ID and then there's only close options after that
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a factory unlocked iPhone 4S 16GB running iOS 5.0.1. Just like everyone else, I have major battery drain! It loses like 20% overnight! I sleep For about 8 hours. So thats 20% gone in 8 hours. So I was thinking of restoring it. When I click on the Restore icon in iTunes it starts updating my phone to iOS 5.1! I don't want to update to 5.1. So I was wondering whether I could download iOS 5.0.1 from the web and then Shift + Click on the restore icon and restore my phone. Will that work? A lot of people are saying that it won't work because Appl has stopped signing iOS 5.0.1. I have no idea what that means. But I used to Shift + Click and restore my old iPhone 3G and it restored perfectly. It's still running iOS 3.1.3 haha. And Its also factory unlocked.
So, would Shift + Clicking on the restore icon in iTunes and manually selecting iOS 5.0.1 restore my phone? I really don't want to update.

Having a few issues with my phone. It will 'sleep' and then upon clicking it no longer wakes, so I have to restart everytime. Anyway, I would like to restore it, since I've never had to do this I'm not quite sure what actually is missing after restoring from a backup. As far as I know sms and such things dont get restored? How can I restore the phone that it's basically exactly the same after (sms, notes, settings etc.)?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an iPhone 3gs i want to sell that has 3.1.3 on it with jailbreak a la Spirit and unlock a la blacksn0w. I have apps and personal data on there, and did the SHSH blob backup of 3.1.3 to Cydia right before 4.0 came out. Is there any easier way to restore it to stock than put 3.1.3 on there again (I fear it will not be accepted or some error even though I have the "blob backup" a noobie in that department and just followed instructions from a dev's twitter). Is there an easier way to restore the phone to clean, re-JB and re-unlock? Maybe like manually wipe all contacts, photos, and apps (that should take care of my personal data, right)?
Also, only going to sell my 3GS if iPhone 4 is not unlocked before the end of the summer. I'm going to Europe in the Fall and if this isnt the case, I'll just be bringing 3GS with me .
I just replaced my iphone3G with new iphone4. When I went to set up the ip4, i accidentally went to set up the backup from the 3G. I didn't want to do that. So I went ahead and restored the ip4. Now, all it shows is the screen to connect to itunes, but it won't restore, it gives me error.

It just started yesterday. The phone would shut off randomly and then the only way for it to come back up is to plug it in. Sometime it complete shut off where I would have to turn it back on or plugging it would just go straight to the home screen. Now the phone wont go past the apple sign at all. I got to the home screen two times today and one time it it had no connection and lost service and then it came back and then it had no service again. So I turned it off to try and get signal again.
Eventually it came back on and the phone worked for about 2 minutes and then just complete shut off while still plugged in. I am now trying to restore it and it keeps shutting of mid restore and then I have to keep putting it back into DFU mode or however you spell it. The phone has the most up to date firmware but do I need to start the download over if the phone cycled randomly while it the download was still downloading from itunes or do I just put it back into that mode and let it continue downloading?

My iPhone was having problems with syncing music from iTunes so I restored it to factory settings, then attempted to restore from one of my previous backups; all seemed to be going fine, the Restore in Progress screen came up on my iPhone, followed by the Apple logo and beneath it a loading bar. About 15 hours later and there's been no movement in the loading bar, it's still empty, so I'm assuming it must be frozen.

I've been trying for weeks to download the latest iPhone and iPad software update on iTunes but the download stops anywhere from 20Mb to 300Mb downloaded and says the server stopped responding. The download has to be started from scratch every time. Since I'm in South Africa and on a 2GB limited Internet package I am wasting valuable data on this.
