i just cut up a verizon sim card and inserted it into the phone and it says no sim card. i didnt cut any of the gold contact. i have a regular tmobile sim that is active and i wanna use it in my iphone 4 but im worried if i cut it up its not gonna work

I purchased an unlocked 4s to use with my T-Mobile SIM. I had previously been using a 3GS on T-Mobile. Since the update to version 5, apple has removed the settings toggle to disable the 3G radio. This causes a strange issue when 3G is forced to be on, after every call, the radio resets its self, dropping to 1 bar and searching before reconnecting. On version 5.0.1 I was able to jailbreak the phone and install a second party toggle to disable the 3G radio, this restored the normal operation of the phone on the T-Mobile network. But since upgrading to 5.1, I am unable to install this toggle, and it has made the phone really annoying to use. Why has apple removed this toggle? Have they moved it or is there another way to disable it?

But iMessage and Facetime is not working with my phone number, it just sending with my email address!I tried to change the receiving address to phone number but on my phone (setting-message-iMessage section), phone number bar is showing as verifying; same as on Facetime. Also its gray out and not possible to tab though. And finally verifying status changes to error... Even though my phone number seems as correct format with +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX. Instead I see a bunch of weird symbols, but the ATT iPhone can receive emoji's from my phone. Also some of my friends have a verizon iPhone and I can receive their Emoji icons, and they can receive mine. At one point I was able to receive emoji icons from ATT iPhones.

So far the phone is great but was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of the Tmobile garbage that is on the phone. I have a T-mobile sim card with unlimited data and an AT&T card with very limited data.With an AT&T sim card the N97 talks to the AT&T USA towers at "3.5G" speeds no problem. Beauty!But when I put my T-mobile sim card in it it will only connect to T-mobile towers. It sees that there is a T-mobile tower and an ATT tower no problem but it will only talk to the tmo tower.
If there is no T-mo tower it will connect to the ATT tower but it will not be at 3G just edge.I have tried to enter the apn settings manually but i am tripping up somewhere.Called T-mo and tier 3 tech support said that she could see no reason why it should not work. I pressed to find out if T-mo provisioned their sims to work at 3G soeeds ONLY on t-mo towers but she said that that was not the case.
N97 user manual mentions apn alterations being contingent on a PIN2 number coming off the sim card, but that did not sound tright to t-mo support.
Am i missing a very obvious thing like a switch called "turn on data roaming" ? My Nexus1 has that.
I have been waiting for the hand held software 5.0 to be released for about 3 months now. Every other company is way ahead and already moving onto the next software update. The other versions for my 8520 from other carriers do not show up on the application loader, even after completing every step. T-mobile needs to step its game up.

Then, trying to follow another's step-by-step instructions, I'm still having trouble following along. Here's my step-by-step to the point that I get lost. Open Menu, tap Settings, tap Messaging, scroll down to Messaging Settings, tap Multimedia Message, tap MMS Profiles... and this is where it gets confusing for me. Whether I try to edit one of the preset profiles, or add my own, these are the lines I'm offered to work with:

I got a the blackberry storm 2 9550 and I had it unlock to work on tmobile network and my email and internet is working but any 3 party app the need use the Internet won't work. When I try to use myspace or ubertwitter my EDGE go upper case to Lower case. But if I use my email or the web browsers it work just fine. I typing this up on my storm now. My apn is set wap.voicesteam.com . I need to know is there any way to fix this so I can use 3 party apps.

I am most likely going to order and have the iPhone 4 shipped to my Apple Store so I can pick it up first thing in the morning. I won't just be able to pop my old regular sim into it. I'm thinking that I will go to iTunes to setup the new iPhone 4 and do all of the rate plan setup and somewhere along the way it will transfer my current phone number to my new iPhone 4's micro sim. Do you guys think this is the way it'll work?A drawback to this new micro sim thing is that I no longer will be able to swap the sim from my iPhone 4 to any old phone that i may wish to use for whatever reason.
