IPhone :: How To Accurately Test 4

Probably the best way to test the real time 3G connection on your iPhone is with a ping tool. The one I used is a free app called Network Ping Lite.Download the tool and turn off WIFI. Open it up and choose the Ping utility. Enter an ip (you can use 208.67.222.222), scroll down to turn on "Ping forever" and then hit Start.
Watch to see if you get a response and note the time in "ms". Then do whatever you think might affect the connection. If the times go up or if it stops responding you've affected the connection.
Mine will sometimes start dropping pings almost immediately after putting the lower left corner of the phone in my palm. This is what happens in the screenshot below. FWIW, this doesn't bother me, I just hold the phone a different way.

I have been trying to figure out why my calendar events in my iPad and MacBook don't accurately reflect what I put in my iPhone. I can see some of the events, but not all. I have iCloud sync activated in both devices, and on my MacBook. I primarily add and view events on my iPhone, but would like the changes to be reflected across all devices.

Is there an app that can accurately measure the condition of the battery similar to software in notebook PCs? My battery is coming up to 15 months old and I notice this past week it doesn't seem to be as good at holding a charge.
Has anyone used Motorola Service to replace the battery yet?

I had a question for the new Torch owners, regarding email in the Torch/OS6.I have read references to HTML emails now taking advantage of the new WebKit engine to render emails more accurately. On the one hand, that sounds great, as the broken up emails were annoying. On the other hand, one of the great advantages of my 9700 over iPhones that I have had is that email is readable on a BB!The iPhone often gets so wrapped up in rendering the email that text can appear super tiny or not wrapped correctly so that there is an absolute ton of horizontal scrolling and no amount of zooming in/out can get it right.Is this now a problem for the Torch? Or has RIM found a way around this. I have read that the browser manages to reformat text to fit the page, so I wonder if RIM have done something similar for emails to circumvent this issue.Basically, is the process of reading emails more involved and more of a pain now, even if more true to the original formatting?

After the recent update, I'm noticing a few things fixed and a few things broken. On the things broken, one is the battery charge indicator in the upper right hand corner of the GUI next to the time.At 29% it shows half full. At 49% it shows at around 75%. If you go to the Settings, Battery & Data Manager, that will show properly at 50% for instance, while the icon shown in the GUI next to the clock is not showing half green but more like 75% greenI have a nifty widget called "Tiny Battery Widget" that gives a more accurate representation (which is consistent with the battery charge indicator found buried in the system's menu under "Battery & data manager" ) and also verifies the small icon at the top right next to the clock is overly optimistic.

I've set up my iP4 as a New phone and did NOT restore from a previous backup. I did a full charge to 100%, reset the data usage and made sure all apps were closed. I put it the phone to sleep (clicked power button) and I went to sleep. I woke up this morning and woke the phone up; 4% was used after 6hrs and 50min of standby time, there was no other usage.
Doing some quick math this would equate to 170.83 hours of standby time assuming a linear relationship; 56.94% of the 300hrs on the spec sheet.
410min/4% = 102.50min/% of standby use
102.5min*100/60 = 170.83 hours
This seems pretty light given the standby time rating. I'm hoping I can get others to perform the same test to get a decent sample of performance, please post your findings.

Running the speed test app side-by-side with my wife's iPhone 4 and she's getting an avg of 1.5Mbps and my iPhone 4 is getting 700k.
I've run this 4 times now with the same results each time.
She's got an Apple bumper, I've got an iFrogz case.
She's got 4 bars.
I've got 2 bars.
They're literally sitting next to each other on a table.
I took my case off, no change.
Hers is also one minute faster than mine (both clocks set to auto)

I just received an invite on my FB page from a person called John Burchet to test Iphone 5. All he want's is my address and within 3-5 days I will receive either the phone or some email I presume. Today and all of a sudden i was downloading an application from apple store using my account, but the download failed and the following message appeared: "this is not a test user account, create an account using sandbox envirnoment"This is the first time that such thing happens to me knowing that I've downloaded hundreds of applications using my account without any problem.

Considering the poor performance of ios4 on the iphone4, I'm inclined to wonder did the developers have any phones to test it on. Some of the bugs are so blatantly obvious typing lags dreadful Bluetooth performance and that awful proximity sensor bug. I waited several weeks after US launch mainly to allow all bugs to be ironed out but that didn't work. Cmon apple get your finger out. You dropped the ball on this one.

Every now and then, I will send a text message to a friend, and somehow, the message and the following conversation, seems to be copied to my wifes phone. An interesting scenario!! Also makes me wander who else might be aware of my sms conversations!I cant put my finger on when the issue first started, it does seem to have started fairly recenlty though. At first i thought i must have done something wrong...but now i am sure there is some sort of anomaly here. I have done an iphone reset (ie..hold power and home buttons down for 10 seconds). That did not seem to resolve. My friends is using an iphone 3GS (not sure of iOS version) and my wife and i are both on iphone 4 with 5.1.1. My wife's and my phone are managed by the same itunes account / pc (not sure if there is some sort of confusion between phs somehow?)

I am facing trouble with my iphone 4s with the software ios5.1.1.I get a pop up whenever I download using my iphone 4s saying This is not a test user account. Please create a new account in the sandbox environment. [Environment: Sandbox] Ok so let me explain a few things, after doing some research on the web, here are answers for some questions that you might ask.
1.) No, my iphone isn't jailbroken.2.) I can download from my ipad2 but not from my iphone 4s3.) This is the third time this happened. The first time it happened was back in May, I restored and backed up my iphone. Then on July 26 this happened again, so I backed up and restored my account again. Then the problem came back just now.4.) My mom, two sisters, and one brother all use MY ACCOUNT on their devices. I use my account on my ipad and iphone 4s. So in total, six devices are using my account, two of those devices are mine. 5.) To be fair, I only experienced this problem when I put my account on my brother and sisters devices. However I don't think that's the problem.6.) Yes, I tried to sign out, turned off my iphone, opened my iphone. Yet I still get the same error.7.) My mom and siblings can download perfectly, my ipad even works, it's just my iphone that's causing trouble.

Yesterday when trying to install CCloud from comodo on my iphone directly from the App store an error occured: This is not a test user account.Please create a new account in the sandbox environment.[Environment: Sandbox] I tried signing out from the appstore on my iPhone, but when i try to sign in the same error occurs.Also tried rebooting the iPhone, when i try to sign in the sandbox error pops up. I'm currently on iOS 5.1 - iPhone 4S 16GB (FYI: Not Jailbreaked)

I just got my device back from the repair depot. I sent it in b/c I cant charge my battery. Everything else worked great on the device. I was told that it was out of warrenty and it was sent back. (Not a problem, I have a broken screen 9800 that I was using to charge my battery in the first place)When I got my device back, it is stuck on a white screen that gives me an option on testing the camera, LED, FLASH, etc.. But it does not give me the option of exiting or anything. When I plug it into Desktop Manager, I get that it doesnt connect and gives the options of retry or upgrade. So I go and press update, it connects and starts working. It gets upto the JVM and then it states that it can not connect to the device.What can I do here? It was fine (software wise) before I sent it off and the depot screwed it up!!! What steps can I take into getting my Torch back to where it was?

I'm trying to test on the data speeds of a REV 0 device on Sprint using an older Motorola V3m. And for the life of me i cant get any normal speedtesting sites to work that measure how fast my data is.First I tried using the built in browser(Obigo Browser Q04C1-1.17) with http://mobilespeedtest.com and when running the test it gets stuck at the test running page and never redirects to my results. The second site I tried with the browser is http://text.broadbandreports.com/mspeed in which if I try to run a 1M test I get the message that the maximum download size has been exceeded. None of the smaller test sizes are large enough to produce results.
Is there some kind of a download size limit in this phone? maybe a changeable setting?The last thing I have tried is a J2me based bandwith testing app however that app would give me an error about not being able to download the test file.Does anyone have any ideas on what might work to test my data speeds on a Sprint Motorola Razr v3m? any good java apps i could load onto the phone out there that might work? also pardon my noobishness when it comes to cdma motos.

Under my message general options I have set, "Days to keep messages:" to Forever.Does that mean they stay where they are or do they get saved to another location on my device?Also, recently my Curve 8520 went caput so I was given a replacement handset.Not in my BB Desktop Software, I have backups for two handsets.I need to get access to texts and e-mails BEFORE I set the above setting to Forever which may mean thos texts / e-mails are in earlier backups on the old device.Q: Am i able to backup my new/current handset (also a curve 8520) with the very first backup from my previous curve 8520?If not, is there any way I can get into the backup file and interrogate the data within it to get texts from in there?

Is this something I should be concerned with? Recently bought a xperia z3+ E6553 and the phone is great but I'm having some minor glitchy Bluetooth issues that I started a topic about but one strange thing is during my trouble shooting. I ran all tests under the Sony diagnosis test and nearly everything passed no issues except for the flash test the flash did not activate during the test. When I was trying to solve the Bluetooth issues i did 2 master resets and even did the repair thing on PC companion.
