I tried searching the forum but I couldn't find anything on this.I was listening to engadget's podcast, and they were talking about the iPhones retina display. Joshua Topolsky was asking if the new screen would allow more things to be seen compared to previous iPhones (think of a list higher resolution should allow you to see more in a given area). The other people seemed to think that it wasn't true.
View 16 RepliesI dont get why RIM keeps making phones where the screen is big but has those borders around it taking away possible screen space? The screen on this phone could be much wider and offer a better experience if they did not do this with the screen as much. I do not understand why they do it this way. Maybe because of formatting reasons or something, but looks tacky.Just my 2 cents, any one have any opinions on why they do this?

I noticed that sometimes when an app is loading after selecting it from the app store, the icon is very high res when it has the loading bar.After the app loads and installs,the icon makes a noticable shift to a low res version.It is definitely not because the icon is grayed out, you can visibly see the switch from high res to low res.Anyone know how to fix this?No idea why an icon would show in high res then switch for no reason.

On my LG Optimus 7 I find text in the browser to be really spidery in comparison, and I assume that this is because of the lower screen res. View 5 Replies View RelatedDid I miss the memo that says deleting lo-res photos will somehow not allow one to open the hi-res versions? I have the 1520 connected to my Windows 7 PC (via USB) and wanted to keep the hi-res versions only, so I deleted the lo-res ones. The hi-res files still appear as physical files in file explorer with multiple megabytes but no preview/ thumbnail (same as before). I can't transfer them to an empty folder on my Desktop or to Imgur, nothing happens, not even an explanation. I checked my recycle bin and the lo-res files are no where to be found.

I've been able to set a streaming solution through VLC to my nokia device and can stream netTV, movies, DVD discs, webcam from my personal PC. Through the tests, i've found that the maximum resolution is width=352, height=288 which is 11:9 aspect ratio. Of course i can set 16:9 ratio which again has the limitation of the width=352. Every pixel above 352 makes the nokia response in "Unable to play video clip".So obviously there is some limitation in the resolutions through live streams. When i play a video from the Memory Card, 640*360 is supported without a problem.The problem is, that i have access to several streams , which are live TVs and i can watch only those, that are below 352 pixels wide. Those that are in resolution 448*336 don't play, although the format and the codecs of the stream are the same as with the 352*288.So, is there a way , that i can remove these limitations, or at least allow the Real Player to play streaming links with higher than 352 pxls width?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI hooked up my razr maxx to my tv via HDMI (which worked) but my screen size was a little off. Well, instead of adjusting the overlay slider, i changed the resolution of the HDMI going out of my phone to 1920 x 1080.... Well my TV does not support that resolution. Now when I connect it to the television via HDMI cable, TV says no input, droid switches to a mode that turns the screen black and creates an image on screen that looks like the mouse and two buttons on a laptop. The phone assumes that the image is being displayed via HDMI so it does not show it on the screen. The problem is i changed my outgoing video resolution to some wrong setting. The option to change this is only available when your phone is connected to another vidoe source and you can see it on the display of that other device. how i can adjust it?

Okay I jailbroke and unlocked my iphone 3gs when I first got it back in July. I had never checked the option to convert higher bit rate songs to 128 Kbps on my old 3GS. Therefore my music was taking up over 14 gb out of the mere 32 on my phone. Well, while adjusting what I would sync onto the new iP4, I decided to try this setting. My music now only consumes 6.7 GB. that's a big space savings. I wanted to add a couple of HD movies to see what they looked like on the retnia display, so this has really helped.

Got my 32 GB iPhone 4 yesterday and set up as a new device using the same playlist of music that I used on my 32 3gs. I check marked the box to convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC just like I had in the past with the 3gs. With the 3gs it brought a playlist consisting of 4625 songs at 26.70 GB down to 17 GB. With the iPhone 4 synced it does the same in the drop down menu under devices then iPhone in Music then at the bottom it lists the playlist that I use, both read 4625 songs at 17 GB. At the summary page with the bar at the bottom it reads I have 23.29 GB of audio on the iPhone and unplugging going to settings then about it reads 4625 songs at 23.29 GB. So I only have 4.48 GB free when I should have around 9 or 10. I resynced twice to see if it would change with the same outcome, restored the device and called apple care with no answer on why it reads different.Going to the Apple Store tomorrow unless one of you has a solution to this.

Today I take that phone to the Apple Store because it is getting hot and battery dies in like 4 hours. They give me a new one to replace. 2 hours later my new iPhone is hot and dying. I do not get it. It can't be the phone (it is brand new) it can't be the Apps there is only one on there (FB). I think I may have a corrupt iTunes Account?

If I use the option to convert higher bit rate songs to 128 AAC for my iPhone, I can no longer see my ringtones that I've synced on the iPhone itself. When I plug the iPhone in, iTunes shows that they are on my phone but when selecting ringtones for contacts, they are not visible. When I uncheck the option and resync, the ringtones are now there. I've tried changing the name of the tones but no luck. Anyone else have this issue or a solution?
