So it's been said Apple would make an announcement about the IPhone today regarding the problems/solutions. Is the announcement of the selling over a million phones that release? If that were the case, what the heck!

Anyone else think we might see something today? Given that it's been quite a while since launch and the problems surfaced to national attention, and now with the Consumer Reports story. I feel we might see something today. If not, this week.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI've been around since the first IPhone release and apple has never announced a specific case for the 2G, 3G or 3GS. But now with the new IPhone 4 they release a bumper, not really a case. And notice the bumper only surrounds the metal band and thats about the only protection you get? They probably knew about the signal loss during late stages of mass production I'm guessing. This is just interesting to me and speculation.

View 15 Replies View RelatedAnyone else a bit annoyed that if you made a reservation to get the IPhone 4 on opening day, partly so you could be the first anywhere to get it, you are now getting it 1 day later than others who aren't anywhere near an Apple store and/or chose mail order? Kind of takes a bit of the excitement away from the hassle of rushing to an Apple store on release day and waiting in the reservation line.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI definitely have issues with the reception when I touch the phone, but seems some people are ok. As we are all running the same software I think there is a production problem on some phones. How about Apple release an app you download if you think you have a problem. The app checks the reception when you are touching and not touching it, and if it determines there is a problem with your phone it automatically orders you a replacement. It could also check your GPS and immediately send an Apple courier to your location but that is maybe going to far.

View 14 Replies View RelatedOne of the three Apple USB cables I have has this feature and I prefer it, it is a little bigger on the iPhone'd end and has bottons on the side to release and be able to disconnect. Don't remember where I got it but seems all the current ones don't have this, smaller and just pull which makes it harder..

First, state clearly that signal loss issue is not iPhone 4 exclusive, and make demos with other phones from different manufactures.
Second, explain why so many negative news on Apple flowing recently:
1, Media use iPhone to catch eye balls
2, Competitors over exaggerate this issue to strike on Apple
Finally, give Apple's response:
1, Apple's strike back to competitors: iPhone 4's price will lower to $149 (16GB) and $249 (32GB)
2, Existing customers can choose to get either complete refund or $100 Apple Store credits
3, Customers can almost get 2 Bumpers with the lowered $50, so no free Bumper offering.
So I am headed to Vegas for work during the iPhone release. Would I be able to go to the Apple store there and upgrade my iPhone on release day or do I have to wait to return home and buy it in NJ?

Recently KLM updated their app to version 3.4.2 an apparently Release 9890.
On my iPhone I still have to deal with (buggy) release 9886 even though by now I have deleted & reinstalled the app several times. how to force a release upgrade of an app??

When I got the 4S stock with iOS 5.0 (gripes about the Apple-imposed limitations aside,) the phone was fine. Come 5.0.1, I think it was fine as well. When I updated to 5.1, however, it seemed to make touch less responsive and increased the latency. It was much more noticable when trying to utilize pinch to zoom. Often times in the browser or photo viewing, I'd pinch and nothing would happen and I'd have to try a second time or my input would be really delayed. I'm wondering if 1) anyone else noticed this, 2) if it's fixed in the recent release of 5.1.1 and 3) if anything else gets screwed up in the update. Because of this, I'm hesitant to update.

We know there is the mobilesafari exploit which allows untethered start-up for new bootrom 3GS and iPod touch devices. There is a good chance the geohot has found the same exploit. Now that Apple have it narrowed down to mobilesafari, will they not try to find the exploit themselves before releasing any significant update?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe story so far: I bought an accessory in Nov 2011 at an Apple Retail Store. (Philips dual-dock speaker) It started malfunctioning in Mar 2012. (Dock not charging anymore) I brought it to an Apple Store (closer to my place), they were happy to replace it on the spot, except that there was none in stock. So I was advised to go to an other Store (the original one), where they had stock. So far, so good for service. I went to the other store, but there I was told that they could not replace it because I had bought it more than 14 days before, so I had to contact the manufacturer directly! So my questions are:
- What is, if any, the actual policy on non-Apple product repair & replacement?
- Why don't all store follow the same policy?
- Should I just try my luck again with another person, until I strike gold and get it replaced?
