IPhone :: 4s Flash Does Work With OtterBox Cases
Apr 17, 2012I found that the flash on the 4s would not work with many different cases. I can confirm that the flash does work OtterBox cases.

May 10, 2012The flash works fine with the camera but doesn't work with any other app using the flash like flashlight or heart rate monitor. I tried downloading different apps or deleting the app and reinstalling rebooting the phone each time but the problem persists. Any suggestions? I upgraded to 5.1.1. The same

Jul 22, 2010I ordered the Defender for my Iphone 4 2 days ago and got it today - That's fast shipping (paid for 3 day shipping).I love this case, but having never owned one of these cases in the past, I was instantly overwhelmed with how to break it down to put the phone into it. The directions are pictures on the inside of the box and not very clear. This is my only complaint.I eventually figured it out and I can tell you it is the best case I have ever owned. It does add bulk, but it has a nice tactile feel to it and access to all ports. The incuded holster with belt clip is rock soild. If I knew how to upload pictures here, I would post some.

May 5, 2010I have had an Otterbox Defender on all three of my iPhones and just love the case. Otterbox just upgraded their holster and gave the new one to existing customers that asked for it; GREAT customer service. The only thing that I didn't like about the case was the "oil slick" that you see under the screen. I've tried using baby powder and it worked for a while, but you had to keep it refreshed. Well I went to Apple and bought their Anti-glare screen protector and put it on the phone and inserted the phone in the Otterbox case and OMG no more "oil slick". Just thought you might like to know.

Jun 24, 2010Is it me or are there no cases out yet for the iP4? I know wants us to believe we don't need one and it's indestructible, plus they want us to by their bumper, aka a $30 rubber band, but I want a case. I am going to very careful with it for now, but I am a bit nervous. I can toss my 3G, w/ Incase slider, on my desk or table, even drop it and I have no worries. I just hope cases hit the market soon. I have not gone into any stores yet to look, so if anyone knows anything please let me know. I looked online and it's slim pickins. Post pics and reviews of your iP4 cases.

Feb 23, 2010My wife and I just purchased 2 3G Iphones. We want to protect them ASAP. We want to buy cases that will help protect the phone from being dropped. Also we want them to be somewhat slim and not bulky. I would think a silicon case would be better than a hard case in shock absorption but please correct me if I am wrong. My wife keeps her phone in her purse while I usually have it in my pocket. Are budget for both is $50 shipped. Do hard cases help absorb shock when you drop your phone? Also what is a good online retailer for Iphone cases? Here are the options I am thinking about. I am open to any other suggestions. Amazon has these all in stock.

Switcheasy Capsule Neo: Looks better than Rebel but reviews are not as good.
Iskin Solo: What my wife is looking for but may be too glossy.
Shield polycarbonate slim fit case: Cheap on amazon but don't hear too much about this case
Incipio Feather: Looks awesome and slim but would it protect the phone when dropped??
Speck Candyshell: Looks very nice but rubber corners and bottom tend to break or rip.
Seidio Flexarmour: Ok looks. Don't hear much about them.
Seidio innocase: Looks nice but will it protect iphone if dropped??
Otterbox Impact: Cheap, good reviews, and looks like it will protect. It looks too bulky and not the most attractive case either,

IPhone :: When Phone In Otterbox Defender Case Proximity Sensor Stops Working
Jul 27, 2010Got my Defender the other day. I noticed that when the phone is in the case the proximity sensor stops working. I take the phone out and it work fine. I emailed Otterbox and the guy said to clean the plastic window. Really?? you dont think I tried that before sending the email? I am going to try my brothers case to see if its the case. My brother told me that he had the proximity sensor issue before the case and now his works fine. My last step is to reload 4.0.1 but I have to figure out how to get a video off the phone first.

Oct 20, 2015I've been having issues with my rear camera on Nexus 5 (my front facing camera works fine). Currently the camera and the flash will not work and basically stopped working some time around the upgrade to lollipop. While on lollipop, I tried uninstalling the app updates, restarting, clearing the cache... Now, I'm currently running 6.0 and still the camera/flash are not working. Tonight I tried wiping the phone and reverting all the way back to kitkat 4.4.4 to see if that would fix it. I tried this multiple times, wiping and reflashing to various versions ranging from 4.4.0 to 6.0 to see if any would somehow fix the camera issue, but none worked.
At this point, I'm back on 6.0 and its still not working. My phone doesn't even show the default camera app in the app drawer. I have to access it through the shortcut on the lock screen and when I do I get the "Can't connect to the camera" message. I'm assuming its a hardware issue at this point. From what I can tell, the flash is not part of the camera module, so if the camera itself broke, it seems like the camera flash should still be recognized and functional (its not in my case, not even an option for the default flashlight on the taskbar pull-down screen). I am wondering if its worth buying an oem replacement camera module and installing it to see if this fixes the issues.
