IPhone :: Otterbox Defender Just Upgraded Their Holster
May 5, 2010
I have had an Otterbox Defender on all three of my iPhones and just love the case. Otterbox just upgraded their holster and gave the new one to existing customers that asked for it; GREAT customer service. The only thing that I didn't like about the case was the "oil slick" that you see under the screen. I've tried using baby powder and it worked for a while, but you had to keep it refreshed. Well I went to Apple and bought their Anti-glare screen protector and put it on the phone and inserted the phone in the Otterbox case and OMG no more "oil slick". Just thought you might like to know.
I ordered the Defender for my Iphone 4 2 days ago and got it today - That's fast shipping (paid for 3 day shipping).I love this case, but having never owned one of these cases in the past, I was instantly overwhelmed with how to break it down to put the phone into it. The directions are pictures on the inside of the box and not very clear. This is my only complaint.I eventually figured it out and I can tell you it is the best case I have ever owned. It does add bulk, but it has a nice tactile feel to it and access to all ports. The incuded holster with belt clip is rock soild. If I knew how to upload pictures here, I would post some.

I just purchased the OtterBox for my iphone 4S, and it seems that now my wi-fi while at home is very very slow. Just wondering if the OtterBox could slow my connection, as I am not sure where on the iphone or how it connects (speaks) to my router.
Got my Defender the other day. I noticed that when the phone is in the case the proximity sensor stops working. I take the phone out and it work fine. I emailed Otterbox and the guy said to clean the plastic window. Really?? you dont think I tried that before sending the email? I am going to try my brothers case to see if its the case. My brother told me that he had the proximity sensor issue before the case and now his works fine. My last step is to reload 4.0.1 but I have to figure out how to get a video off the phone first.
My boss has a BB Curve 8530 and she wants to set it up to vibrate only in holster and ring outside of holster. Is this an option I can set up in Profiles? If so, do i have to adjust this option for every sound (i.e. MMS, e-mail, alerts, etc)?Or there an easy way to adjust these settings? I'm not very familiar with the BBs so please be gentle.
I recently switched from a Bold 9000 to a new Torch 9800 with the new OS 6.0. On my Bold I could set one ringtone for In Holster @ one volume and a different ringtone @ a different volume for Out Of Holster within the same profile. So far this seems impossible with the new operating system. Seems I can only set one ringtone and one vibrate for each profile. Am I missing something?
I recently downloaded the new update for my Blackberry Tour, and I have noticed that my phone is not remembering its settings (im assuming). When I have my phone holstered, it only vibrates twice and does not ring (though I have it set to Always for the ringtone) for my MMS/SMS messages. When its out of holster, it will only do the default text messing sound. I am not sure how to fix this though I have rebooted it twice in attempts for the settings.
I just ordered this case and am hoping that it works well. I have the same series of case for my Nokia E72 and I really like it. I couldn't really find any reviews for the case on the iPhone 4 so I took a chance and just ordered it. Hopefully I made a good decision.Does anyone have a personal review on this case?
Does anybody know if the Atrix 2 will fit in either the car dock or the HD dock with Otterbox's Commuter case? I'm guessing it doesn't, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if it did. It'd be nice to have a hard plastic case that also allowed for docking.
I've been using the otterbox for the Nokia Lumia 1020 for a while now and just recently the phone just "died." I'v tried the restore (volume down + power) and charged it. I think the phone overheated and died in the otterbox.
when you put the bb into the OEM holster ..the screen is suppose to face in NOT OUT the picture on the crackberry.com homepage linking to accessories for the torch...
When in holster and I receive a call, my 9700 will only ring once, even if the caller is still on the line. I am using the Normal profile, and the phone setting for Normal is set to Play sound = Always. I also checked the set ringtone alerts, and the Play sound = Always as well.I am running OS 5.0.0.545. is this a bug?
My wife and i have had blackberrys for 4yrs but the two new 9700 are driving me mad !! Whilst in the holster they only ring once so missing loads of calls and when you pull the device from the holster it is not locked and the settings are telling me it should be. Checked all settings and they are correct. Running V5.0.0.586 (PLATFORM 5.1.0.146).
I have a BB9900 and in the beginning it was able to respond and go into sleep mode when its place inside the holster. However, recently it started to stop responding to holster.
I have the ring tone on 9900 set to always so it should keep ringing in and out of the holster but when I take it out of the holster the ringtone stops. My 9300 did exactly the same thing. I've changed it 'out of holster' ringtone which works as does in holster but when set to ring always it stops out of the holster.
I've had to change my BB for a new one, and some settings aren't the same. When an email comes in, I like to see which folder it's in then choose to open. It's opening the email when I take it out of the holster.
I've just got a 9360 and it won't recognise the holster I have. I have tried the phone in various other holsters and it won't recognise any of them. Help, I used to love the fact my old Curve recognised the holster and switched to sleep mode and reserved battery life etc. Is there a setting within the phone I have to switch on?
I've noticed that when I do a reboot on my 9700, the custom settings I have for vibration (i.e., in holster) under the Normal profile get reset to default. Seems to occur on the items in the "Other" section of the profile.I set the vibration to off for nearly all entries. After reboot, they reset to Custom with a vibration count of 2.I'm also running BerryBuzz - thought maybe that was the software causing this. But some of the entries in Other have (BerryBuzz) written next to them; others do not. Yet they all seem to reset to default once I reboot.I'm running 5.0.0.405
My 9700 rings ONLY ONCE while it is in the holster. The settings regarding vibration doesn't change this. What should I do to have my 9700 ringing several times while it is in the holster?
My Torch 9810 is not recognizing the settings when it is in the holster. When I run diagnostics it picks up the holster but will not vibrate when in the holster.
Bought Blackberry Bold 9900 and have one of those defective holsters because upon inserting the phone into the holster one of the keys got ripped off. When I went with the guarantee to the store. The key is still press-able; the people from the store told me that the keyboard must be changed with the underlying circuit board.
