Huawei Nexus 6P :: TWRP Not Wiping - SystemUI Crash?

Dec 25, 2015

I can't seem to find my way to FULLY wipe when I want to flash or try a new ROM. I just installed an RRO that resulted in SystemUI crash, I then went to reflash the ROM, same results. Decided to WIPE in TWRP and reflash the rom, the SystemUI FC is still there ! Wipe, Flash ROM, then Wipe, same result... What's wrong with my TWRP ? I am on the latest. I just restored an old backup, and I have the same FC of system UI !

Huawei Nexus 6P :: TWRP And Cannot Restore Error

Jan 31, 2016

I was running Pure Nexus and decided I would install Chroma today. I made a full backup in recovery with TWRP. I then installed Chroma and Gapps. Upon booting it told me I needed to update my vendor image. I couldn't remember how I did that the last time so I decided to just go back to my Pure Nexus and restore it. When I tried I got this error: "E: Cannot restore System -- mounted read only". How to fix this so I can restore that backup? I've searched and didn't find a solution. Also, couldn't find exactly how to flash the update vendor.img. Should have written all this down when I did it back in November.

Huawei Nexus 6P :: TWRP Shows 0 Bytes After 6.0.1 Update

Dec 21, 2015

I was rooted on 6.0 and wanted to keep my user data, so I downloaded the 6.0.1 factory image and individually flashed the different pieces with Fast boot.

I also updated to the latest TWRP.

My phone now boots to 6.0.1 and works normally, but when I go into recovery TWRP can't access the internal SD card and just shows 0 bytes, so I can't reflash SuperSU.

Huawei Nexus 6P :: TWRP Backup And Seemingly Extra Mounts?

Feb 14, 2016

I'm running the latest TWRP 3.0.0.0. I noticed when taking a backup, and it asks which partitions I'd like to back up, I notice a couple new ones I've not seen before. System image, vendor image, right below, system, and vendor. I notice the "image" partitions are slightly larger than regular system and vendor. What are these, and should they be included in a regular backup?

Huawei Nexus 6P :: Rooting / Flashing TWRP Builds Other Than MDB08K

Nov 8, 2015

On Chainfire's thread there is a link to a boot image for the MDB08K build of our phones, but nothing else. I personally have build number MDB08L and when I tried rooting the phone and flashing TWRP, I became stuck in a bootloop that I was eventually able to recover from. That was using the stock boot image for the MDB08L build number from Google's site.

My question simply is, how can we root any version other than the MDB08K build because we don't have a modified boot image of any other build.

Huawei Nexus 6P :: Phone Encrypted After Flashing ROM - Cannot Decrypt Using TWRP

Jan 3, 2016

As the title states, I flashed the lastest Cataclysm (stable) and ElementalX kernel(also TWRP asked me that SuperSU wasn't present and to flash it so I did, that might've messed it up), phone booted up fine and set my fingerprint password and everything. I decided to reboot my phone and the phone encrypted itself and now the ROM is force closing and I can't do anything. It asks for a password every time the recovery starts up (I tried default_password, no go) and TWRP won't let me decrypt.

So my question is, is there a way to decrypt without erasing userdata? Would really like to keep my internal storage. I have lots of important pictures and files.

So I flashed the latest firmware, after being unlocked, then rent back to bootloader, flashed recovery, went to recovery and installed file. Then restarted...now stuck in boot loop. It booted before I went to flash recovery in the new firmware just fine.

Do you need to flash something else when you flash recovery?

it says device is corrupt when I restart, but I was under the impression that screen comes up when bootloader is unlocked, so not sure if it means anything...

I'm confused as to how that could happen.

Huawei Nexus 6P :: Slow Motion Camera Crash 100% Of Time

Dec 20, 2015

the camera app crashes on my 6p while doing slow motion video. I've seen a few mentions of this here and there on the web, with suggestions to factory reset / wipe cache, etc. I have tried this but no luck. I don't really see a definitive answer anywhere, but see quite a few complaints about it.

What happens is the camera app crashes when trying to take slow motion video, while zoomed in, either at 120 fps or 240 fps. I haven't seen anybody else mention this specifically while zoomed in, but that's what's happening to me. If I'm in the camera app and switch to slow mo video, then zoom in, move the phone around a bit, the app freezes and crashes with a "cannot connect to camera" error 100% of the time. I don't even have to start recording, the screen just starts to get jumpy, then eventually freezes completely. It's not a random thing, I can replicate the problem over and over.

Huawei Nexus 6P :: TWRP Data Backup Didn't Backup Lock Pattern

Nov 17, 2015

I reflashed all the factory images to my Nexus 6P (except userdata), and then restored a TWRP backup of the data partition. This worked, my phone boots up and obviously has my installed apps, etc. But... on the Nexus 6P when you restart the phone you have to enter your lock pattern or PIN. My phone was previously configured with a pattern. It seems the TWRP data backup didn't backup the lock pattern, because it doesn't recognize my pattern.

My fingerprint is recognized, but on the Nexus 6P you still have to enter the lock pattern or PIN when you first reboot. So, I have no way to get into the phone. I tried setting a new lock screen password with Android Device Manager, but it doesn't work. I still get the screen asking for the lock pattern. Is there any way I can get into my phone without blowing away all the data?

Google Nexus 6 :: Clearing / Wiping Cache Partition?

On my old HTC EVO phone, and on my Nexus 7 2012 WiFi 32GB, Clearing / Wiping the Cache Partition, is a good practice to keep the OS running smoothly.

On the N6, I haven't seen much discussion of it.

Would you do it as a regular maintenance step?

Would you do it before and/or after flashing or installing a new version of Android?

Google Nexus 5 :: How To Root With No Factory Reset Without Wiping Photos

Sep 26, 2015

I own a LG Nexus 5 (non rooted), and I've been using this photo app called VSCOcam solely as my phone camera for the last 2 years, and I've taken thousands and thousands of photos with it. The phone has been amazing for the last 2 years but it is time for an upgrade.

So I went to backup my phone and realized that VSCOcam had screwed me... The app has its own internal library so unless you "export" the photos, they are not accessible in /sdcard. Someone in XDA forums had the app and told me that the photos are stored inside "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" and unless I root I wont have access.

Now heres the cycle of stupidness which I think you all can guess. In order to root -> I need to unlock my bootloader, and to unlock my bootloader -> I need to factory reset!

I've tried just about everything to root my phone without factory resetting, so far none has succeeded.I contacted the devs for VSCOcam and they told me to highlight the photos individually and export...

What should I do? Should I just bite the bullet and lose ALL MY PHOTOS?? The app is currently listed as 12gb in size...

TL;DR - VSCOcam hid thousands of photos in "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" which is unreachable without root, and to root means to factory reset my phone wiping all the photos I'm trying to get in the first place...

Google Nexus 5 :: Bootloader Flash From TWRP

Aug 18, 2015

I was trying to install a ROM and things got a bit messed up. I wiped system/cache/dalvik/data via TWRP. I then went to install the ROM but it failed due to only supporting hhz12h bootloader.

So now I'm kind of stuck. I can't update the bootloader because fastboot/ADB won't list the device in TWRP. Is there any way to launch an ADB server in TWRP so I can fastboot the bootloader? Doesn't look like there is.

If there's not: Is there a TWRP zip-install hhz12h bootloader I can use? Looked around, couldn't find one.

If not I'll have to try and find/flash the original image..but fastboot is not going to happen so I have to find a zip installable one that'll work with hhz12d bootloader...which hopefully is around. Otherwise I could install literally anything just to get an ADB server so I can fastboot the hhz12h bootloader in there.
