Huawei Nexus 6P :: Some Files Not Showing After Update To 6.0.1
Dec 12, 2015
I am not rooted. I can access my phone through Windows 10. But I cannot see all my folders. The 2 that I am having problems with are my Camera and Music folders. Some of the files are there. When I use ES File Explorer I can see and access them fine. Right now I cannot pull off any of the photos or videos I take. This all happened after upgrading to 6.0.1. I have tried 2 different cables and 2 different computers with the same results. I have made sure that USB Debugging is enabled. I also made sure that I had PTP and MTP enabled. Also upgraded to the latest 6P drivers for Windows 10.
No matter what I do I cannot see files over USB anymore! WEIRDEST thing I've seen in a long time... I can see FOLDERS no problem. Files act like they don't exist! I'm on PN, BTW...
Having problem seeing the storage after plugging into PC? adb command works and device drivers installed. Found another forum where turning the usb from MTP to charging and back under developer options does the trick. I have a non stock ROM and seeing if fresh out of the box experiences the same thing.
I recently purchased a Nexus 6P, which I think is an absolutely brilliant device. Despite this I would like to mess around with it behind the scenes (root, different ROMs etc). Firstly I'd like to edit build.prop.As such as I have installed the Android SDK, installed the relevant things needed such as the USB drivers and platform tools. I've enabled USB debugging in the Developer Settings and ADB works fine when the phone is in normal mode. Booting in to fastboot mode also works.
Unfortunately, when I enter Recovery mode the phone disappears from ADB devices and from Device Manager on Windows. Strangely selecting the sideload option means the device shows up in both places, but I can't use the commands I want.
I've tried various official drivers, unofficial drivers and even edited the official drivers to add my hardware ID with no luck. I'm somewhat new to modern Android so I may be missing something obvious.
I'm trying to back up Titanium Backup folder from phone (nexus 6p) without luck, I have USB debugg in developing section of phone + MTP enable to transfer files, I could see the internal memory with all the goods but not my root files, when use root explorer I could see " Titanium Backup folder ", My concern if I need to wipe phone I want it to have back up, any other way to accomplish this ? I do have a back up in the cloud, would I be able to use cloud backup file if need to ?
After manually flashing files to upgrade to 6.0.1, I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0. But I am not able to flash supersu from sdcard because when I browse to the folder, it looks empty. Why this is happening?
Did a swap from a 64 GB 6P to a 128 GB and tried just doing a nandroid. That would've worked but the fingerprint reader wouldn't work without a factory reset. I also accidentally restores the old EFS in TWRP without knowing I shouldn't, but used the original EFS (did a backup on new device before transfer) and restored it back to what came the device.. So I did that and re-did everything and it seemed to have no problems at first. I downloaded some Google Music playlists, Viper4A + busybox, and at some point my phone stopped letting me modify the files.
Camera can't take pictures. Chrome can't download files. I can't add/remove files via PC. I can't modify files via file managers. I tried chmod 777 sdcard but it doesn't fix the problem. I tried reflashing the ROM and all, and did a complete wipe but restored the data (only) from TWRP - so the problem might be somewhere in there. I haven't changed anything from the setup I had on the 64 GB - it was working fine and then just stopped letting me do stuff.
I'll probably try a complete factory firmware restore then flash the ROM all over again, but wanted to see if there was a simple fix first.
I am using Windows 10. I have installed the latest Google USB drivers - downloaded and installed from here: [URL] ..... When I plug in, my device is detected, which proves that the drivers are installed.
1) When I touch the Photo Transfer option (PTP), I only get the DCIM and Pictures folder. If I open the DCIM folder, I see thumbnails of all my images. Some thumbnails show the actual image as well. However, when I open them, I get the following error: [URL] .....
2) When I touch the File Transfer option (MTP), I can open the DCIM folder, and I can see all the thumbnails, but I get the same error as above. [URL] .....
In short, I am unable to open any JPEG files created by my Nexus 6P camera on my laptop. I copied the JPEGs to my Desktop, and I tried to open the files, and surprise - I am STILL getting the SAME error!
The error is "Windows cannot find "". Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
I am able to open TEXT files, and other audio files from my device. It's only the images I have this error with.
I want to copy images from my phone to computer but what i have noticed is that it is not showing up all the images ! I have 697 images but it is showing only 297 images while connecting to PC. The images are there in Nexus 6P but it's not showing in PC. Tried both MTP and PTP, also tried removing and installing new device driver in PC.
I have near to 800 images on my cell phone which i can see though esfile explore or quickpic but when i connect it my pc with MTP connection those folders/images are not visible to me.
on my previous phone (Xperia Z2) I can plug in to my computer via USB and copy files to/from the internal storage or SD card. When I plug my Nexus 6P in to the computer the same way, I just get an empty folder. I can't see all the files on the internal Android file system. Is this normal?
Now that I have my phone back to the D radio, I am ready to move on and so I will ask a detailed question here : Where do I load mp3 files from my computer to my P6,, i.e., where do I put them? After they are put onto the phone and I am using a player of some kind, how do I get the player to locate the files it needs to play and then play them all one after another?
I am getting things set up to root my Nexus 6p using a Macbook Pro. I have Android Studio installed & I see the platform-tools folder like the tutorial says. But my phone isn't showing up as a device on my Macbook nor is the terminal command "adb devices" showing it. Need to successfully rooted their Nexus 6p using a Macbook Pro?
I have the 128GB model and I was transferring 32GB worth of music over to my 6P and before it completed I was getting warnings that files couldn't be copied. I stopped it and then looked at the phone on my PC and it was saying it's size was 24.1 GB. It shows the same thing when I look at the storage on the phone. What happened?
Currently the phone has location services on in battery saver mode with location history off. After updating to 6.0.1 or some new version of the phone app I have been unable to search for nearby places in app. The toggles for it have been turned on and off multiple times, turned the phone on and off, played with turning location settings on in different modes with the location history on and off in each scenario. Haven't tried clearing the cache and I don't find it to be a big enough problem to warrant a factory reset.
On Win 7 when I connect my phone to the computer some files and folders don't show up even though they are indeed there. Is this a compatibility or driver issue?
I have rooted and installed the custom recovery everything is working fine, but this is just a little weird.
I recently unlocked the bootloader and rooted my Nexus 6P and just this evening received an update for the November Security Update. This downloads fine but when the phone reboots to install, it just goes to TWRP and doesn't install.
This is most likely incredibly simple and stupid for me even to ask, but is it possible to install one I've unlocked/rooted?
Since the latest Jan security patch, my apps will not update over wifi at home. It keeps saying downloading for ever. The moment I turn wifi off, apps download just fine on 4g.
Nexus 6p all stock and on Jan security patch. I have reset my router twice and still nothing.
I've had my Nexus 6p for 1 week and I have not received any OTA update notifications. I'm still running MDA89D (latest is MDB08M??)I'm on Verizon (with a sim from my Note 4) and have not done any modifications to the phone yet (bootloader, root, etc)According to the factory images page, URL...
how do I flash the OTA update on my phone? When I try to do it via the phone (notification tray), it gives me an error after the attempted flash.I assume I need to download the OTA somewhere and sideload it. Where can I get it? My current build number is MMB29M..I assume I just flash the system.img from the latest factory image?
Day one powering up the phone there was a system update that that never installed. Since then I have not received any OTA updates. I have had it since October 29th.
I am on Verizon and used my sim from another phone. Concerned that because the first update borked during set up that I am not going to receive OTAs. Seen other listing the same scenario. Factory reset and removing sim in order?
I just received a notification on my 6P saying that the january security update is available. The thing is that I'm rooted with systemless root, xposed, EX Kernel and TWRP.
I am on stock rom, using SuperSU 2.66. I have tried using texdroider_dpi and one other app but they cannot change my dpi. It says it sets but then I reboot and I'm stuck on 560 dpi. I changed dpi in adb but some elements don't work such as my Swiftkey, the little blue diamonds for top devs in play store.
I assume this is a SuperSU issue but these DPI apps have worked since I first rooted this phone back in November. Only the current update has broken this.
