I received a text from a contact and it was another contact who had sent the text! Now when my wife texts me, it comes through showing its from my son....after viewing message details, the number is my wifes, although if i reply it goes to my son! I'm using chomp and up to now have had very few problems with it. Is it my phone or the app?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had this phone for about 8 months and it has always showed me who in my contact list is sending me a text message. It has only shown the phone number if the person texting me is not in my contact list.A few days ago, it started showing me only the number that sent the text message. I have no idea why it started this, maybe some wrong buttons got pushed while I was carrying it around in my pocket? It doesn't always lock when I close the phone, and sometimes I don't notice it when I slide the phone into my pocket.I've tried adding the number to my contact list, and it adds it just fine, but the next time I get a text from that number, only the number shows up again.This is quite frustrating, and I would like to get if fixed, does anyone have any ideas as to what I need to do to correct this?Old messages from before this started happening still show the names.I haven't had it connected to my computer since the phone was new and as far as I know, it hasn't done any software upgrades or anything like that.
View 27 Replies View RelatedWhen I go into the text messages app, it only shows the current day's messages and the time that I received them. No contact name, no number. I've played around with it a bit, but cant figure out where to even begin addressing this.
I recently switched out my Curve 9350 under warranty, since the old one was overheating and draining the battery. The first one I had didn't have this issue, from the get-go it showed contact names, pictures, and broke the messages down into days, but I could scroll and view all of them. My new one has only shown my text messages in the way I described above.

My iphone displays text messages with the contact number and not name even though they are recorded in my contacts. When I click on the message it then displays the senders name but going back to texts in general it shows their number again.

Despite several phone calls to HTC and my network provider, they can't solve the problem with my phone.
My Wildfire was replaced last week with the Wildfire S following a series of software issues. For some reason, only some of my contacts names & facebook links are showing in my SMS inbox - I'm just getting their phone number. It's not all the contacts, but a growing number leaving me with a string of unidentified phone numbers...
I've tried completely deleting a contact and putting it back in; waiting for them to text and adding to contacts; I've triple checked the numbers... I've exported, imported... and run out of options!! All those with problems worked before on my old phone, and as I say it's not all the contacts.
My network says it's HTC, HTC says it's my phone (on contract from Network)
I cannot get contact names to show on text messages received. It worked on my old iphone and i just upgraded to the 6 ....

There has been way to many times where I have to restart my phone in order to get my text messages. One weekend I didn't get a single text I restarted my phone two days later and my phone blew up with all the messages coming through. Is this just my phone?Or did I ppurchase a defective phone?

the date and time are set though my text meassages for the last 5 days all come up under 14 June 2043 which is getting a little frustrating. I have tried deleting all the messages in tht hope that from then on messages recieved would show the right date but no joy.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was texting with someone earlier today, I sent a text at 4:31 pm and they immediately responded but their text message was time stamped at 11:32 am.For some reason all of the texts I receive are time stamped as 5 hours earlier.The people I'm texting with are located in my same timezone, and the timezone is correct in the settings of my phone. It's set to automatic but I switched to manual and checked to see that the correct timezone was selected.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Lumia 800 and have discovered a bug where the recipient name is wrong if contacts have very similar phone numbers. Example:
I have two contacts with the following phone numbers
Contact 1. - 0703 246 802
Contact 2. - 0705 246 802
Note that the only thing differing the contacts is 0703 from 0705.
Regardless of whom of these two I send a text message they always show as being sent to Contact 1. This includes any History as well, they are all grouped into Contact 1 regardless of to which phone number I send the text message to. This is very annoying and it makes it impossible to see who actually had the message sent to when looking back at the history. I have tried moving the numbers around to different contact categories, changing contact name and so on, but it has made no difference to the behavior.
I just got a Motorola Defy (the Scandinavian version, with Android 2.2.2), and I'm very happy with it so far. However, there is a strange little bug in it: Every time I type ":-)" in a text message, it will be replaced with a "sad face" icon (). And every time I type a capital letter "B", it is replaced with a "sunglasses" icon () in the message.

If that happens after the message is read and I return to the music the phone starts to play thru the speakers and the headphones.at the same time. There is a significant reduction in the volume thru the headphones but it still plays. I have tried different headphones and the problem persist over the podcast app as well.

It shows the wrong number but under the name I am searching for. 3-4 times I called wrong person because my bold showed and dialed a different number for the name I am searching for. I don't know how to solve this.When I type the name of the contact I'm looking for my Bold 9000 displays the list of contacts as usual but the phone number of the contact is wrong. I have to scroll to another name on the list then scroll back to the name I was looking for in order to get the phone to display the correct phone number. I have not made any changes or added any software. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I click from either the "Notification" screen, or the Text Message List, I am directed to the wrong text messaging thread. This doesn't happen every time, it happens every day, and multiple times, however. Usually, when I reboot the phone, the problem is gone...momentarily.
It seems to happen with random messages. I use Universal Inbox and currently see message from text, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and my AT&T mail.
If I use the stock Text Messaging app, I can open the list of messages and see whatever I can from the preview there, but when I click to open the thread, it will open a totally random message thread. Weird. I'm not that into text messaging, but it does annoy me when I need to use it and I can't open individual messages because the wrong ones are appearing.
I don't know if this is a device problem, a software/app problem, an AT&T messaging problem or what. I'm somewhat ignorant about smartphones and have only had this Atrix 2 for about three months.
Can you get a code on your messages or on a phote? If it is yes, tell me also how.

All my messages have gone When I receive a text, it comes up but once I've gone out of my inbox, it disappears again. I have 3 text "conversations" showing in my inbox, sometimes I can open them, sometimes I can't. My phone is recognising I have over 6,000 messages on my phone when I back them up, but they're still not appearing.
