Nokia :: N85 / Contact Names Disappeared From Text Messages

I have had this phone for about 8 months and it has always showed me who in my contact list is sending me a text message. It has only shown the phone number if the person texting me is not in my contact list.A few days ago, it started showing me only the number that sent the text message. I have no idea why it started this, maybe some wrong buttons got pushed while I was carrying it around in my pocket? It doesn't always lock when I close the phone, and sometimes I don't notice it when I slide the phone into my pocket.I've tried adding the number to my contact list, and it adds it just fine, but the next time I get a text from that number, only the number shows up again.This is quite frustrating, and I would like to get if fixed, does anyone have any ideas as to what I need to do to correct this?Old messages from before this started happening still show the names.I haven't had it connected to my computer since the phone was new and as far as I know, it hasn't done any software upgrades or anything like that.

When I go into the text messages app, it only shows the current day's messages and the time that I received them. No contact name, no number. I've played around with it a bit, but cant figure out where to even begin addressing this.
I recently switched out my Curve 9350 under warranty, since the old one was overheating and draining the battery. The first one I had didn't have this issue, from the get-go it showed contact names, pictures, and broke the messages down into days, but I could scroll and view all of them. My new one has only shown my text messages in the way I described above.

I cannot get contact names to show on text messages received. It worked on my old iphone and i just upgraded to the 6 ....

I have had the Curve 8530 for about a week, and I noticed today that the majority of my contact list has disappeared. I started with almost 250 names, now I have about 25. Everything from A-D is gone, and about 75% of everything after that, just random names deleted. Also, when I pull up the contact list, I have to scroll down through a bunch of empty lines before I can see the numbers that are left, like all the deleted contacts are still there, just hidden. But if I search for names that aren't showing up, it doesn't find anything. I've tried a battery pull, and all that happened was the empty spaces in the list disappeared. I really don't want to have to reload my contacts every few days.

On the iphone 4 why do i get blank contact names with no messages in my message app? I didn't try and text them, the name just appears with no message and no typing a message bubble.

for some reason, some of my contacts are now no longer showing up against text messages i receive - it just shows their number.
some still have names next to them Deleting and re-adding doesnt seem to work and neither does changing the country code

My iphone displays text messages with the contact number and not name even though they are recorded in my contacts. When I click on the message it then displays the senders name but going back to texts in general it shows their number again.

I received a text from a contact and it was another contact who had sent the text! Now when my wife texts me, it comes through showing its from my son....after viewing message details, the number is my wifes, although if i reply it goes to my son! I'm using chomp and up to now have had very few problems with it. Is it my phone or the app?

Despite several phone calls to HTC and my network provider, they can't solve the problem with my phone.
My Wildfire was replaced last week with the Wildfire S following a series of software issues. For some reason, only some of my contacts names & facebook links are showing in my SMS inbox - I'm just getting their phone number. It's not all the contacts, but a growing number leaving me with a string of unidentified phone numbers...
I've tried completely deleting a contact and putting it back in; waiting for them to text and adding to contacts; I've triple checked the numbers... I've exported, imported... and run out of options!! All those with problems worked before on my old phone, and as I say it's not all the contacts.
My network says it's HTC, HTC says it's my phone (on contract from Network)

While playing Superbowl the handset started to behave differently. After exiting the game some questions marks (????) appeared on the desktop and instead of icons there were only little titles there. Tried restarting the handset resulted in failure to do so (not booting).

I've been using using my E51 for about 2 years, and it suddenly stopped displaying the contact names for SMS messages.There are no duplicates in the contact list.The thing is, it's started when I synced my phone with Ovi online.Could anybody find a solution for this ?It's quite annoying not having the names of the contacts

With some of my contacts an incoming call with a Caller ID does not display the caller's name, although they are in my Contact List and the number is in a valid format.Same is the case for sms's from the same contact.I only have one entry of that contact in my phonebook.Any 1 facing the same issue?

When most people call my phone only their number is displayed. All numbers are saved only once. Have tried saving them to the phone and then the sim again nothing seems to work it's so frustrating

When someone calls me the call display shows their number and their "registered" name example: I have Kati McGee saved in my contacts with her number, but when she calls it is Katherin McGee and her number, never my saved name. When i get the message that i missed a call it comes from my contacts, as well as text messages.
How do I make it show what is entered in my phone book? I have tried anything I can find to try, with no luck.

Nokia 5030 don't show names of all calling/sms writing people- saved in adress book. Some people numbers saved in adress book when calling to me I see, their name, but most of saved names and numbers in adress/sim book, don't show name, only number, like they aren't saved in phone book. The same thing is with sms receiving. Phone is 10 days old.

Had my Nokia N8 for about a year now, recently updated to Belle and I think it looks lovely but I've had so many problems since. Now this new one has started and I don't know if it's a bug that I can fix or not, randomly it loses the contact name associations when I open up the text message inbox. It just comes up with the phone numbers, the contacts are still there and when I reset the phone it goes back to normal.

Many of my text messages/sms are disappeared? These are all to the person with whom I text most. Is there any way to retrieve these, I definitely haven't deleted them. In my own efforts to find them I thought maybe there's a limit to the number of texts that are accessible, so I deleted lots of other unimportant texts.

Text messages will come in and the sound will go off and the phone will vibrate, but nothing shows up on the screen. when i unlock it ill have the text message in the app. ive tried restoring it but no good.

A couple day ago my phone started only displaying the numbers of people who were txting me, not the contact names.
There is no double entries in the phonebook of any of the contacts, ie there is only 1 contact per number - so it should be able to match it up.
Also, phone freezes every so often when I unlock it.

I have a 701. When looking at grouped sms messages I no longer see them described by users name (when the contact is in my contact list). Instead, every message is identified by the phone number. So whereas before I could easily id them now its more difficult. Anyone know how I can get the original setting back? Messaging is set to display in groups.

I was having problems with my x10 mini pro over the weekend when sending texts, it was being really slow and kept saying there was a problem with the messaging application and asked me if i wanted to "force a close" or "wait". I chose wait everytime and everything seemed ok, except for being really really slow. Today I got the same message when sending a text, but it didnt give me the option to "wait" and I had to press "force close". Well, it then showed me as having NO text messages in my history....I have lost them all. I went in the Vodofone shop and he said they are gone for good....does anyone know anyway I can get them back? Some of them are really special to me and I hate the thought of losing them all like that with no warning

I am about 12-13 months in to an 18 month contract with 3. My W595 has recently started to play up. It is a random occurrence so I cannot just take it in to a shop and show what is happening and going wrong. I have over 290 contacts and details in my phone. Sometimes when I reach for my phone and press the down button to get to my contacts there is nothing there apart from New Contact and My Numbers. All of the contacts have disappeared. Not only do the contacts disappear but so do all the stored text messages that I want to keep a bit longer before deleting. Fortunately I meticulously back my phone up using PC Suite so at least I can get them back again, but that in it self has it's problems, which I will explain further down. My contacts are stored in the phone memory, (there too many to store on the SIM). All other data, such as the calender, photos and notes remain intact and OK, I can only surmise that this data is stored away from the phone memory on the SD card so it cannot "disappear" in the same way.
I have reported this to 3 tech support but all they do is get me to check for updates to the phone software, (which happens to be current anyway). I just reinstall using the update facility and be done with it. The crazy thing is that because my confidence level is so low at the moment, I have to cart my laptop with me when I go away for wekends, just in case I lose everything again. The phone and the laptop have to be kept together for obvious reasons. The problem was reported to 3 well before the 12 month warranty ran out so any more reported problems that are connected will be covered in the event of a claim being made. They won't send a replacement phone whilst my own phone is away for analysis. I cannot do without the phone and the contents.
I have made my mind up to leave 3 at the end of the contract and I do not want another Sony Ericsson phone - I want to go back to Nokia, I never had any trouble with them. At the moment, I just feel as though I am limping with this W595 to the end of a painful 18 months. Has, or is anyone else experiencing similar problems with their W595? PC Suite Problem. My main problem with PC Suite when used in conjunction with my Sony Ericsson W595 phone is that there is no facility to produce a hard copy or print of the contacts list. I will need to do this when I change phones at the end of my contract to make it easier to input them into the new phone, (which hopefully will be a Nokia!). The only method that I have found is to do a "Print Screen" or a Screen Capture. Of course this has to be done several times to be able to cover nearly 300 contacts and all their input details.

Tried to search for a text message today and noticed that it cannot be found. Then I had troubles with exiting to messages list from search window which still read "0 messages found". And then when I pressed "B" to look for the oldest message it showed me that the oldest one is a month old. This is absurd, throughout all my previous blackberries I saved and moved all my text messages to a new device, including the present BBB 9900. The option "Keep messages Forever" has been on since the day one on my every device. The memory is 2 GB free on media card and 5Gb free on the device. Never changed a thing in the settings.

I have nokia E71 and all of a sudden the contacts button stopes working and doesn't bring up anything.Tried to get into contacts via menu but again , nothing.The contacts are in the phone because when someone calls me it does bring up the name.But when I try to open contacts to dial nothing opens.Tried factory defaults but no success and I'm still facing the issue.Tried to restart the phone a few times but no success.

I can see the first few words when I open my text messages, but cannot see the rest of the message when I click on or open the message.I can see the history and full message content from everyone else, just not messages from this one contact.
