HTC One M8 :: Loss Of Headphone Audio Quality With Screen Off
Aug 7, 2014
I plug in my headphones, fire up either spotify or GPM (more prevalent and noticible w/ GPM), start a song, lock screen, go about my business. From here, there is no noticible drop in sound quality...until I wake my screen. As soon as the screen wakes the audio quality and volume increases. Better lows, crisper highes, etc. It's not killing my experience, but I can notice it so of course it bothers the geek in me and I've gotta figure out what's going on. Is boomsound not activating?
Came from LG G4 that didn't have these issues with the same apps.
Sometimes the audio will work fine (notice this more when I'm on WiFi) but sometimes, in all apps (snapchat, facebook, regular gallery view) the video will play but the audio will cut in and out.
Not sure what it is. Phone is rooted (systemless) and is running the EX Kernel. I didn't mess with the audio settings in the EX Manager...
This is a huge issue for me as I spend a lot of time on Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube (I'm a vlogger, etc.).
I've been on numerous forums and I've asked the Facebook community and even tried tech support with Samsung, all to no avail.
So here's my issue: - Photos taken with the Galaxy S5 are a brilliant 5312x2988px in resolution. - Uploading pictures with the Facebook app on my S5 makes the 5312x2988px pictures 960x540px on facebook. - Uploading pictures with my previous Android device with an 8 megapixel camera were uploaded as 2048x1154px, much higher than the S5.
I can't seem to find any settings anywhere that are causing my high definition pictures to upload at a much worse quality to facebook. I don't expect to get full resolution, but I expect to at least be able to achieve the same upload resolution that my previous phone was getting.
I'm at the point where I don't even want to upload photos to facebook anymore because the quality is so bad compared to the original photo I took.
I just had trouble today with my torch, all of a sudden my incoming call audio does not work if it's handset mode but if it's in speaker mode I can hear the caller but audio transmit is not possible, the person at the other side cannot hear me when the phone is in speaker mode, i have to put into handset mode but in any case, there is obvious problem on the receiving/outgoing side.
My iphone has lost Audio and Audible Click sounds when receiving Calls / Messages etc. Though the ringer volume is at Max, no sound is emanating from the device. What could be the reason ?
I am planning on purchasing a Photon this weekend. I was wondering is the loss audio with phone calls happening to everyone or is it just a select few people having the problem. Also the random reboot is this happening to everyone or just a few phones?
On my Lumia 920, I've inserted a small plastic headphone jack charm (like this one) and noticed that the audio from the ear piece no longer outputs audio. I'm guessing that the phone thinks a headphone is attached and sends the audio to the headphone, even though the headphone plug of the charm is made of plastic.
This is a little bit annoying since this charm seems to work fine on other phones, including my previous Samsung Focus WP7 device.
Couldn't the hardware be a little smarter to detect if a plastic plug is inserted rather than a metal one? Is there any setting to configure the phone to output audio through the ear speaker even when the jack is being used?
I am trying to figure out if there is a way I can enable audio at the device while the headphone jack is in use. The reason is, I am using my headphone jack to record the call to an external recorder. But I of course need to be able to hear the caller too. Is there a way?
Having problems with RAZR and the audio out abilities? I was on a plane a few weeks ago, put my headphones in and couldn't figure out why I had no sound... turns out all my neighbors heard it cause it was coming out of the speaker... Then when I got back to the US last week, I put it in my car dock and it doesn't send audio to the cable and plays only thru the speaker as well.
I thought that maybe this problem was related to the .484, but have since installed a .419 based hybrid (Driphter v6.3) and I'm still having the same problem.
What is happening is I am using the headphone jack with an aux cable to plug my BB into an external powered speaker. After every song, the volume will reset itself to a lower volume. Once I click one of the volume buttons, it returns to it's previous volume, but does this after EVERY SINGLE SONG. This occurs while playing music in Slacker, GrooveShark, AND the BB Music player, so it is not related to the software that I am using.
I have checked the options in the media player, and enabled/disabled AUDIO BOOST over and over again and it doesn't make a difference, though every time I enable audio boost, it shows the popup warning about volume levels, I select the box that says "Don't Show me this again", yet, everytime I enable or the audio boost this message still pops up.
This problem is driving me insane, it is impossible to listen to music unless I reset the volume after EVERY SONG. This is a replacement 9630 from Sprint, is it possible that it is the phone itself? Should I get ANOTHER replacement?
I frequenly charge my phone in my car while listing to music, through the car's AUX port. It worked flawlessly with my Droid2, but with the Razr M, there is noise when music is not playing. When music is playing, even with a very quiet passage, there is no noise. It is only when the music app is not sourcing music (I can't remember if there is noise if the music is just paused). When sitting at the home screen with no music app running, there is definitely noise. The noise I'm hearing sounds like CPU noise...digital interference noise. But, car electircal noise must also be coming through the charging circuit. I do not have any issue while charging on AC power.
I know that the new windows media player with Windows 10 will support FLAC. My hope is that the phone will as well. Being able to support 24 bit audio would be an added bonus.
Without a headphone jack inserted, or plugged into a speaker using the port my iPhone 5 16gb will not play any audio or video. It just freezes the phone when you try to play something for about 5-20 seconds and then does nothing.Â
If a pair of headphones are plugged in then everything works perfectly. Same is true through the charging connector. My ringer is also currently not producing any sound.Â
This has been tested on the following apps and is the same on all:Â
- Spotify
- YouTube
- Facebook App
- Twitter
- BBC iPlayer
- Absolute Radio AppÂ
I have tried a a setting reset and a full restore. It does not matter whether I am on 3g, 4g or Wifi. I have had the phone about 5 months. It was a replacement from from my insurance company.Â
I'd like to use my E71 for streaming music via Spotify and I have been using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter with various speakers and headphones, but the sound quality is always bad. The sound quality is equally as bad when playing high bitrate mp3s via real player, so I don't think it's just Spotify.
There is also some hiss produced, but this can be mitigated by having the E71 volume turned up to maximum and using an inline volume control on the headphones to turn the volume down. But the audio quality is still bad and seems to be missing a lot in the mid range.
If I were to get a Bluetooth headset or a Bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter so that I could use my own headphones, would this improve the audio quality as it bypasses the 2.5mm plug on the device completely, or is the audio still going to be bad due to some underlying problem in the way the E71 decodes MP3s?
I was fairly happy with the phone until I tried to listen to music on it. Sound quality (no matter which headphones I use, up to Westone 3) is awful. There's no bass whatsoever, the sound is dirty, no stereo separation etc. etc. Really, I haven't heard anything as awful in years. This is such an outlier among modern phones I really can't get how this passed the quality control.
i have heard that there is a stereo microphone accessory for sony xperia phones, since its a stereo input micropohne, i need to know whether i could feed any stereo input (line in recording) to my phone and record better quality audio.
I'm planing to switch to Lumia 930 from iPhone 5s, and so far, everything what i've found convinced me to make a switch except audio quality when listening to the (local) music. I just really can't find impressions from actual user about this. Many people are telling me that audio quality with in ear headphones is terrible, cant even be compared with iPhone 5s' sound quality. But honestly I doubt that it can be THAT BAD on one flagship phone.
I'm using iphone since 3g, i switched once to Galaxy S (when it was released) then after couple of months moved back to iphone, and another trip to android last year with Xperia Z but couldn't wait to get rid of android once again. Quality on both android phones was noticeably worse than on any iphone i used. I don't want to make same mistake again since listening to the music on the phone is a big thing for me.
I just got my Atrix 2 yesterday in hopes of it replacing my iPod touch as a music and phone device.I loaded up my stuff and went to my car to test it out (obviously through the headphone jack) and I was dramatically disappointed. I went straight to Amazon to look at the price of the latest iPod model! Sounds like a muffled tape deck. There are just plain out frequencies that are muffled or missing on the Atrix 2. Does not take a good ear to hear it either. I wish I could sit down with every person who looks at this or a Motorola engineer to show them.
Occasionally, I will lose both the wired and bluetooth headphones. My bluetooth headphones will work for the phone, but not for game or music player audio. When I disconnect the headphones, the speaker works fine. When I reconnect them, I still get nothing, but again, after disconnecting, the speaker works.Rebooting the phone corrects the issue. The best I can relate this to is muting the phone during a meeting.I have use the volume rocker and my "Volume Control" app.If I mute it, and put it back quickly, it works. It's when I've had it muted for an hour or so that I see the problem.
I have a relatively severe issue with the Bluetooth audio quality on my phone. It sounds pretty much exactly like 64kbits MP3, you can especially hear it in the high frequencies. It's somehow distorted and unclear and extremely annoying as it ruins the experience totally.
Everyone who heard sound over my Bluetooth devices has heard this. The weird thing: I experienced this with both my Galaxy S5 (G900F) and my Galaxy S6 (G920F) and every single Bluetooth device that is connected to them. I tried it with my Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter, Denon AVR X1100W, Logitech Boombox and my car stereo Kennwood KDC-BT35U. The audio quality is always the same.
However, with my Nexus 5, my Galaxy Tab S8.4 and my Laptop, the audio quality over Bluetooth is great! Also, if I use the headphone jack on my Galaxys, it sounds just fine. I mostly use Spotify and Google Play Music, but the problem is not there since it sounds great when using a cord.
I just got hand free LSD-5011D headset. I paired it with the iPhone. It worked for the phone, but not for iTunes. I paired it with iMac. It works with iTunes. But awful sound!
I loaded "Fallen" by Evanescence onto my phone. Initially I was pleased with the audio quality, but the instant the bass cut in, I was horrified. It was noticeably distorted.
It wasn't playing particularly loudly, so it wasn't a volume issue. Turning the volume down didn't help.I was listening with Sennheiser EH1430 headphones, which are perfectly adequate. The audio tracks are 320Kbps VBR from Amazon MP3. The music sounds great through my HiFi, so the tracks are not distorted.I compared the MP3 files on the phone with the originals; identical. So, am I just out of luck, or is there anything I could try?
In my Nokia C5-00 Chat is not loading & I contacted Nokia Care they wasted my 5 Hours of Time and the end result is nothing. One more probem with Nokia C5-00 is it's poor audio quality, I unable to hear properly because of low volume / sound. Nokia Care Support team told me for Nokia C5-00 the quality is like that only, we can't do any thing.
The audio quality in videos was very impressive after Cyan update which introduced surround sound option in video settings (Nokia Camera). However the GDR1 update seems to reduce the audio to mono on my phone. Compare your videos before and after GDR1 and see if there is a change in audio quality.
So my iphone 4 is stuck in headphones mode. Can of compressed air works like a charm! But get this: Whenever I blow into the headphone jack, it goes straight back into headphones mode. Any idea?
Had the phone for a few days now and this has only happened twice. Basically after using the phone for several hours the responsiveness dulled and things like double taps become harder and the speed at which i can type is reduced. This goes away after a reboot so i know it is software related rather than hardware. Programs i have running are Wordfeud, tapatalk, internet, drag racing, facebook and mail.is there a way to restart the touch screen without rebooting?
any time i unlock my phone screen it takes uptoo a minute for any of my apps to connect to the internet, facebook, snapchat, outlook all seem to be effected. if i use the phone for a prolonged time i often get a loss of data.Â
