Nokia :: E71 - Audio Quality / Bluetooth Vs 2.5mm Adapter
Feb 15, 2010I'd like to use my E71 for streaming music via Spotify and I have been using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter with various speakers and headphones, but the sound quality is always bad. The sound quality is equally as bad when playing high bitrate mp3s via real player, so I don't think it's just Spotify.
There is also some hiss produced, but this can be mitigated by having the E71 volume turned up to maximum and using an inline volume control on the headphones to turn the volume down. But the audio quality is still bad and seems to be missing a lot in the mid range.
If I were to get a Bluetooth headset or a Bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter so that I could use my own headphones, would this improve the audio quality as it bypasses the 2.5mm plug on the device completely, or is the audio still going to be bad due to some underlying problem in the way the E71 decodes MP3s?

Nov 1, 2015I have a relatively severe issue with the Bluetooth audio quality on my phone. It sounds pretty much exactly like 64kbits MP3, you can especially hear it in the high frequencies. It's somehow distorted and unclear and extremely annoying as it ruins the experience totally.
Everyone who heard sound over my Bluetooth devices has heard this.The weird thing: I experienced this with both my Galaxy S5 (G900F) and my Galaxy S6 (G920F) and every single Bluetooth device that is connected to them. I tried it with my Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter, Denon AVR X1100W, Logitech Boombox and my car stereo Kennwood KDC-BT35U. The audio quality is always the same.
However, with my Nexus 5, my Galaxy Tab S8.4 and my Laptop, the audio quality over Bluetooth is great! Also, if I use the headphone jack on my Galaxys, it sounds just fine. I mostly use Spotify and Google Play Music, but the problem is not there since it sounds great when using a cord.

Jul 26, 2015I know that the new windows media player with Windows 10 will support FLAC. My hope is that the phone will as well. Being able to support 24 bit audio would be an added bonus.

Dec 6, 2011I was fairly happy with the phone until I tried to listen to music on it. Sound quality (no matter which headphones I use, up to Westone 3) is awful. There's no bass whatsoever, the sound is dirty, no stereo separation etc. etc. Really, I haven't heard anything as awful in years.This is such an outlier among modern phones I really can't get how this passed the quality control.

Sep 4, 2014I'm planing to switch to Lumia 930 from iPhone 5s, and so far, everything what i've found convinced me to make a switch except audio quality when listening to the (local) music. I just really can't find impressions from actual user about this. Many people are telling me that audio quality with in ear headphones is terrible, cant even be compared with iPhone 5s' sound quality. But honestly I doubt that it can be THAT BAD on one flagship phone.
I'm using iphone since 3g, i switched once to Galaxy S (when it was released) then after couple of months moved back to iphone, and another trip to android last year with Xperia Z but couldn't wait to get rid of android once again. Quality on both android phones was noticeably worse than on any iphone i used. I don't want to make same mistake again since listening to the music on the phone is a big thing for me.

Aug 7, 2014I plug in my headphones, fire up either spotify or GPM (more prevalent and noticible w/ GPM), start a song, lock screen, go about my business. From here, there is no noticible drop in sound quality...until I wake my screen. As soon as the screen wakes the audio quality and volume increases. Better lows, crisper highes, etc. It's not killing my experience, but I can notice it so of course it bothers the geek in me and I've gotta figure out what's going on. Is boomsound not activating?

Oct 25, 2011I just got my Atrix 2 yesterday in hopes of it replacing my iPod touch as a music and phone device.I loaded up my stuff and went to my car to test it out (obviously through the headphone jack) and I was dramatically disappointed. I went straight to Amazon to look at the price of the latest iPod model! Sounds like a muffled tape deck.There are just plain out frequencies that are muffled or missing on the Atrix 2. Does not take a good ear to hear it either. I wish I could sit down with every person who looks at this or a Motorola engineer to show them.

Nov 19, 2011I loaded "Fallen" by Evanescence onto my phone. Initially I was pleased with the audio quality, but the instant the bass cut in, I was horrified. It was noticeably distorted.
It wasn't playing particularly loudly, so it wasn't a volume issue. Turning the volume down didn't help.I was listening with Sennheiser EH1430 headphones, which are perfectly adequate.The audio tracks are 320Kbps VBR from Amazon MP3. The music sounds great through my HiFi, so the tracks are not distorted.I compared the MP3 files on the phone with the originals; identical.
So, am I just out of luck, or is there anything I could try?

However the GDR1 update seems to reduce the audio to mono on my phone. Compare your videos before and after GDR1 and see if there is a change in audio quality.

Jun 2, 2015Noticing a lack of Bluetooth range / quality with there S6? I'm coming from an Moto X 2nd Gen, and its like night and day. My Moto 360 watch constantly drops connection when i'm more than 20 ft away, and my Moto Hint Bluetooth earpiece fades in and out with the phone just in my pocket or on the desk in front of me. My Bose Sound Link II is the same way I go in the next room it stops playing.

Jul 17, 2015So ever since I updated to Lollipop in March (I'm with MTS) my Bluetooth audio with my pioneer double din stereo in my truck only works for about it a minute and a half then the signal seems to go weak and it gets really choppy and skips really bad. If I pause the song and wait 30 seconds itll sound fine again but only for about another minute and a half. Bluetooth audio works fine with my little Bluetooth speaker.

May 13, 2013I have paired my HTC One "AT&T" with my 2012 Toyota Highlander. During the process I setup it up as a phone plus audio device. I can receive and make calls just fine without issue.
The problem is when I try to play pandora. No audio at all. Whats strange is thats its actually paired, i see the music symbol plus the connection strength bars on my console. It does not display any artist info or songs. When I play a song in pandora no audio on either my car or phone. Whats even stranger is I can use my car to skip songs in pandora but still no sound.
I have checked everything. Made sure bluetooth audio is setup in pandora. I have deleted my phone from toyota and the connection from my phone and repaired back up. Rebooted my phone.

My G1 is running Cyanogenmod 5.0.8 with firerat's AnySPL patch. I bought a bluetooth headset(Wireless Blue) hoping to listen to music and play videogames with it, but then I tried it and it wouldn't give the desired results. After a little research, I found out about A2DP. I'm aware that this mono bluetooth headset does not support A2DP. Is there any way to get audio output to my bluetooth headset without A2DP?

Jul 2, 2015I just bought my first smartphone , a Galaxy S5. While I new to smartphones, I am not new to tech. In my car ( a 2015 Subaru Forester) I was powering my S5 with the USB cable plugged into the car's USB port. I had the phone playing Pandora. I sort of assumed that I would get the music signal on the USB line but found that the enabled BT was overriding the USB so I was getting the music with my radio set to BT-A. The problem was that the every few seconds the volume would drop and the phone would make two beeps. If I disconnected the USB cable and ran off battery, this issue went away.
On further inspection, I noticed that on every volume drop with beeps, a USB connection notification was appearing in the notification lists. I just wanted the USB for power but it seemed to be trying to connect over and over and each time, the notification was interfering with the audio. I could not find a setting to stop the S5 from trying to connect to USB data.

Feb 27, 2015My new Z2 D6503 is on .167 (4.4.4 KK) firmware, and when I connect it to my car's bluetooth audio system, sometimes it stutter really bad that I cannot enjoy the music. My car is 2014 and it also has the ability to read text messages.So after some investigation, I found a temporary solution to the dropouts:
1) If I just disable throw and reconnect, stuttering still exist.
2) If I just disable BT and re-enable, sometimes it fixes it but sometimes I lose AVRCP (control via car)
3) going into bluetooth setting, and disable MAP (text message), dropouts improved dramatically (from every 10 secs to every 1 mins or so)
4) disabling bluetooth Phone audio (so the only thing left is Bluetooth media audio) completely solves the dropout.
Xperia Z2 :: Music Audio To Bluetooth Speakers?
Aug 8, 2014I'm trying to throw music audio to bluetooth speakers with the Z2 and it doesn't work. The weird part is phone calls work perfectly through the bluetooth speakers, but throw doesn't work when playing music. The device also seems confused - the throw icon is highlighted in cyan, and the device under the menu is also highlighted, but the audio continues to play through the phone's speakers.
It has the same behavior with my UE BOOM speaker and with my car's system (mObridge MOST). My phone's software build number is 17.1.1.A.0.402.
