I installed Foxfi which required that I create a lock screen password before it would work. I assumed that I would be able to remove lock screen security during the times when I don't need to create a hotspot. But now it will not let me disable the security. I even uninstalled foxfi and restarted the phone but the option to disable is still greyed out. What do I need to do?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI set the trace a pattern security system for the phone. Later when trying to do two things at once I got the pattern wrong five times. I then compounded the problem by getting the succeeding attempts wrong as well until the phone locked me out. Like many others it seems I set-up my gmail account without recording the pertinant details, gmail address and password, these are the requirements to unlock the phone. The official X10 user guide is no help on the subject. I have also been to various websites looking for advice and have found no information at all, apart from don't do it of course! I went to a phone shop and their advice was to use PC Companion to reset the phone but of course I need to mount the phone in order that the software sees it. I am resigned to resetting the phone as the solution as I am backed up but even if I reset I will still need the gmail info to enable all of the Google features. I know it is the result of being a dufus but it seems like a bit of a terminal cul-de-sac at the moment.

Is there a way to eliminate the standard unlock feature, so that I don't have to go thru 2 unlock screens to get to the homescreen? On my original Droid, once I programmed the lock pattern in, the standard one went away; not so with this one.

I have disabled the power button to immediately lock the phone. Every time I open my phone I still have to take the extra step to slide to unlock even though the phone is technically not locked. This is just an extra annoying step. Is there any way to skip the slide to unlock step?

All of my Contacts were permanently lost and I had to set up my phone from scratch again - out of box. I'm guessing it's because he tried to guess my password again. The last time he tried to guess my password about 6 months ago, the phone did not Wipe itself out. Why it would wipe itself out is totally ridiculous. If a would-be thief actually somehow guessed my password, he deserves to have my Contacts, as I choose a password that cannot be guessed. It's up to the user how secure they want their phone by choosing a password of a certain level. It's not up to RIM to choose DEFCON 1 as soon as someone exceeds the number of retries set. It makes me want to get rid of my Blackberry altogether and get a phone that has a more reasonable security measures sequence of events. At the very least, there should be some kind of warning on the screen upon enabling the 'Password Lock' feature that states, 'the phone will be wiped if the number of retries is exceeded, it is highly recommended to Backup your Data using the Blackberry Manager PC software, in order to allow your phone to be quickly configured back to the state of when you backed it up, in the event a security wipe is activated'. I learned later that this was in the manual, but who actually reads the manual? I don't even know where my manual is. If I had known this, I would have most definitely backed it up. I think that since I'm basically starting from scratch, I may as well get another phone, but not one that has this ridiculous feature like Blackberry's.

I can wipe my Blackberry using JL Commander and get it to go away, but once plug it back into my Blackberry Internet Desktop Software, it locks it again. I have removed the blackberry desktop 3 times now and reinstalled it and still the same problem.I even went as far as doing a regedit and removed all blackberry information in that. I am stumped on this one. All I can figure is there is something in my desktop computer that is putting the security back on. Again, this is a personal blackberry being used on a personal computer.

I have a Motorola Droid Turbo. I have never locked the phone. I downloaded ANDROID PAY app last night. It required a screen lock to secure credit card. I agreed and set up a pattern screen lock. I got tired of unlocking phone every time. I went to disable the screen lock and I am NOT ABLE to do that. The security settings for NONE and SWIPE have been grayed out and are no longer an option. I have removed ANDROID PAY and still have issue.

So far my blackberry is working perfectly fine despite one major thing, the browser. It shows that I am connected to my home network, though when I try to load a page it shows the error message, "Unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later."
