Google Nexus 5 :: Internal Storage Moved To Different Location
Jan 3, 2016
So as the subject says, somehow my internal storage moved to a different location in my phone. It moved from storage/emulated/0 to data/media/0 somehow. I don't know how but now my apps and file managers are unable to access my internal storage and I am unable to download anything from my browser. My nexus 5 is rooted with Android 6.0 and has experimentalx kernel with xposed. Other than that, my nexus 5 is stock. I tried using root browser and solid browser to move my internal storage back to the correct place but that just gives me an error. I also tried using Android commander to move my storage using my pc but it's giving me permission denied. So I don't know what to do.
After upgrading to marshmallow, the internal storage is no longer accessible from my computer. It only works when on twrp recovery mode. Already turned off USB debugging, changed MTP and back, reinstalled the latest ADB drivers, removed the ADB drivers completely and no cigar.
When i click on setting there is a storage & USB atab under device which I click on. When I do this, no internal storage is available in order for me to click on MTP. When I click on the three dots it says Help and Feedback. The phone is not locked. I am tethering my phone to my computer.
My goal is to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer via tethering but I cannot locate the internal storage in order to click on MTP.
I have installed cataclysm rom after doing the full wipe and it booted up without problems but then I deleted internal storage in twrp and it didn't boot anymore. I have tried reinstalling it but when it started there was no status bar and no soft keys.
Rooted my N5 yesterday and it was working fine. Then today, I was trying to flash the Camera app from Jinshu when I got stuck on the dancing circles screen... went back into TWRP recovery and, I think, accidentally flashed the entire internal storage...
I can still get into TWRP, but when I click reboot > system , I get a warning message "No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?"
I am using a Mac and have the SDK etc. installed, but I don't even see the device as a USB device in order to try and figure out how to get the system files back on the device.
I have just upgraded to Marshmallow (MRA58K), installed some apps. Then I went to Storage & USB and discovered, that there is 3 GB memory used of 12,55GB. The list below showed, that less than half of the 3GB should be used. Where did my 1,6GB go?
I am having the problem of writing to my internal storage. Ever since upgrading to 6.0.1 I have not been able to download anything successfully. I am currently on the current android version, do I need to have the phone encrypted for storage to read/write?
I saw the cm website had a new cm13 nightly for angler, so I decided to try it out, so I downloaded it and gapps, and rebooted into twrp, then I wiped everything besides for internal storage and then I proceeded to Install cm, it took a few minutes, and then when it was done I rebooted. The first sign of something weird was that after the regular your device can't be checked for corruption message it went black and then said that my device is corrupt in red letters, then it started the cm boot animation, I waited about 5 minutes and nothing happened so I rebooted into recovery and it asked me for an encryption password...
My device was not previously encrypted and I didn't require a password to Install cm, so I tried wiping everything besides for internal storage, and then I was about to flash again, but non of my files were there so I had nothing to flash.... So I rebooted into my bootloader and fastbooted stock and now I'm on stock, but all my files and backups are gone. I guess that's why it's good to have an external sd, because that never got wiped by installing a rom before, and if I would have one, I would have all my pictures, music, and app backups. But now I have to start from scratch all because I tried a new build cyanogen mod
The title pretty much explains it. I just finished installing CM13 on my Nexus 6P, but realised I'd downloaded the wrong GApps, so booted up into CM13 (Worked fine) and then downloaded the newest GApps into internal storage (Which was NOT empty when I connected over USB to my PC) yet when I went to flash the new GApps, TWRP tells me that I have nothing in my internal storage folder. I'm confused as to how that could happen.
I have this issue and have spent the last 2 days trying to fix it to no avail. I'm wanting to start a fresh to resolve it which means wiping internal storage of music/photos etc. One question though, what's the best way of doing this to them install a fresh ROM?
As the title says play music hasn't been updated to support storage formatted as internal when you download and save music. I formatted my storage on the Pure. Bummer.
I don't know what happened but Google maps and Google now think I am on the other side of the country. I am in Ohio and it is showing my location as in a neighborhood in Salt Lake city, Utah. I have turned location, WiFi and GPS on and off. Also I have turned the phone on and off. I am on T-Mobile and my other phones location is correct.
My Nexus 5 has marshmallow and since then whenever I go to download an apk from the Internet I get a message across the bottom saying cannot download to the specified location. Security is set to allow third party downloads etc.
I've run into a bit of a problem, as have MANY Photon 4G owners have as well.since mounting my Electrify as a USB mass storage device (the two "MOT" drives pop up in explorer), now the internal storage (which is where everything is) comes up as an unreadable drive. It mounted fine when I got it, then stopped working, then worked for a day, now it doesn't work.I've tried uninstalling drivers, taking out the battery, SD card, etc etc.
Since updated to Google Play Services 7.xxx I just realized this. As screenshot attached, my device shows up as 2 devices. How to remove device at the bottom?
Had already dig in on Google Dashboard, delete here and there, no luck.
Today I turn my GPS constantly back on but on battery saving mode. Have it when I use Google Maps and 17 high accuracy. Any way to add a shortcut to the home screen to quickly toggle this GPS location based settings so I don't have to go into the main menu settings and talk to it that way?
I use to keep the WiFi Scanning for location services on before Lollipop. Since Lollipop, if it is on, WiFi is ALWAYS scanning killing my battery within the hour. So I turned it off hoping that the Marshmallow update(s) would fix this. I'm on 6.0.1 and the issue is still here. It's kind of annoying turning on WiFi just for my GPS to lock on accurately. If so what fixed your phone.? I've done cache clearing, in the phone menu itself and through recovery to no avail.
When I first registered my account I was in Malaysia, hence the store is set to Malaysian one. But, currently I'm no longer living there but It still detects Malaysia as my country. For a while, even Google Now thought I was a tourist when I came back to my home country but after reformatting I can no longer use Google Now since, it's not available in here. However, the store is still set to Malaysian Playstore. I do not wish to change this because my country playstore is really boring and dull. Almost every single popular app is not available, including stuffs like Viber and Clash of Clans which are widely used apps here. So, I was wondering if change my phone number and credit card info from account setting to my current one, would it change my playstore too?
Is there any way to increase the usable internal memory by reducing the size of the system partition (if you use a very lightweight ROM and GApps) and add it to the emulated storage?
After updating to Android L, I noticed I could not switch my location setting to Battery Saving. I was wondering if this is a bug with L or if I'm doing something wrong...
Just got a nexus 5. I switched the location settings to battery saver but if I turn off location it defaults back to high accuracy mode when I turn it back on which drains my battery quickly.
I always seem to accidentally mute my calls because my cheek touches the mute icon while I am talking. Can the icons be rearranged? If so, how do I do that?
I am attempting to add music to my phone from my computer's music library. When I plug in my Android Nexus 5, I keep getting a message popping up on my computer that says: "Can't access device storage: if your devices screen is locked, disconnect the USB cable, unlock your screen, and then reconnect the USB cable." I have tried this answer without success many times. How do I access and update my music collection from my laptop?? (I have a 2008 Apple MacBook Pro). Is there another way to update my music via internet, or any other method that does not require direct connection?
