Google Nexus 5 :: Duplicated Devices On Location History
Mar 11, 2015
Since updated to Google Play Services 7.xxx I just realized this. As screenshot attached, my device shows up as 2 devices. How to remove device at the bottom?
Had already dig in on Google Dashboard, delete here and there, no luck.
I've been tempted to turn off location history on my phone for various reasons (privacy, battery, etc.), but it says that it will affect Google Now. I'm not willing to lose Google Now, so I'm wondering: What effect on Google Now will I see if I turn off Location History?
I don't know what happened but Google maps and Google now think I am on the other side of the country. I am in Ohio and it is showing my location as in a neighborhood in Salt Lake city, Utah. I have turned location, WiFi and GPS on and off. Also I have turned the phone on and off. I am on T-Mobile and my other phones location is correct.
I use a IPhone, IPod touch, and a core 2 duo old mac pro with OSX 10.5 witch is not compatible with icloud. I don't have enough for a new computer at this time. I needed to add some new cadigorys "leads" and "clients" for my business with I did not add be for terning on Icloud,When I added them on a computer with OS x.5 it worned me it may duplicate them and I could not see a other way to add the needed cadigorys. The Ipod/Iphone dont let me edit contact cadigorys. So now all my contacts are duplicated I need to find a way to solve this fast with out buying stuff.
I tried using MyBackupPro to backup my SMS, MMS, and Phone logs from my Nexus 4 and then import (restore) them into the Nexus 5. Phone logs came over just fine, but I still can't see the SMS/MMS history in Hangouts. How this can be done? It's not really important to me, but I would like to know if it is at least doable.
When I tap the google search bar on my nexus 5 homescreen I get a large white drop down with all my recent searches. Is there a way to clear this history? I have already logged into google.com/history and cleared all history on that site, but it still shows on that drop down.
The ONLY way I am able to get rid of them is by manually holding down EACH result and tapping "remove from search history". Is there a clear all option somewhere?
My Nexus 5 has marshmallow and since then whenever I go to download an apk from the Internet I get a message across the bottom saying cannot download to the specified location. Security is set to allow third party downloads etc.
Are there any apps for those of us not rooted for wakelocks? GSam battery monitor shows my phone is being held awake and that it is discharging more so with the screen off.
Not sure what I have done. I want to upload 29 gigs worth of music to my WIN PC, but file manager doesn't see all of the music. only 389+ mg. Check properties on 64gig Nexus through Explorer and it shows all the gigs, but not the existence of the music. The Nexus has no issues and plays everything, sees all music and no other files have been affected......I must have changed the properties on the phone that recognizes the music as music. Seems I remember something about photo files versus music and then I noticed the visual absence.......
Is that I have a pair of Wireless Beats headphones. When I scan for Bluetooth devices on my N5 It can't find my headset. I used my Ipad to search for the headset and that picked it up fine. I could even pick up my Ipad Bluetooth using my N5.. (Also note; I have never connected my headset to N5 before)
What I have tried to fix the problem.
-Reset Bluetooth settings -Factory restore headset -Connected headset to another device perfectly -Changed the N5 Bluetooth name -Reboot on both devices -Changed WiFi off -Changed WiFi frequency -Tried various "Bluetooth Routing" apps
So as the subject says, somehow my internal storage moved to a different location in my phone. It moved from storage/emulated/0 to data/media/0 somehow. I don't know how but now my apps and file managers are unable to access my internal storage and I am unable to download anything from my browser. My nexus 5 is rooted with Android 6.0 and has experimentalx kernel with xposed. Other than that, my nexus 5 is stock. I tried using root browser and solid browser to move my internal storage back to the correct place but that just gives me an error. I also tried using Android commander to move my storage using my pc but it's giving me permission denied. So I don't know what to do.
Today I turn my GPS constantly back on but on battery saving mode. Have it when I use Google Maps and 17 high accuracy. Any way to add a shortcut to the home screen to quickly toggle this GPS location based settings so I don't have to go into the main menu settings and talk to it that way?
I use to keep the WiFi Scanning for location services on before Lollipop. Since Lollipop, if it is on, WiFi is ALWAYS scanning killing my battery within the hour. So I turned it off hoping that the Marshmallow update(s) would fix this. I'm on 6.0.1 and the issue is still here. It's kind of annoying turning on WiFi just for my GPS to lock on accurately. If so what fixed your phone.? I've done cache clearing, in the phone menu itself and through recovery to no avail.
When I first registered my account I was in Malaysia, hence the store is set to Malaysian one. But, currently I'm no longer living there but It still detects Malaysia as my country. For a while, even Google Now thought I was a tourist when I came back to my home country but after reformatting I can no longer use Google Now since, it's not available in here. However, the store is still set to Malaysian Playstore. I do not wish to change this because my country playstore is really boring and dull. Almost every single popular app is not available, including stuffs like Viber and Clash of Clans which are widely used apps here. So, I was wondering if change my phone number and credit card info from account setting to my current one, would it change my playstore too?
After updating to Android L, I noticed I could not switch my location setting to Battery Saving. I was wondering if this is a bug with L or if I'm doing something wrong...
Just got a nexus 5. I switched the location settings to battery saver but if I turn off location it defaults back to high accuracy mode when I turn it back on which drains my battery quickly.
First of all, I know a lot of people who only has Location on all the time just for their Weather widgets and apps to refresh your weather information, you don't need your Actual Location to have that, you can simply turn that off on the weather app or widget and enter your city or cities manually, it will give you the same information the only difference is that it will not ping your location all the time to do it.
I have tested all settings and I have found that the one that does the job while preserve the battery life the most is the Wifi and Cell signal only option, in other phones it's called Power Saving Mode. I've been using this option all the time for the past couple of months and it really uses very low battery, barely noticeable, this way I keep my location on to be able to use the locate device and other location services. I only change to high accuracy (GPS, WIFi and Cell) for my daily 5k runs or if I need to use Google maps or any other Maps apps. There are people who use GPS only but I've noticed that it increases (obviously) the gpsd service in my battery stats and it drains battery a lot more than Power saving Mode.
Location History is not needed for the Location Services to work, this is just a Google Service to enable other features. Take a look at this information. Google’s Location History is Still Recording Your Every Move.
Until mid April, when we had 2 separate options, Location reporting and Location History, I had location history on but Reporting off as it was besides the Screen, the number 1 battery drainer on Android, and I frankly didn't want to be "reporting" Google all my moves, but now that they incorporated both into just one setting, I just prefer to turn it off. Check this other link. Understanding Google's Android location tracking | Android Central.
After setting location based reminders the locations that I used for the reminders stay in the drop down box on the map/location page. I have 10 locations stored there and I only used the app twice. Some of the location data I didn't even enter. At some point I will have hundreds of these past reminder locations stored up which will make the app difficult to use. I would like to know how to delete the location history to prevent a useless list from forming.Â
When I do a search on my Samsung Galaxy S5 it shows up on my search history on my Tablet. Since I share my Tablet at home I don't necessarily want what I search on my phone to show up on my tablet.
Im using Xperia Z2, and this week I've update it into official Android Lollipop 5.0.2 through PC Companion. However, after the update installed, i seen a horrible WiFi problem: It's "always on". Even after I turn off scanning always available option on Advance Setting, the WiFi still on, as seen from the Battery Usage. This problem makes my Z2's keep awake and taking a huge battery loss.
My system is listed below. I have LOCATION TAG turned on. In looking at the INFORMATION on the photo, it shows GPS coordinates instead of the physical location (street, road, etc). Is that the way it works, or do I need to change the settings?
