I have this issue and have spent the last 2 days trying to fix it to no avail. I'm wanting to start a fresh to resolve it which means wiping internal storage of music/photos etc. One question though, what's the best way of doing this to them install a fresh ROM?

I saw the cm website had a new cm13 nightly for angler, so I decided to try it out, so I downloaded it and gapps, and rebooted into twrp, then I wiped everything besides for internal storage and then I proceeded to Install cm, it took a few minutes, and then when it was done I rebooted. The first sign of something weird was that after the regular your device can't be checked for corruption message it went black and then said that my device is corrupt in red letters, then it started the cm boot animation, I waited about 5 minutes and nothing happened so I rebooted into recovery and it asked me for an encryption password...
My device was not previously encrypted and I didn't require a password to Install cm, so I tried wiping everything besides for internal storage, and then I was about to flash again, but non of my files were there so I had nothing to flash.... So I rebooted into my bootloader and fastbooted stock and now I'm on stock, but all my files and backups are gone. I guess that's why it's good to have an external sd, because that never got wiped by installing a rom before, and if I would have one, I would have all my pictures, music, and app backups. But now I have to start from scratch all because I tried a new build cyanogen mod
The title pretty much explains it. I just finished installing CM13 on my Nexus 6P, but realised I'd downloaded the wrong GApps, so booted up into CM13 (Worked fine) and then downloaded the newest GApps into internal storage (Which was NOT empty when I connected over USB to my PC) yet when I went to flash the new GApps, TWRP tells me that I have nothing in my internal storage folder. I'm confused as to how that could happen.

I use my phone properly, charge it very well and have had 4 android phones. None were like this. I have the latest firmware for the M8 (4.4.4). My screen on time is not that good now, around 2-3 hours but when I first got the phone (3 months ago) it was 4-5 hours.
Noticing high battery consumption with Light Flow? My last charge screen used 12% and Light Flow used 11%. CPU Total for Light Flow - 4h 32m and it used 371 mAh. Compared to 412mAh for the screen.

Iv bluetoothed photos from my old phone (at&t windows phone) and transfered some over from my windows labtop. Everything as far as i knew transfered over no problem. All there. When i opened gallery . all there. *** well as when i opened music. All my usic was displayed. then one day went to open up my music player and it showed no music. Went to gallery to find noting. So i then went to filemanager. it said 0 music and 0 images but all my documents were still there. then via filemanger>all files>internalstorage>pictures they were there but all displayed as stock mountain pic till i clicked on them individualy.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday I installed CM13 on my phone and I had some problems so I wanted to revert to stock rom. I had a backup made with TWRP, so I installed it but TWRP crashed when doing so, so I tried it again but this time I wiped everything (internal storage aswell...), which was a bad idea, because it deleted my backup aswell (didn't think of that).
After that I downloaded the 6.0.1 (MMB29M) Stock image from the Google Developers site, rebooted into bootloader and tried using the flash-all script to flash the stock rom (I put all the files into the plattform-tools folder). But when flashing Radio, etc. it showed that it wasn't possible because of an unknown error and then it said that boot.sig or so was missing. After that the script crashed.
Now here I am with no data on my phone and I don't know how to flash anything (trying sideload with TWRP doesn't work aswell because it says that my device is offline). How can I get the script to work ?
After upgrading to marshmallow, the internal storage is no longer accessible from my computer. It only works when on twrp recovery mode. Already turned off USB debugging, changed MTP and back, reinstalled the latest ADB drivers, removed the ADB drivers completely and no cigar.

What's the steps to do so? I only have my work laptop also so can't adb anything. Do I just download ROM etc put on laptop, wipe all on phone, then transfer ROM, gapps etc back to phone then reboot to recovery and go from there?
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo as the subject says, somehow my internal storage moved to a different location in my phone. It moved from storage/emulated/0 to data/media/0 somehow. I don't know how but now my apps and file managers are unable to access my internal storage and I am unable to download anything from my browser. My nexus 5 is rooted with Android 6.0 and has experimentalx kernel with xposed. Other than that, my nexus 5 is stock. I tried using root browser and solid browser to move my internal storage back to the correct place but that just gives me an error. I also tried using Android commander to move my storage using my pc but it's giving me permission denied. So I don't know what to do.

When I click on the three dots it says Help and Feedback. The phone is not locked. I am tethering my phone to my computer.
My goal is to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer via tethering but I cannot locate the internal storage in order to click on MTP.
I have installed cataclysm rom after doing the full wipe and it booted up without problems but then I deleted internal storage in twrp and it didn't boot anymore. I have tried reinstalling it but when it started there was no status bar and no soft keys.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRooted my N5 yesterday and it was working fine. Then today, I was trying to flash the Camera app from Jinshu when I got stuck on the dancing circles screen... went back into TWRP recovery and, I think, accidentally flashed the entire internal storage...
I can still get into TWRP, but when I click reboot > system , I get a warning message "No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?"
I am using a Mac and have the SDK etc. installed, but I don't even see the device as a USB device in order to try and figure out how to get the system files back on the device.
I have just upgraded to Marshmallow (MRA58K), installed some apps. Then I went to Storage & USB and discovered, that there is 3 GB memory used of 12,55GB. The list below showed, that less than half of the 3GB should be used. Where did my 1,6GB go?

Ever since I installed the 5.1 update ,media and mediaserver are draining my battery at a ridiculous rate ! They get up to 70% battery drain ,i've done the reset and removed and formatted thesd card only to have them return and start again.

When I plug my Nexus 6P in to the computer the same way, I just get an empty folder. I can't see all the files on the internal Android file system. Is this normal?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor the last couple days, I haven't been able to get more than around 4 hours from a full charge. The battery usage tool lists "Media" as the major culprit. I'm also getting frequent notifications of high CPU utilization from the task manager tool, though nothing interesting shows up in the task manager application list. (Maybe the "Media" service doesn't get shown there?) I recently upgraded to 2.3.6, but things seemed fine for the first few days, so I don't know if this is related.
I think I might have caused the issue when I removed a few mp3 music folders from my SD card using the Astro File manager. (For some reason the stock file manager would hang on trying to remove them, even though they weren't in use.) That seems to be roughly when the battery drain issues started. Also, I currently can't open the "Music" or "Gallery" applications - they just hang and eventually I get the force close option. I've rebooted multiple times, but this doesn't go away.
Nexus 5, 16GB, MRA58N (stock, not rooted). Sometimes the power percentages shown for each process in the battery monitor do not add up to the total battery drain? I am finding that sometimes they add up to within 1% of the total shown.... and sometimes they are WAY off with as much as 30% of the displayed battery drain unaccounted for. Since I don''t have access to the battery terminals, I can't determine independently whether the percentages shown are simply inaccurate, or whether there are missing processes (ie., processes not shown at all in the battery monitor).

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhenever i set up the exchange mail account, i have to set up a pin or password to unlock my phone. When i want to change back the pin / password to a pattern, i cant and it says: "disabled by administrator encryption policy or credential storage"
Normally the reply on this post would be, your company has set up these minimum requirements for security purposes and you cant put up the mail/agenda unless you accept the terms of the company.
The weird thing is, my company doesn't`t require any security measures at all. If you want to swipe to unlock, you can (well, other people can ).
New Nexus 6p, latest OTA upgrade. Tried saving a file from an email attachment on Gmail app, the system asked me if I wanted to allow storage access permissions, I said yes, and another popup message said:
Screen overlay detected
To change this permission setting, you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Settings > Apps
When I go to these settings it shows the setting (YES or No) for each individual app. Gmail wasn't in the list of apps.

I had 13/16GB available on my Nexus 5. And now I have 18/32GB available on my 6P. My storage doubles and I only get 5GB more?
What is system data? Why can't I see it (it shows up nowhere, I just have less space available without actually seeing what's using up that space)
I have recently noticed that whilst playing Spotify (and also after) media server seems to be using up lots of my batter. All my Spotify songs are saved onto my SD card, and I understand mediaserver plays a part in playing the songs but I was wondering if it is normal to have such a high percentage? I used to have amazing battery life on my M8 but ever since buying this SD card it seems to have taken a tumble.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMedia server is killing my battery, and fast. I mean a 40% drop in 2 hours yesterday while phone was on sleep with wifi and mobile data disabled. I'm in the UK using S5 900F standard model on kitkat 4.4.2.
Since then I have:
- unmounted Samsung SD card (it only had a few photos and apps on it, had it a week)
- force stopped all "media apps" despite dire warnings as to world ending if I do so etc, and cleared data
- repeatedly cleared cache
- rebooted phone in safe mode and am monitoring. Battery drain is better but media server is still the main culprit at 27% (down from 51% but still..)
I can't keep it on safe mode all day as it's highly inconvenient.
Phone is unrooted, 3 months old so warranty is important. I can't download mediaserver killer etc
I am unable to isolate which media files are causing this or why. I thought it was the SD card which I added recently but it's a Samsung and should work, plus the problem hasn't disappeared after removing it.
I haven't downloaded any apps since the problem started, or downloaded any media files. I have no games on the phone. A little music, Spotify premium (force stop and now disabled by safe mode), 50 photos. Before the mediaserver problem started about a week ago, battery lasted 1 1/2 days at least. I'm not a heavy user of online media (bit of YouTube but never download or watch movies on my phone).
I have the 128GB model and I was transferring 32GB worth of music over to my 6P and before it completed I was getting warnings that files couldn't be copied. I stopped it and then looked at the phone on my PC and it was saying it's size was 24.1 GB. It shows the same thing when I look at the storage on the phone. What happened?
